I am new to this forum and very new to vaping. I received all of my goods 2 days ago, set them up and started vaping yesterday. I did hours upon hours of research on vaping/products, I didnt know vaping was so involved! Anyways, I ended up getting the Joyetech Ego C-twist 1000mah, with a mini kanger protank 2 and a mini vivi nova tank. I ordered my juice from Zeus Juice. Deciding on the juice was really hard for me as far as nic strength and pg/vg. I went ahead and did 70pg/30vg and 12mg nic. I have been a smoker of Marlboro Lights for about 15yrs and smoke just under a pack a day. I really, really want to quit!

So I got everything set up and started vaping yesterday. Immediately after the first/second drag- I got a headache, followed by nausea and just an "out of it" feeling. I figured that was normal because I have never done this before. I went yesterday for 8hrs without a cig- and vaped throughout that 8hr time frame....and had a headache, upset stomach the "out of it" feeling the entire time. I dont feel that I was vaping to much- I would only take 2-3 drags an hour- so I dont think I was getting to much nicotine. So I thought maybe it was withdraw because I wasnt getting enough nicotine...so I smoked a cig in hopes that would help. Nope, didnt help. Then I thought maybe it was the juice flavor, so I switched that out 2 times and that did not help.

So I got online and began digging again- everything I am reading said that those symptoms are either withdraw, nicotine overdose or a PG sensitivity. I ordered all of my equipment through virgin vapors and I remembered seeing that they carried 100% VG organic juice. So I went ahead and ordered a bottle of 100% VG and a 50/50 bottle both with only 8mg of nicotine (instead of 12mg).

The crazy part is I havent vaped since last night, had to go back to the cigs until I get this figured out....and I am still nauseas today :( but the headache has gone away.

Anybody have any advice for me...tips?? I really want this to work- I have invested so much time and money into this....and most importantly I want to quit the cigs for my health.

Any help/tips would be appreciated!!

Welcome to the forum!

Possibly nicotine withdraw. You could try upping your nicotine strength for a few days. You can always decrease nicotine by adding a bit of VG, but hard to increase it.

When I started vaping I got the same flavor in 8 mg and 24. That way I could increase/decrease nicotine if I needed to. - For me, I did need 24 mg for a few weeks to get off cigarettes.

It's difficult to say what caused your headache and nausea. You are taking the right steps to solve the problem. I smoked a pack and a half a day of Camel Blues and had no trouble with 24mg juice. It could be a reaction to PG, it could be a bad bottle, it might be withdrawal from tobacco tar. Don't eliminate the possibility that's it's in your mind, too. The unconscious mind is fully capable of all kinds of tricks to keep you smoking the cigarettes and avoiding withdrawal symptoms.

We vape pharma grade PG & VG which in most cases are both synthetic. Some suppliers do carry organic flavoring.

Sounds like typical Nicotine OD, instant headache, sick gaggy feeling in the throat, feels like you want to loose your lunch.... sweating shakey.. good way to recreate that obnoxious feeling is to lick a few good sized drops of juice and swallow it... you will be miserable once again... not advised tho!!

Probably best to smoke and/or vape as little as possible until you are feeling better and can figure out exactly what it is.

If every time you vape you feel a certain way, there ya go.

By the time evening rolls around, caffeine withdrawal can give me a real thumper because I drink lots of coffee in the morning. Just another possibility for ya.

Don't cold turkey the smokes and replace with vaping.
Keep smoking but *add* vaping to your behavior.
Drink plenty of water as vaping tends to dehydrate you.

This is what worked for me.
I just added vaping to my daily routine and deliberately did not try to quit smoking.
It took me a week of doing both and I gradually decreased my smoking till I quit.
Any time I craved a smoke.. I smoked.

Besides.. you are having an adverse reaction.. return to your "normal" habits till it goes away..
then simply introduce vaping gently.

So firstly, lets address the issues at hand.

Headache, alomst guaranteed to be induced by nicotine... I wouldnt go with withdrawal as it happened on the first drag which tells me the headache wasnt pre-existing. So even though you smoked a pack/almost a pack a day how much of each Cig did you smoke? Did you take shallow pulls and 4-5 drags a ...? Or did you hotbox the whole thing? Nicotine being delivered through vapor is more potent due to the lack of other chemicals that your lungs will absorb upon inhalation. its just a moist delivery system for a large amount of a single chemical. Though withdrawal could be an explanation I would also attrubute the nausia to the nicotine as well... Just because you're vaping it doesnt make nicotine any less toxic, just gives it a more substantial delivery system. Nicotine IS toxic to the body, it takes only a small amount to kill an average person, so if a larger amount than the body is prepared for is introduced the body responds, and you start to feel sick.

I would tell you to reduce your juice to 6-8 mg. And take easy pulls at first to see if its any better. Smoking a Cig will not help, its just making the problem worse (increasing your bodys nicotine level AND giving you carbon monoxide poisoning). If you want to try it without buying more juice you can get a small bottle of VG and add some in. Youre at 70/30 already so you could take that 12mg and reduice it down to 8-10 mg before your juice gets too VG heavy. Too much info? ok...
1) Reduce Nic level in your juice, if youre getting sick on the first drag cut it in half see how you feel.
2) get extra VG its a cheap way to cut your juice down... Youll lose some of the flavor but youll be able to test the Nicotine theory...
3) If no matter how much you reduce it it still happens I would either try a different juice company they might be using something they shouldnt in their juice... Or see a physician, dont play with guess work.

I hope this offered some helpful info and you figure out what the issue is, PM me if you like
And as always, Vape on :vapor:
EDIT- Improper use of your... ITS YOU'RE

Thanks jwoode. My plan wasnt to quit cold turkey, I actually didnt crave a cig at all during the 8hrs yesterday that I vaped. Maybe that was just because I was felling crappy with the headache and nausea. I have gone back to cigs since last night until I receive some different juice- but I still have the nausea even today with smoking cigs. Maybe I am just a weirdo ;)

UUUUGGGHHH!!!

I wish people would pay attention to what the OP has said.

#1. OP smoked cigarettes and still has symptoms = CANNOT BE NICOTINE WITHDRAWL
#2. OP smokes regularly and got the headache and nausea with only 1-2 puffs from the ecig with a 12mg nic level = CANNOT BE NICOTINE OD

That only leaves two possible options left.

The OP is either extremely sensitive to PG or is allergic to something in the flavoring. Odds are it is the PG.

Anyone who thinks that a nearly PAD smoker is going to have a nicotine OD from just 2 puffs of 12mg nic juice should get their heads examined. My wife smoked a PAD of Marlboro Light 100s and had no trouble puffing all day with a 24mg juice. If anything, the OP doesn't have enough nicotine in the liquid. No way is it enough to cause headache and nausea in just 2 puffs. Even a non-smoker wouldn't have those symptoms with that little nicotine intake. That's less than you would get from 2 puffs of a real cigarette.
