Unfortunately, we can't facilitate the purchase of products other than Nicoticket products on the Nicoticket ECF Forum. ALL cash transactions between members must be between verified members, and conducted within the ECF Classifieds. I understand the effort to purchase a REO for ASH is a "good faith effort" with "no harm intended" - and I LOVE that we are facilitating a family atmosphere and support each other... that said, when money changes hands, we've crossed a boundary. As a result, I am forced to close the thread "Good deed" thread immediately. I hope this explanation suffices - please, do Katy and I favor and limit the "eh, that's BS" posts if they are on the "tip of your tongue." We get it. We respect your right to speak your mind but ECF policy is ECF policy - Nicoticket and ECF are on the same team and I understand WHY they policy is in place - it's a slippery slope.

There is an venue where such transactions are welcome, ask a paste fiend for a link if you are interested in contributing.

Also - just as an aside - I do not mind if these kinds of transactions are conducted in other venues which we inhabit... BUT - there has been at least one instance of someone feeling "left out" when a vaperversary came to pass without a "surprise."

For example, I received a Bay City Vapor Surfrider for my vaperversary, bought and paid for out of "community fund" that the old school NT'ers (Taki is the Treasurer) have established. Despite the fact that I regularly contribute to that fund - I would NOT have taken it personal if my vaperversary came to pass without a "surprise." Any sense of entitlement is probably ill-advised. Katy, on the other hand, never contributes to the fund so her vaperversary came to pass without a "gift from the family" - and there was no expectation that there would be one...

I guess my thought is this - with regard to the distribution of items and administration of "the program," be wary of the fact that the possibility exists that bad blood (drama) may emerge as a result of unintentional oversights when it comes to the distribution of community funds. If at any time the whole "community giving" thing turns into a drama fest "over there" - we'll have to respectfully request that we discontinue "the program" in all venues. I guess what I am trying to say is - despite our best efforts, at the end of the day, the community fund is more of an installment plan than it is a "gift." It seems as though when 1 person receives "something for nothing" - it's inevitable that someone else appears and says "HEY - where's my something for nothing?" There is one steadfast rule - if you decide to participate, expect to give more than you receive, and conduct the transactions somewhere besides ECF. (please, and thank you)

No worries Clark! I thought it was not kosher and Distor knows what he should do now. It's all good! Walk the line my friend, I completely support you in this action. Personally it's better you shut it down rather than having you get hit if you didn't close it! That would make puppies and kitten cry...

Dang it, sorry about that Clark :(

Please don't make puppies and kittens cry! I love kittens!

Thats my bad there too bossman...i saw the thread and should have mentioned taking it to the other place....I am a bad bad boy :(

You did good and did the right thing...keep on trucking :)

No need to be sorry - there's no official 'ding' from ECF or any of that. Again, you all never cease to amaze me when it comes to your willingness to give. Please, be mindful of the potential impacts unintentional oversights might have on my business, and aware that there is a specific venue for conducting those transactions - and that venue isn't here.

I love y'all! #hashbrown #grouphug

Yeah you dug your "gift" out of us like a doctor going after a bullet! :p

I didn't get anything either but that was because I couldn't think of anything!

So basically if someone asks what you want and you say "oh nothing, don't worry about it..." expect nothing and don't worry about it. :D

That's why this rules of PIF are so meticulously spelled out on ECF. For it all being about doing the warm fuzzy, every so often a lemming goes over a cliff and gets their knickers in a twist. (Well at least that makes sense to me...)

I respect ECF and their rules - and I perceive myself as being on the same team as ECF. ECF and I have a symbiotic relationship and it requires respect and maintenance. ECF is just trying to protect the members, and the vendors, from solicitation by potentially unverified members of the community. The go to great lengths to ensure that transactions take place between verified members only, and that those transactions are conducted in the right location so that they can be monitored for impropriety. I for one am thankful I don't have to babysit those transactions, and I am thankful it has been taken off my list of concerns.

Im with Reno. I get it, but dont like it. I do understand though that this couldve opened a big can of worms as Clark eluded to. There does seem to be quite a few people who have expressed wanting to get a REO but are unable to afford it. At least theres the 'other' site if people want to continue these random acts of kindness.
