You're welcome, I'm always happy to help.

It's new with the latest release. It wasn't like that before. You weren't the only one having a hard time finding it.

Cheers,
Steve

So my VT75 is scheduled for delivery on Monday. Looking forward to a DNA 75 in the collection, especially at the sale price from e cig city. Then today I got an email from them about a new, wood stabilized version of the VT75HCigar VT 75 Stabilized Wood Edition | 75w Temperature Control Mod

This never ends, does it? It is a tad more expensive ($250), so now I'll just pretend I got a really amazing price on it and ignore mine is only in boring black.

I guess I could look for some wraps...............

    I love this one

But not paying $250 for it though.

That thing is what meant earlier. *sob's* I directly felt in love with that one. But 250.....man...nope, can't afford that in any way and on top don't need a second device. I've seen something similar at JWRAPS which is "just" 13,50 as a wrap, so that might be my solution perhaps. :(

Yeah, I was thinking a wrap as well once it arrives. I put one on my silver (plain not the brushed) Pico which is a black textured leather feeling wrap and it really dressed it up. I guess I'll see after it arrives whether it needs a face lift or not.

Here's an eScribe question. I have 1.2 and used it to update the firmware on my DNA 200's which work great for SS316L now. Will the same eScribe handle the DNA 75 as well as far a firmware updates? I thought I read there was a period of time when that was not the case with earlier software versions.

I'm using the newest Escribe that came out on 8-8 (1.2 SP3). They also had one that came out on 8-5. The 8-8 version fixed a few bugs. Both versions can be used on all DNA chips (60, 75, 200, and 250)

If it was the VT200 I'd consider it.

You know what they say about guys who need big attys right?lol
I just ordered a new Basen black 26650 ($7.99).Not happy about the fit of the 18650 in this thing so I figured since this is my only 26650 device it will stay in the mod and keep me from having to swap it.101Vape is having a good sale right now so I also picked up a couple of HG2's ($11.00 for 2)

Mine just showed up, along with the 26650 green Efest from IMR too. Yay! Battery is off charging so I'm just playing around with it my hand until I power it up. First very early impressions. What's up with that beauty ring? I can't see any reason for it with smaller tanks. Second, it's smaller than I expected (good thing), just a bit wider than my CF4 18650, due to the thicker battery compartment. Third, the finish. It feels fine, and the black surface is a nice texture, but given that texture, I'm not sure the aluminum it's made from feels any different than a quality plastic would have. Maybe I'll wrap, maybe I won't, decision is out on that.

Fourth, what's the deal with this battery cover? I took the 18650 sleeve out, went to put the battery cover back on, and after carefully threading it on (not the best threading I've dealt with and can see it getting messed up pretty easily) it keeps threading in. Is that normal without a battery in there? Does the battery cap only stop when it engages an actual battery? Sorta weird.

I am left with one question. After looking over the unit, and reading the instruction manual, it doesn't say how to insert the battery. I'm assuming positive side down (into the unit, positive pointing towards the 510 connector), is that right? Also it says it has reverse polarity protection for erring in that choice, but I thought DNA 75 and 200 boards didn't offer that.

Not sure about reverse protection but you are right about the positive facing up towards the 510. I think someone else on here complained that the battery cover will indeed thread past flush.I have to say if I would have paid more then I did I would be more then a little annoyed at this battery cap massacre. Why they have to make it so difficult is beyond me. Make sure you tighten down the ground screw on the bottom next to the battery cap.Mine was fairly loose.

Positive towards the 510, negative towards the battery cap.

The DNA200 chip doesn't have reverse polarity protection built into the chip since when it was being developed it was mainly for 3s Lipo packs. Somewhere along the way Evolv decided to support using 18650's and told manufacturers that they needed to use the daughter board that provides reverse battery protection. To my knowledge, the only one that uses that is Hcigar on the VT133. Others might but I don't know that for a fact.

The DNA75 however does have reverse polarity protection built into the chip. It's on page 11 of the datasheet.

Thanks on the battery direction. The battery cap/door threading doesn't bother me that much, but it is an odd design.

@Wingsfan0310 , thanks for the heads up about protection built into the 75. Your explanation for the 200 makes sense when viewed from the original design perspective.

Obviously as I haven't even turned it on yet waiting on the charger to finish up, but my first impressions are this is a really nice little unit. I'm happy with my decision to get it, and it's a lot of quality for the price point I purchased it at. At "full price", I'd probably be more critical in evaluating it as there are lots of other similarly priced units to compare against, but at this clearance price I think it's a steal and will go into use as a nice small mod for an out and about setup.
