I am still doing both analog and vaping. Hardest part for me is because I urge for the nic but the nic on e-liquid is just to harsh for me.
Can't stand it at all... Just trying to inhale already made me cough and that was 6mg only... Don't know why but I check several other friends and many of them can't stand any nic level.

The analog getting worse in taste for me but for the moment I still have to get one every now and then... Before I would smoke 20-30 sticks per day and now it's only 6-10 per day. So I guess it is still a progress

Ordering a orchid at the moment... I need to find the right device and right juice to be able to stop smoking

Let me second (third?) the recommendation for WTA juice (aromaejuice.com) - when my cravings get too strong, a tank or 2 of the WTA settles everything down nicely and just makes me feel mellow and good. It's very soothing, not only for the cravings, but (for me at least) also to my whole body. Try a bottle - it's definitely worth it!

As you can tell by my join date, I've been around here for a while!! Just my thoughts on another alternate...

My first attempt at quitting with vaping failed, as happened a lot back in the dark ages of 2009, largely due to primitive equipment. With me, however, there was a second major issue: I have a metabolic disease and even with the nic in the liquids, the withdrawal eventually put me in the hospital as my body went haywire.

A year and a half ago I started looking at vape again, saw the advances in equipment, and wanted to try again...but knew I needed a different approach. I bought some WTA juices, but I also tracked down sources for imported Swedish Snus, which would be a much stronger and immediate source of WTAs without the smoke and tar and chemicals in US tobacco products. These are hugely popular in Sweden as a quit-smoking method, and while not the perfect solution never the less people show many fewer health problems than they did while smoking when using them.

So for the last 13 months I haven't been 'tobacco free', but smoke free. I keep General snus in the freezer, and use no more than 4 or 5 a week as well as vaping. This for me solved the issue of physical withdrawal, and I continue to find vaping soothing and flavorful and truly enjoy it!

If you are psychologically truly ready to stop smoking, this could help with the physical withdrawal aspect (although this is not a method that everyone would approve of), but as with any lifestyle changes you need to get your mind set for it, and there are many who still enjoy smoking (as most of us did for many years!) and who may not be ready yet.

Since you are aware of and set up to vape, you have at least one of the best options to use when you are ready! Best of luck to you!

I can't speak for anyone else, but when I switched over completely to vaping from analogs, I quickly learned that even with a great set-up and good juice, it still took a good bit of willpower not to smoke.

Vaping has been a huge help in keeping me off analogs, but for me, it did/does not replace cigarettes completely....I mean it's close, but sometimes the cravings for a "real cigarette" still hit pretty strong.

I think there are a number of newer vapers that expect the transition to be easy and effortless, and for some, that is the case. For many others, they quickly find out that quitting still takes a hell of a lot of effort and willpower, regardless of the set-up they may be using.

I don't see this asked often in situations like yours, but what kind of analogs did/do you smoke. I think it plays a big part in the transition. Me, I smoked ultra light 100's, so the transition was really easy for me, I was use to a less dense smoke and a light (almost non-existent) throat hit. Now if you are a Marlboro Red type smoker, then it is going to be more difficult to replicate that experience with vaping. It can be done, but just not as easily.

Agree completely.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned is using varying strengths of nicotine. Some people just up their nicotine. For instance, to get over that initial "hump" in getting of the cigarettes completely, I went up to 24mg. That was an overdose but it was the only way to do it and believe me, I really wanted off those things badly. After a month, it was way too much and cut back without a problem. Other people use a higher nic only when the cig urge hits them hard and swear it works. I believe them. We're all different and have to find what works for us as individuals.

As Andria mentioned, some people need more than just the nicotine. She and a couple others on here are far more qualified to address those matters. Then there is the whole mind game bs your brain pulls on you to get you back to smoking. If it takes a diamond encrusted titanium tube to get you free of BT's chemical soup, then do it. You are investing in your life.

Currently what keeps me on an even keel is a higher nic early in the day, medium in the afternoon and little to none at night. There is no right or wrong way, it's just figuring out what suits your needs as you go along but, it almost always seems that in the beginning that more nic, when you're having problems, is the answer. Not always, but most of the time. Good luck to you.

Something that helped me get off the analogs was actually to use a lower nic juice and just hit it every couple minutes. Pacifier mode, as my bro called it. Lol. But use something really tasty. For me it was my pina colada juice.

Gave this a like because it gave me a chuckle of recognition -- when I first quit, I needed to be vaping practically every last waking minute, so I had to go down to 6mg just so I *could* vape like that and not get nic sick! :D Now I'm vaping about 11mg, maybe closer to 12, with WTA, because I've found that helps me to not vape so much, which my asthma enjoys a GREAT deal better than the constant chain-vaping. :thumb:

When I first started learning about vaping, and considered my level of smoking, I had guess-timated that 12mg might be about right, but unfortunately the shop I went to insisted it must be 18mg to start, gack, made me sick. Then I did try 12mg, but with that chain-vaping thing going on, it was still too high -- now, since I've learned that my asthma would really prefer me to vape a lot less, something close to 12mg with WTA really fills the bill. I can still vape as much as I really want to -- but each hit is so much more satisfying, I don't have to nurse it constantly. It's a much calmer style of vaping.

