used to be a heavy smoker here, couldn't find anything that really satisfied me after spending a lot of money until I found Halo's juices. Premium quality, plumes of smoke. Try out the Torque 54 and Tribecca with smok Tech Cartomizer if you like a strong hit OR if you like a milder more flavorful hit try the Vision ViVi Nova.

4 days vaping on a disposable. My lungs hurt just thinking about that.

There are much better options and you should be able to find something that works for you. There is no right answer really for the perfect ecig or ejuice flavor. It's what works for you. Disposables may even work for an occasional light smoker.

Plan on it being a process because your needs will change the further you get from smoking. Technology changes almost as fast, so don't over buy anything yet. Have backups but nothing more.

So many responses, I read them over and over all day and want to thank you all for your input. :toast:

@Herdo - your guide was fantastic, and the video about Volts, Amps & Resistance was very helpful!

@Bullette - If I could afford a Porsche, I probably wouldn't care about the potholes in the ranch, hell, I'd just buy another, and another, and another. You crack me up! Woof back at ya!

@money4me247 - great info, bro!

@Cigarbabe - sorry I missed the show, will try to catch it next week - thx for the info and  re: Apollo

@Yves - I wanted the sleeve collar but couldn't get it at any of the (4) stores I bought from today. Hate to order a $1 part and pay $5 shipping, but I will definitely get that for my Novi if the Novi is the winner!

@Maxperilous - thx again. Not trying to sound redundant, but the foam where you put the drip in comes with the 306 atomizer, right? I don't have to buy the "cartridge" separately, right? Also, after putting 2-3 drips in, about how many puffs do you get - 10, 20, 100 - before you have to put more in? I know you said I will taste it, but just an estimate so I don't burn it up would be great.

@cdunn96 - I gave your post some serious thought. If the ego-c twist is not enough for me, I will go down the route you suggested.

@SuziesMom - got some 32mg (almost the 36 like you suggested), thx. I bought mostly 24 for now, but if 36 is it I will order more quick!

@JimN - thx for the info - your flavor post (that you linked to) was where I found the "SILVER LEAF MENTHOL" flavor that I bought today. Sounds really good, appreciate your help!

@Kopfstimmen - was going to buy the flavor you suggested, but only offered on their website at 18 mg.

@kylnnn - "10 months free of the stinkies" - now that's inspiring!

@asha23 - great post, used your suggestion and ordered a sample pack from Halo - but omg, El Toro is SO expensive! Once I win the lottery, I'll buy a few of those I guess ;)

@Debadoo - after reading your post, googled all the places in L.A. and surprisingly - not very many. Only found 2 places, both far from me (keep in mind, 20 miles in L.A. is like 200 miles in Texas, timewise). Called some local smoke shops but all they sell are the disposables or e-cig kits - no e-juice. So I ordered on line after all. But I will keep my eyes open for one.

@Cyrene - no fruits for me yet, but I will keep an open mind....thx.

@stevo9 - not "THE" Steve-O, I take it? (You are in SoCal, so ya never know.) Can't access the link (probably cuz I'm a new member), but will try again tomorrow.

@Hula - thx - so I press it 5x to turn it on, then hold down for 2-3 seconds and suck in to clean it?

So here's my update:

I went ahead and ordered a bunch of stuff today, total spent was $170.79. That's a little less than 3 cartons here in L.A., so if it works and helps me quit or even cut down, it will definitely be worth it. But if not I'll write it off on my taxes as a "gambling loss" or maybe a "medical deduction." :p

Here's what I got:

(1) eGo-C Twist Battery, 1000mAh
(1) eGo-C Twist Battery, 650mAh
(2) eGo Series - USB Battery Chargers
(1) 306 - v2 Low Resistance Atomizer
(1) Cherry Vape Cannon Drip Tip (306)
(2) eGo Mega Dual Coil Cartomizers
(1) Vision Vivi Nova 2ml Tank, 1.8 & 2.4
(1) Vision Clearomizer - Version 3
(1) Halo Sample Pack, Variety Pack, Nicotine Level 24 mg/ml - XHigh
(1) Rawr E-Juice Sampler: Tobacco ejuice_sexy_sampler_tobacco , 50/50 PG/VG, Menthol Blizzard (7%), Nicotine Level 24mg
(1) Silver Leaf Menthol - 6ml - Fierce (3.2%)
(1) Silver Leaf Menthol - 6ml - Medium (1.6%)
(1) Silver Leaf Menthol - 15ml - High (2.4%)

So I will try all that and hopefully find a good combo that works for me (and also the wife says she will give it a shot.) I will post an update on here after I receive and start using it, and also (hopefully) after the analog cigs are gone 4ever. Until then, thanks 4 all your help and enthusiasm - much more than I ever expected when I posted the original message, and deeply appreciated!

Looks like a spot on investment! Well Done!:toast: oh - and yes the 5 click on/off switch is just for that when you're done vaping and putting it away in your pocket, or wife's handbag. Otherwise, once you're on, you're on.

... total spent was $170.79 ...

My total in the first month is $170.24. Just about the same, but I don't have near the hardware you have. All I have is a 650 mAh eGo-C, 1000 mAh eGo Twist, 510 manual, and tanks for both. I also have about a years supply of liquid, but I quickly got into making my own, so the total cost of liquid was low.

I look forward to a follow-up after you get all your stuff.

That looks like an awesome start!

I will be shocked if you dont put the cigs down after receiving that. Or at least cut way down.

Dont know where you are in LA but pbusardos site lists a few stores in the L.A area here Taste Your Juice | BRICK & MORTAR LOCATIONS

The key for me was finding a juice i liked after that it was easy. Best of luck no matter what you seem to have a great attitude about it though so I think you will do well.

So Calif
Welcome to ECF. Yeah there aren't many stores in LA but you get out east and there is one off Alondra and the 605 named Vape Revolution and they have everything. There is also E Cig 2 in Hawaiian Gardens off the 605 near the Casino, and Vapor Bombz on Brookhurst in Anaheim. I lived in the area for years, most places are open Sat and traffic is not all that bad on Saturdays ;)

Just relax and try out your new gear. I smoked 55 yrs, the last 20 of them at 2 cartons a week and they weren't lights. You don't seem to get the drip tip info. You put in 3 drips and you get maybe 5 puffs, and you add more. Understand the draw on any gear is MUCH different than a cig. You don't hit it hard and fast you take it slow and long.

I'm not going to get into gear, you've had plenty of advice from what I read. I'd have chimed in more quickly but I'm down in the greater LA area working this week and haven't been able to keep up on the forum as much as normal. This may feel like rocket science but it isn't. You need to just relax, try different devices, juices, etc until you find what fits for you. This does work. If your frustration level gets high just light up a cig to get you leveled out again and figure out what's not quite right for you.

There IS a learning curve and some have it easier than others. You are you and no one else, what works for someone else might not work for you. Vaping and stopping cigs is a journey and it is one well worth the effort in saving your life.

Speaking solely from experience, I went with the Provari straight out of the gate and quit smoking after 19 years on the spot. Wasn't even trying to. I ran 18-20 mg juice and found that after a few weeks I was tapering down to 12 -15 mg.
A co-worker who is an avid vaper helped me through the learning curve. I run 3.0 single coil carto's from provape.com along with their 2.5 tall skinny tanks.
Every person I've run into has a different take on what works for them. My friend that got me into vaping LOVES his Vivi Nova tank but I found them to be a little flat tasting and a lot more of a hassle. Not at all trying to trash Vivi's, just not my thing.

I smoked a small Ecig for about a year and it never was strong enough to do much other than give me a buzz if I smoked it too long at one time. Going to a 6 volt setup was the best thing I ever did. Find a juice that you really like and stick with it.

