I've been reading a lot about reducing nicotine intake recently.

Most of the stuff I have read about people reducing their nicotine intake is misleading.
It appears that a lot of people seem to decrease the strength of their liquid when they move to more powerful devices, but they are probably getting the same (if not more) nicotine than they were before, despite the mg strength of the liquid.
This seems to be especially the case for people who switch from MTL to subohming.

When I started vaping, I was on 12mg liquid, but over the last two months, I have reduced this to 10mg.
I guess I have the FDA to thank, because the deeming regs forced me into DIY, and I am thus able to precisely control the nicotine content of my liquid.

I'm still using the same amount of liquid in the same devices, it just has less nicotine in it.

I don't necessarily want to quit vaping (at least not in the immediate future) but I would like to reduce my addiction to nicotine somewhat, even if just to make my stash of nicotine last longer.

I'd like to hear the experiences of people who have truly stepped down their nicotine concentration, in other words reduced the strength of their liquid but continued to use the same (or similar) devices, the same vaping style and the same amount of liquid.

For me, switching from 12mg to 11mg was barely noticeable. I did find that I vaped a little more to begin with, but then I settled back into my old routine after a week or so.
I did notice the switch from 11mg to 10mg a little more, but I'm expecting that to pass eventually too.
I'm not going to rush myself, I'm waiting until I'm absolutely comfortable each time before moving down again.

I reduced my nic from 18 mg to 0 mg.

Been at 0mg for 7 months.

I went from 12 to 6 on an Atlantis v2. Stayed at 6 for a month, tried the same juice I'd been vaping at 6 in a 3 and liked the flavor better. I've been at 3 for over a year and don't plan on reducing or eliminating nicotine. I like the mental health benefits and see no reason to eliminate it.

I'm MTL or restricted lung under 15 watts almost all the time. My consumption of mls/day went up from 3 to 5 when I switched to RTAs and drippers but I have dropped from 18mg to 5-6mg. I didn't drop by design or anything. I kept getting too much nic so I kept dropping 2mg every 6 months or so. The drops weren't noticeable at all. Heck, they were pleasurable. My tolerance has definitely dropped over the last 3 years and it did it by itself. Seems odd for what is tagged as "one of the most addicting drugs known to man". lol

I started at 18 or 24 mg/ml in 2014 and dropped gradually to 3 mg/ml about a year ago with lower resistance coils and more power. After heart problems six months ago, my cardiologist told me I needed to get off the nicotine entirely. I DIY, so I reduced from 3 to 2, then 1.5 followed by 1.0. I'm now at zero and have never missed it. Taking tiny steps makes it quite easy - at least it did for me.

I started at 12mg which was always too much for me. Weird as I was a heavy smoker, but I guess everyone is different.

I am at 6mg for most of my vaping currently, but at 1.5-2.0 when using mech mods with subohm coils.

Likely going to drop my wife and I to 5mg from 6 when I make our next DIY batch.

started at 12 mg MTL device. Went to subohm and lowered to 6mg and now i'm at 3 mg. Vaping about 140ml a month.

It's possible and just like starting to vape you just have to persist. The first week (first few days) when you lower are the hardest, i vaped basically non stop during that phase. But after a few days you will slowly return to your normal vaping schedule. I use my work to help me with this, since i'm only allowed to vape 3 to 4 times a day. It does help for me to make the step to a lower nicotine content.

I have been vaping for 7 years.
Prior to that I smoked around 7 cigarettes per day for 27 years.

When I started vaping I was dripping 12mg liquid on 510 atomizers at 10 watts.
Up until this happened I was STILL dripping 12mg liquid on 510 atomizers at 10 watts.

This is what happened...
Cotinine testing - Day three of zero nicotine

Since then I have been vaping zero nicotine.
Didn't notice any difference, don't miss it, but still care.

I will go back on nicotine as soon as I retire or decide to pay the extortion fees.
I am concerned about the lack of health benefits that nicotine provides.

I smoked a pack of Marlboro Lites for at least 30 years before I began vaping.

I started on 18mg over four years ago. Over the last two years I'v dropped it from 12mg to 3mg. I probably could go zero nicotine at this point, but I do like a little bit of nic in my vape.

Basically, I started out with Tootle Puffer mouth-to-lung setups: Provari and a cartotank, or Provari and a Kayfun tank.

Over the last couple of years, I've moved on to a direct lung draw on sub-ohm tanks or drippers (but only at 30 watts).

Well when I switched to RTA or RDA I dropped nic level since flavor was more intense and so was the nic. From 18mg on Aspire 1.6ohm heads to Kayfun with a 1.4ohm on 6mg Vaping 10 Watts

I've been on the same type of devices since I've been vaping, except for the cigalikes that I started with, but I don't really count those. But I go between Innokin Endura T18s, and Provaris.

I started on 12mg, but it always felt too strong, so I cut it back to 6mg, which I used for several months. A couple of months ago, I decreased to 3mg, with no noticeable difference. Just recently, I cut back again to 1.5 mg, and that drop I did notice. I stayed with it though, using some 3mg when I felt antsy. That only lasted a week or two though, and now I'm happily using 1.5 mg.

Except for the last drop, stepping down was very easy to do for me. Every time I dropped, I kept some of the stronger liquid in a separate e-cig to use now and then, until I didn't care for it anymore.

I probably won't drop again though. I've tried 0 nic, and hated it. :D

Taking those baby steps was the only way u could get the nicotine monkey off my back.

When i was vaping 1 mf last November people told me not to go from 1 mg to ZERO. But to go to .5 mg but i was determined that 0mg nic was going to bt Mr Christmas gift to myself, and 12/28/2015 i went 0 mg. I vaped more than usual ejuice for 2-3 days but itvwaa fine.

Well, when I very first started I used a MarkTen, which translates to 24mg nicotine. We then moved to the Tripl3 eGo batteries and clearomizers, at which point we started using 16mg. Since then, we've moved on to better eGo batteries and better eGo tanks, with which we use 12mg. I recently got a box and a Nautilus Mini which I pretty much exclusively use for Space Jam Eclipse, and with that particular setup I use 6mg, but I still use 12mg Nicquid Smoothol in my newly acquired Aspire Vivi Nova. If I were to get any other juices, they'd probably wind up in the Vivi Nova as well. The Space Jam Eclipse is still my favorite juice, so I dedicate my Nautilus Mini to it... and the Vivi Nova works well with low wattage which is what I usually run. Only occasionally do I turn the wattage up with my Nautilus Mini.
