HEAT RESISTANT ROD FOR COIL WRAPPING AND ALIGNING?

Has anyone else seen the heat resistant rods that you can wrap your COIL for your atomizer. Once you install your COIL you can insert the rod and fire the COIL while the rod is still in there. Much like the ceramic tweezers. I seen a picture on a website a week or so ago and seen a picture of an rda and there was a black rod with different sizes on it ( I think it's called a step jig? ) from like 1mm - 4mm anyway the coil was being fired red hot while the rod was still in the coil and they were squeezing the coil with ceramic tweezers at the same time. I can't find the site they were on. Please if anyone has ever seen these and even know if they are real please let me know and also where I may go about obtaining such "Heat Resistant Coil Jig"

Thanks so much for taking time out of yalls day to help me

Maybe some of those ceramic genesis wicks? I know they definitely are heat resistant and wont affect your readings. Plus they did come in various diameters.

Ceramic Genny wicks are extremely brittle.

Thats what I was thinking. I too have thought about what could be used to build and test fire that would not affect resistance readings or be safe. I guess one could make mesh straws rolled to the desired width?

I always thought that a stainless steel rod or my drill bits would cause a short or problems if fired while the rod or bit was left in....

Rods and bits will short your build and get super hot. I've yet to see a rod designed to stay in the coil during firing. Why would you need such a thing? Wrap and mount your coil on the rod. Straighten and position it with the rod. Remove it, fire coil, strum coil , fire coil.....reinstall rod if needed but you shouldn't need to. You absolutely don't need it to burn in a new build.

You are absolutely right, there is no "need" but it would be nice not to have to put it on and take it off and put it back in. Im kinda bad with my hands and they shake, so many times when Im checking for hot legs and even firing, I mess up my coils, especially since going to 28g stainless. Its softer....

I understand...sorry. Whatever you use, make sure you allow plenty of time for it to cool down before removing it. Do you use a coil master, by any chance? I typically build spaced coils but the coil master seems to be a no muss, no fuss device. Build, mount, fire, strum, fire...wick.

Ive tried quite a few and honestly the ones that still work great are my screwdriver and this little jig, but I use it with my own drill bit , as i like certain diameters that they never seem to put into most jig sets.

I also have tried a couple like the Kuro, that are supposed to be easy, but had no luck.

Thanks that is what I was talking about. Do y'all know if it works without causing shorts?
I know I don't have to have one I just would like one, I'm into COIL art / COIL porn and it would just be nice to have

The rod won't cause shorts because it's ceramic. I would expect it to be relatively easy to crack though.

If you get one let us know how you like it :thumb:
