Hey folks,

Thought I'd consult to user base on this one and get a wider range of opinions.

I'm a long time vaper and have been through quite a few vw/vv box mods. I work in the Utilities industry and by default quite tough on devices. I am looking into a SS tank to reduce the breakage of glass thats happened a few times.

However the main question is ... Do you have or recommend any mods that can be considered drop resistant , water resistant ect. Rubberized Coating or similar is definately a bonus. I know of the e-LVT but being 3 years old certainly there has been new releases geared toward the construction / utilities workers?

Thoughts and/or recommendations?

Welcome to ECF.
Take a look at the GeekVape Aegis. I know some construction workers who vape and swear by the durability of their Smoant Battlestars. I have seen the Battlestar take considerable abuse from these guys and am quite impressed.

I'd have to agree that the Geekvape agis is going to be your best bet, especially if you need waterproof. The added bonus will be, most folks who have them using them in the kind of applications you are tend to be very happy with the mod's performance.

Best of luck deciding.

The Aegis is nice. Comfortable in the hand. Very solid. Just a heads up though, the battery dies like a mech. If you're vaping at 60 watts when you get to 3.5 volts it just starts throttling you back. The higher you go, the sooner it will do that, the lower the later. It's not a deal breaker for me. I still like mine. It's just a little annoying.

10-4. Iv'e been reading up on the Aegis most of the day and do like the features. I work in all weather conditions including emergency response during heavy rain and/or snow so the waterproof feature is a definate bonus. It certainly wouldn't be drowned all the time but consistent moisture would be likely.

In terms of the battery life and issues, There are certain things I can settle on. I do plan to use it with 26650's and have no qualms about carrying a spare in the truck with me. As long as battery life isnt capped at 4 to 5 hours or something far sub par then what I am used too.

Currently I'm using a Vaporesso w/ Artic V8 and after a spill the threading on the mod has dislodged and it rocks back and forth like its at a rave. I typically run a .5 @ 60 watts on 2 x 18650's and get a good 12 to 14 hour work day without swapping batteries. Normal vaping habits would be one or two 4 to 5 seconds hits every 5 to 8 Minutes while driving and less when out in the field as it currently isnt rugged enough to leave the truck and join me.

If postings are correct I assume there has been no adjustment to the battery sag or wattage regulation in firmware upgrades?

Among those concerns, This will be a first single battery mod and choosing a tank that will benefit a single cell mod is getting tricky indeed.

The firmware situation with the ageis is odd. It IS upgradable, but the port resides under the little plate in the front and require a really tiny torx bit to open (#5 maybe?) some people consider the first firmware to be the best some consider the last firmware to be the best. It’s safer with the most recent firmware but has the most battery life with the first firmware.
I personally run an aromamizer plus on mine with the small 10ml tank. I find though that a dual coil setup on it tends to eat battery so I wired it single coil at .3ohm with a 6 wrap 8x28ga twist coil and it works like a charm

There is no comparison to the aegis, it’s no doubt the toughest mod made. I own the Battlestar and it is a really good dual 18650 mod. It can take some abuse but isn’t everything proof like the aegis. The other thing with the Battlestar is the battery cutoff is 3.5 so battery life does suffer a bit. Being it’s not firmware upgradable I’m sure this hasn’t changed. Having said all that it can handle your everyday run of the mill abuse. It’s a solid performer as well. Good luck to you and I hope you get a setup you’re happy with.

Definately sold on the Aegis and an extra 26650 or two!

Now on to tank hunting. Never been much of a dripper as ya know ... Drippin and drivin doesnt work out to well. Though maybe new mod, new way to vape is the way to go!
If you really really want to avoid refills the aromamizer plus has a 20ml extended tank option. It’s truely huge though. Comes with 2 vape bands both of which are needed. The ageis fits very large tanks unusually well though.

There are a few tanks that offer ss tanks or ss cages for the glass. There are also a few that offer ultem tanks as well. The Horizon Tech Fireluke has an Ultem 5ml replacement tube you can order. Would offer a similar type vape to the Arctic v8. I get good coil life from mine. There are quite a few large RTAs that come with an ultem tank. The Sherman comes to mind. Expensive but there is a good clone available.

Aegis can handle any tank out there. This is the Aromamizer Titan, a 41 mm tank. It overhangs a little, but on every other mod I own other than the Hammer of God, it looks absurd.

What kind of vape do you want? Cloud chucker, MTL, restricted lung hitter?

I bought the 20700/21700 battery cap for my Aegis so I would have more battery options.[emoji106]

As did I. They’re available from the geekvape website if anyone is looking. I was surprised to find that it doesn’t stick out the bottom at all. The cap is merely thinner to make up for the increased length

So the wife grabbed me another 26650 from a local vape shop today and charged it up for me. I believe its an EH IMR 26650 ... Aegis didn't like it. Throws its hands in the air and basicly sais "Battery Weak, Lower Voltage". Am I right in assuming that battery just wont suffice in this mod? Running Aspire ARC coils at .13 on 60 watts. Had to dial down to 40 watts for the above battery which was nothing but a trickle of vapor if any.
