Smoked 45 years, before vaping in the morning I had 4 hours before having to go to work and would drink large amounts of coffee ( 6-10 cups ) and smoke 10-15 analogs.
Been vaping fo over a month, 3 days ago had a heart attack and a stent implanted. Anyone have a similar experience? Smoked 2+ PAD for over 40 years so I don't think
the heart attack was caused by vaping, if anything, I think the fact I stopped analogs and started vaping may have saved my life but I was vaping 18ml like a horse and still
drinking massive amounts of coffee. While in the hospital asked a nurse and they said anything to help cessation is not necessarily a bad thing. I think I was not keeping myself
hydrated enough. Have an appointment with cardiologist in 2 weeks and going to mention the e cig thing, curious as to what he will say. I imagine he'll suggest total cessation.
I'm thinking if anything I should cut my nic level to 6 or 0 ml if I am going to continue vaping.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0004449/There is many factors related to heart attacks. Caffeine and nicotine as well as many other drugs can effect the cardiovascular system. What type of stent did you have placed? My DH just had a open heart bypass surgery (Oct.) His situation with heart was occlusion.

Your thread is very alarming. If you need some help with sites related to heart disease let me know.

Been there myself. Im sure you have a strong history of family related heart problems. This is something caused by way of life and genetics. I highly doubt that vaping was any cause of this. Im sure the years of cheeseburgers, coffee, chain smoking and many other things help contribute to your problem. The best thing you can do is stay off the analogs. They are now going to give you blood thinners and beta blockers. Smoking analogs will only restric oxygen to your blood cells and make things worse for you.

Glad to hear you are ok but you need to change something in your lifestyle. Staying off the analogs is already the hardest part. Just keep talking to your Dr and follow his advice.

Guy I hate to hear the bad news. What cloggs up everything is the 40 years of cig smoking you did. Tar is the worst. Nicotine I'm sure didn't help nor did the caffeine but it isn't as bad as the tar in your arteries. Get well and try and have a wonderful holiday. Please keep us updated and what the doctor tells you. I'm curious to see if he's done his homework yet. My doctor has via me. I switched her over and now we're vaping partners. We always swap juices and gear just to see what we like and dislike. Good advantage on my part. She has money and I get to test drive. It's a win/win situation but she hits me up to try juice so it evens out. All-the-same, please take care of yourself and report back please.

Well, I did some research. Nicotine is a vasoconstrictor, it constricts arteries. So... I have come to the conclusion that vaping 18 ml/mg of nic did not actually cause the attack as it was due to stress, lack of exercise, smoking analogs for 45 years and poor diet but IMHO vaping 18 ml/mg of nic expedited the inevitable by constricting the already blocked artery.

Hoping you have a speedy recovery. I doubt the vaping caused the heart attack, I know I am not a doctor but the 45 years of smoking etc leads me to believe it was lifestyle. But I am very curious your heart doctor will say about your continued use of vaping since vaping is not regulated by anyone but the vaper and nicotine is a stimulant. Please let us know.

Again...feel better and continue to heal!!! We are all wishing the best for you. ;)

I am glad to hear you are alright! Did they say cause of heart attack? If you have a stent sounds like clogged arteries was the cause which is plaque build up causes a lack of blood flow. Do you also have high blood pressure? The worst to do is combine caffine and nicotine, which is coffee & cigarettes, but as we ex smokers know that was our fav fix :) So ask you doctor about the nicotine intake. The ecig is a way to get the nic like a nic patch or nic gum and ask him about the effects of nicotine on what you are taking now if you are on any drugs after the heart attack. That would be my suggestion. Medical background here :) bnrk

Most doctors who are open minded enough to do their own research condone the use of ecigs to get off tobacco. After all, ecigs provide the nicotine habit without the known carcinogens contained in tobacco smoke. That, and the fact that ecigs bear similarity to the breathing treatments used to deliver medication into the lungs by respiratory techs. They both use propylene glycol to create the vapor.

My doctor had never seen an ecig, but knew of their existence. I showed him mine and he asked for a demonstration in the examining room. He was impressed. I gave him some printed articles, he did the research on his own, and two weeks later he had pamphlets in his waiting room outlining the electronic cigarette as an alternative to tobacco!

There will be doctors who insist that you quit cold turkey, but they haven't read the quit rate stats between nicotine lozenges and ecigs. Nicorette quit rate is about 7%. Ecigs score in the 80% range, according to the articles you read and the anecdotal reports of ecig users.