Now that I'm off of them, I'm up to 12mg on most of my juices. Still have that Pina Colada around for went I want a nice smooth vape with lots of flavor and not so much throat hit, though.

I've pretty much abandoned my original ADV, in favor of blueberry muffin/banana nut bread; it doesn't have as much TH as the Virginia I vaped at first, but I add a little of the "Flash" ingredient to boost it a little, plus the higher nic level helps a bit with that too; I do add some sweetener, along with the Flash, so the TH is lighter, but it's sweeter, so it's satisfying in a different way -- my favorite nomnom of ALL TIME, blueberry muffins! :D And I've always enjoyed the flavors of blueberry and banana mixed together, so the vape is really right up my alley. :thumb:

I wanted to clarify a couple of points from my earlier post. The thing was that I absolutely LOVED smoking, having done so off-and-on for 35 years. But I knew it was taking a toll on my health, and more importantly, was also causing my son a lot of worry, since my dad died from a heart attack at age 62 from, among other factors, smoking heavily. My son would often remind me that it was smoking that killed his grandfather, and he did not want to lose me the in the same fashion. So, lots of incentive to quit. I just needed a miracle.

I was struck with things a lot of You here have said about the habits/rituals that went with smoking, and I was no different. How much I looked forward to breaks when I could run outside in the cold and rain, huddled with my fellow chokers underneath an overhang that was just barely not quite large enough to cover all of us from the elements, just so I could suck down some more tobacco smoke, and take more time off my Life. LOL! Great times! OK, seriously, I had my cherished times to enjoy a smoke. How on Earth could I ever go without that? The drive to and from work, summer evenings on the porch watching the sunsets, hanging out with good friends at a bar, etc.

Then there was the whole oral/tactile thing. Having a smoke between my fingers, placing it between my lips, inhaling that warm smoke, the rush of nicotine. I loved all of it. Well, the good parts, at any rate.

I found that I could definitely do without the heaviness in my chest, the shortness of breath, my doctor expressing concern over the rattle in my lungs, the sinus problems, the stink, the discolored fingers, the paleness in my face, having to stand outside in zero degree weather just to suck down a smoke, dealing with an already bad sore throat during a cold but still having to have my fix, the astronomical costs, etc. Shoot....if only someone could invent something that had all of the upsides, without any of the negatives. If indeed....if only....if....wait a second....WHAT THE HELL IS VAPING???? EUREKA!!!!

So now, my habits are vaping at my desk while inside at any time. Vaping inside while at home, staying warm and dry indoors. Getting together with my vaping friends, while our smoking friends look on in envy. Breathing better. No more heaviness in my chest. No more rattles in my lungs. No more shortness of breath. Color in my face. Healthy weight gain (I am 5'10", and was 135 LBS as a smoker, now up to 160). No stink. A lot more money in the bank. And the best part of all, the relief in my son's voice as he acknowledges that I may fare better than his grandpa did after all.

Sorry for kinda derailing here a bit. I guess the bottom line now for me is that, as much as I loved smoking, I honestly love vaping even more. I realize it won't be a magic bullet for everyone. And sure, I had to take the time to learn and experiment a lot before finding the right combinations. But I knew it would be worth it, and it still is. I can only hope that it will continue to be a solution for as many as possible.

I too just fell off the wagon. But not on purpose. My first mech was a 4nine. I loved the mod, I vaped on it for about a month and the magnets have out on me two weeks ago.

So I bought smokes the day after it broke. For 4 days straight I bought smokes.

Then I purchased a new mod about a week and a half ago. Since then dripping hasn't been the same, I'd still find myself craving a smoke. So I'd smoke a cigarette when I needed one. Which was often.

Then the past two days I bought more smokes. So I figured I'd buy myself a rebuildable tank. Just built on it today, I've been vaping on it for a couple hours and don't find myself craving smokes.

I figure this, either go back to what you did when you first started vaping, or change it up and dive deeper into it by getting a mech and a rebuildable.

And get a backup or five!!!!! Technology fails. if you don't want your non-smoking to fail, you need a backup for your backup's backup.

Really? Can't find a NT juice to satisfy you!

I actually quit with Nicotickets Virus, Wakonda & Switch! Never in a Million years did I think I would love tobacco juices but, it works. Except for Switch, other 2 don't even taste tobacco, just yummy jooose :) I agree though, you need to WANT to quit. I'm only 24 days in & if I had $20 every time I told myself I need a smoke, I would have a nice bank account lol.. Good luck, hopefully ya go back to vaping
