Can you do that with the mod locked? Makes it sorta easier to not hit the fire button by mistake.

That's what I did, and yes, it works.

I got a reading of .012 - .013
.0125 X .8 = .01

Please check my math, that doesn't look right to me.

The math is right but the resistance seems a tad high. Did you set the resistance to 0 in the mod tab of Escribe first and Click on "Upload Settings to device"?

That's what I meant. Any and all protection from hitting the fire button while shorted like that would make me feel better.

Eskie,

You really don't need to worry about hitting the fire button the DNA will current limit to what ever wattage you have it set to. Set at 5 or 10 watts and your golden but to tell you the truth it will limit at full wattage just fine also.

Yes I have done it and hit the fire button and the DNA just looks at me like yeah ok your atty is 0.001 ohms what do you want to test now dummy. Besides you have to hit the fire button to get it to read the resistance.

Yes, and I just double checked. Mod Resistance, set to 0. Uploaded to Device, and then Downloaded settings, to make sure.
I might try it with a few different RTA's or RDA's. Not all are equal, some might be adding more resistance than others.

Cheers,
Steve

You don't have to hit the fire button. You look at the resistance in the Atomizer Analyzer of Escribe!

Hmmm... that will teach ya to listen to me Mr. Wings.
PS - I did hit fire and the DNA protects itself just fine. :2c:

OK, thanks. Don't know if I have another RDA/RTA that will accept a 12g wire, but I'll see what I can come up with.

All I've used for TC so far are Wismec/Eleaf/Joyetech and X-Cube types, is there a significant difference in the quality of vape it'll give me?

All 'fanboism' aside, the DNA's work. There are quite a few customization and settings within the Escribe software which in itself is better than any of the other chip manufacturers have. The ability to monitor and record what the mod is actually doing is a real bonus.

"Quality of vape"? I'd rate it dead even with the others under normal conditions. The DNA's are limited to 6V maximum output. A good quality 26650 needs to be used to avoid serious droop as the battery discharges less than 50%. A few "no-name Green" batteries picked up at a local B&M proved to be unusable and a recent purchase Basen Black appears to be questionable.

The VT has a silver flatblade screw on the bottom that may or not need to be tightened, one of mine was a bit problematic - something I've never experienced with any other mod.

After spending the last few months vaping on just about everyone's chipsets they all can produce a quality vape given the proper settings and reasonable/reliable builds.

The VT75 is a nice quality mod.

Would be great if they sell the new cap separatly for the regular version.
I'm assuming the regular versions cap is bigger since it has to be the size of 26650's vs 18650's in the Nano. On top of that since the regular can take either battery they use the pin to secure 18650's because 26650 seem to be a tad longer even though they both should be 65mm long.

    Cheers,
    Steve

Well, I guess I need that calibration tool, but I would sure like to see what I'm buying.
@Petabread would you mind posting a picture of the tool? I'd really appreciate it.

Sure. I don't have mine on me at the moment, but here is one that someone shared elsewhere.

It's a 99.9% copper 510 threaded plug. As a reminder, screw it down tight, all the way, and open up atty analyzer, and use that value as your mod resistance. If it is fluctuating between 0.004 and 0.005, for example, you should use the lowest number. According to Evolv, it's better to set it lower than higher.

You're welcome! I highly recommend them to anyone that uses a DNA device. It's one of those tools that you end up using very often once you have one. I have used it at least 20+ times since I got mine last October.

If you snag one, I'm sure you'll be pleased with it. I really wish Evolv/DNA device manufacturers packaged them in with their devices. Having no Mod Resistance/the wrong Mod Resistance is very noticeable to a lot of people, and it kind of defeats the purpose of buying a DNA device to begin with - as many of us buy them because of their accuracy! Lol

I really like the looks of that plug. I've been reading a lot about calibrating the (DNA) mods resistance but had not heard of a tool like that before, thanks for sharing.

Would anyone know of a EU seller perhaps? Shipping from the US more then doubles the price for me unfortunately.

Or if I just take the base of an old RTA, pull the 510 pin and insulator and replace them with solder, would that have much less resistance thus give a more accurate reading then sticking a piece of copper wire in a RDA?

I have 13 DNA devices and I am glad they don't supply them with every mod. All you need is one. It is bad enough I have USB cables coming out my ears right now. :grr:
