Depends on what you call warm.... you can hook it up to EScribe and open Device Monitor and while vaping you can check the board and room temperature of the device.... Compared to a dna 200 the dna 75 will run hotter.

Warm as in quite noticeable in your hand, not anywhere near hot or requiring to set the device down.

I've backed out the battery door so it is flush with the case, gently snugged up the adjustment screw and the VT75 seems to be cooler. I will fire up the Monitor next time I have a chance, I keep forgetting about that bit of eScribe.

Who's idiot idea was it to mount the snazzy programmable LED beneath the fire button?

Turns out it will do a little light show when firing (shades of the xCube) but it's completely hidden.

Probable has more to do with the enclosure design than the location on the board...and the material used for the fire button... and external buttons can be used by the mod makers also...

That's ok... I can blame them just as easily.

Blame them for what...??? If you don't want or need the LED lights you can turn them off... if you want the LED light just design the enclosure to properly let the illumination out... seem simple enough to me...

I could care less about the little fire light but I sure am glad to see that most of the newer DNA mods are moving the display down towards the up/dn buttons vs centering it between the fire button and up/dn buttons.

With the display moved down the problem of the display ribbon cable getting pinched by the fire button should totally be eliminated.

I would guess the buttons are external to the board or maybe a special board layout by Evolv for Hcigar since they buy in big quantities... but just guessing....

Don't blame ya for not wanting to open your mod up.... I opened a few 200's and a few 75's and the mod builders still need to route the ribbon carefully so it doesn't contact the fire button....The buttons on the 75 are in the same location as the 200 as is the USB. The 75 board is just a bit shorter than the 200 because there is no battery balancing connector needed for charging series batteries.

As far as the buttons I don't know if they are using the buttons on the board or not. I do know that they are much harder to press than any other DNA mod I own. I am inclined to think they used external buttons but just can't figure out how they would fit all of that in such a small package.
Anyway I am happy with it and do know that on other Hcigar DNA units that they have a plastic retaining bar to keep the ribbon cable away from the fire button.

I use 26650s. I had a little trouble with "weak battery" warnings due to the battery sag but the test software that James posted made the warning go away. Obviously the 26650s still sag but I don't have to watch it flag me about it every time I take a puff.

Hi Sammy,

It looks like there is a test firmware out for the DNA75. I don't think this one is a standalone installer though. I think you already have to have the version installed from the first link. Here's what Evolv has to say about it:

It's a small change: some batteries can't push 75W, and more can't when they get to a low state of charge. Even when your power levels are 20W or so, for temperature protected coils you get a 75W preheat. So, we've reduced the aggressiveness of the Weak Battery warning to reflect the reality of the puff, not the preheat.

Weak Battery now takes about a second to appear. It also does the less-annoying thing of flashing the battery icon, instead of flashing a message obscuring the screen."

Has this firmware update worked for others? I am going to try it out tonight on one of mine. I know I am late to this post but just saw it.

It works for me with 26650s. Haven't had a weak battery message since updating. Actually I haven't even had the battery bar flash either. I have my pre-heat set at the standard factory setting of 1 second.

The red is my favorite. I haven't done an update yet but I think you connect your device, in escribe go to tool > update firmware, find the update you downloaded and apply.

It opens a File Explorer window so you will have to know where you saved the file to. If you use the Desk Top it will keep thinks simple. You can always save the file to a different location but I would just delete it after you install it successfully. You can always re-download if you need it again. Let Evolv worry about where it is kept.

Just opens the default location of where the update go. Win7 C:\users\"user name"\AppData\Roaming\Evolv\EScribe\Firmware

You don't have to put the update you download there you can just navigate to where you downloaded too.

With my system it doesn't always default to the default directory. So to save my sanity I just down load everything to the DeskTop. After I am thru with it I file it to a directory of my choice manually.

By the way on my system the directory you mention was split into ... firmware\DNA200 and firmware\DNA75. Probably a good idea to keep that strategy going. Loading a DNA200 update to a DNA 75 is probably a good way to brick a new device.
