Back on page 7 of this thread, Shekinahsgroom stated:

So here's my story. But will state up front that after some H E double hockey sticks raising with the kid behind the counter, I did get mine replaced.

1. Purchased my hcigar VT200 from a local vendor on Oct. 16th 2015. (Vendor also has a website too and is well known)
2. Brought my VT200 home, downloaded the escribe software and created a member account with the escribe forum. (did this latter part, just in case I had a question or needed help with the escribe program in setting up my new VT200)
3. read some thing in the forum and did the tutorial
4. Set up my VT200
5. began to vape and loved the darn thing.

6. Everything was great for 3 weeks. I took my lil beauty everywhere with it's sexy side kick the uwell crown with its nic coil in it.
7. after 3 weeks, (Nov. 9, 2015) while sitting at my puter and vaping on her, she laid over and just died in mid vape. I mean everything left her. No life signs at all. She was outright dead!

8. Next morning, I took the VT200 back to the retail vape store I bought it from and was immediately informed, that they only warrantied it for 2 weeks ( how convenient) from day of purchase. I like to hit the roof immediately!

9. I mentioned that the devise had a 1 year warranty and that, while I understood it was a manufacturer warranty, they needed to understand that the manufacturer, doesn't do business with the end user/consumer, but they did do business with the retailers ( Later, I confirmed this by getting on Face book and chatting with an Hcigar rep from their facebook page).

10. The kid in the store made a phone call and after some tense minutes, he turned and said they would exchange it, but that I had only two weeks from that day. If it died again after the two weeks, they'd do nothing! So while I have a 175.00 New VT200, It's about as good as the dead one now because without a warranty, it's about as good as a sitting out in the open by itself. The retailer must have either

A. not gotten the vt200s they have through Hcigar or
B. Simply don't want to be bothered trying to do RMAs with the manufacturer.

Either way, i'm out a VT200/$175.00 if this one goes after two weeks and dies too.

So in summation: I thought I was dealing with a reputable local business but I wasn't.
But what can we do when we run into these situations? Nothing! but take the loss and not do business with the place again and do our level best, to steer others vapers away from such places. Getting legal council isn't cheap to try and make a retailer do what is right and even the law these days, can be manipulated and often are anyway even if there is a law. So this means the moral right things to do are not part of the law. In other words and they bare quoting again.

"you should look for a vendor offering the full year" Few do by the way. I've only found one and there's all sorts of policies to follow to even try and get it if your VT200 should die.

When it's working! The VT200 is "Awesome Sauce", it's sexy looking but be forewarned too. It does also have a heat dissipation problem. IE sit a standard TFV4 with dual coils on it and vape it a few fast vapes at 70 watts and you'll soon learn that not only does the addy get hot, but so will the vt200 case and this can't be good for the dna200 board that sits inside. Especially as close as the board sits to the 510 connection inside.

Ok. Thank you. I learning something new every day. Does they claim to be genuine, and who is selling those?
I haven't seen any that were claimed to be authentic. Large Chinese vendors such as Fasttech and Focalecig are usually very reliable in not lying about authenticity. I bought mine from Fasttech, but they were later taken off their listings due to pressure by vaporshark (the same thing happened with vaporflasks). Not sure who sells them nowadays, but 3fvape sell flasks so they might have sharks as well.

Glad to see you like it @jj6404, it is my first evolv too. I was torn between this and the yihi and I'm glad I chose this after a lot of complaint on firmware support for yihi.

Besides the chip, the escribe software is brilliant because I can do a lot of stuff on it like clicks, ramping, themes to name a few. There's always something new to learn in the software.

Take care and enjoy your new toy

No Mac stuff yet, supposed to be coming...some buy a cheap windows tablet to tinker. User themes add a personal touch to the screens/graphics, profiles for different attys-tc or no tc, watts, preheat.. Realtime trends for ohms Volts watts. Battery analyzer, the list goes on! Some people won't use much of it others will spend hours on it.

There are a lot of people who have macs and dual-boot to use Windows or whatever just to use Escribe.

I don't understand how anyone can use a DNA200 without escribe. I mean it would just be a 200 watt power device with nickel TC. But to adjust preheat settings, use any other wire in TC, and most importantly I think configure the mod and battery settings (mod resistance, battery watt-hour settings) which we have seen are rarely set up by the manufacturer, you absolutely need to use the Escribe software. I plug in and change stuff like at least every other day.

yes u r right. one of the main attraction of dna200 shall be its ability to configure its chip thru escribe.

from wat i've read at escribe forum, due to the current Mac OSX El Capitan, there seems to be a glitch for the mac to recognise the dna200. i'm still trying to find my way to make sure i can install the software b4 i got myself a dna200 mod.

anyway, i've just email ecscibe support n here's a response from them:

Yeah Evolv is awesome. You should become a member of the Evolv DNA200 forums once you get yours like I did. They respond and take suggestions and everything there. There is a big Mac thread there with people's experiences and everything using Escribe on their macs. I have a Mac as well but I also have a Windows laptop so I just use that for the mean time.

im just thinking to myself, so far my vt, and my 1590a dna 200's have been working great so far. no fuses blown, no warranty service message. im guessing i got boards made on wednesday's. i don't beat on them, maybe that's the reason. i usually only vape around the 30-75 watt range, in temp mode. maybe that's why. once in a while i'll throw a dual 24-26g twisted, parallel build on but neither of the lipo's that are in my 200's last beyond an hour at 150 watts and above. i knew there was a reason i kept my OG sigelei 150 non tc!!:D

So, I'm almost a month with my VT200 and no issues so far (knock on wood). I'm a bit concerned about hearing that there have been issues. Mine has a serial # of 6152 so I guess it's the newer version with the SS 510.

I've pretty much been running mine with just a Kanger Sub Tank mini with the .15 NI200 OCC coils at 45w/40w (peak/power) with the temp set at 430F. It's been working flawlessly so far and I get about 2 days per charge with moderate use. I mainly use it while driving (between 2-4 hours a day) and evenings while home.

I have tried it with 2 different drippers, one with a .095 ohm NI200 build, and one with a .21 NI200 build. I have to say that with the STM it gets right up to 430F and holds a perfectly flat line there while watching it with the device monitor. The drippers, it has a tough time holding a steady temp, but I'm sure that's due to my build/wicking. Don't really care as the STM is exactly what I expected for my first run with a TC device.

All in all, I'm very pleased (with the mod AND my first attempt with TC). I just hope nothing goes wrong with it as I have seen in this thread...