Pwitte,

That's a lot of info to process, wanted to post yesterday but I didn't have time to reach the end. It looks like you got set up with some great gear. I started my e-cig journey at the start of AUG, and have spend tons of money trying to find the right set up. I smoked about a carton a week, PAD on week days and the rest on the weekend.

Someone said that the disposables were junk, I disagree with that. They are super expensive but many of them offer a decent ammount of vape and throat hit(TH). I use blus sometimes when I am drinking because the habbit of flicking the ...., and smoking in general is ingraned into my being drunk. A fresh one, with a long slow drag produces what I need, without the gross taste of my wife's real cigs.

I figured out through some messing around that I can use pre filled blu cig refill cartos (get em at walgreens for 15 bucks for 5) will make a great emergency juice if you run out. It fits right into the 510 connector on my twist. Just make sure you dial it all the way back when you do this.

I started on the vision stardust v3 (they have long wicks, and the coil head is changeable). I prefer the taste of dripping as opposed to using my cartomizers, but dripping and driveing is dangerous so I keep them filled.

I started with the high content juices at 70/30 pg/vg mixes, tried many different flavors. I found myself vaping consistantly, but the higher nic content flavors were kicking my ...., and I found I prefered the lower content and the chain vaping sessions.

When you are trying to quit smoking, having a support group and something to keep you occupied is important, and in this forum and vaping you now have both. I look forward to hearing your thoughts after your gear arrives.

Good Luck

I smoked a pack and a half a day Camel non-filters started with RY4 18 mg juice and it gave me a headache so I found a store locally that I could try a bunch of different juice and settled on of all things pink lemonade! Dont judge it tastes great made all the difference for me lol. I thought I wanted a tobacco flavor but it seems not took about a week I still smoked like 5-10 analogs a day but i just quit them altogether after that first week. The place I went to was in San Gabriel and just being able to try a few different juices made a huge difference. since than I have found a few different places local to me (im in downtown) so if you need a list of places PM me and I will send it to you.

@thereldevo & @ImThatGuy - I'm in the valley, so downtown, San Gabriel, Orange County, etc., are all too far to go on a regular basis. Are there any places in the valley area that you know of?

P.S. I don't have PM ability yet, apparently, nor was I able to respond to private visitor messages. So I have to post here for now.

@Hydrophoid - Thanks so much for posting! I keep a couple of Green Smart Living e-cigs (from a convenience store) to have with me when I go places and want to be discreet. It never occurred to me that the battery has 510 threads! I've been trying all my toys on it, most of which look stupid, but a regular black eGo atty & cartridge is a trip! It looks like a white pen with a black cap that lights up green on the end. :p It vapes okay too.

Looks like you are all set up, best of luck to you. You can do it, keep playing with it till you find what works for you.

Just want to add that the Provari is not a complicated device. Works great and to me it is much easier to use than the other vv tubes. I did not jump into the Provari, waited over two years after I quit smoking. If I knew then what I have learned since, would have just gotten the Provari and saved money on many of the others.

I have used or still use: mini, 510, 401, 801, 901, ego, bomshell, lavatube, gs sub, l-rider, Black Beauty, saber touch, ego (all of them except the twist), custom wood mod, roughstack, Indulgence, Mr. Puffer and the Provari. My point is sometimes it takes trial and error to get where you want to be. I have a friend who has never used anything but the 510 and she quit smoking over two years ago. Each person is different. I like to play and some don't.

    Somewhere out there
I actually got back into vaping by buying a disposable. It was actually not too bad, especially the menthol. It took me 6 wks of vaping and smoking until I finally weaned off cigs and loved vaping so much more. I say get a twist, get some cartos, clearos are too finicky to start with, and get some good juice. Give it time, you'll get it :) bnrk

306 atomizer + driptip is all you need (make sure it's a 306 drip tip like the cannon from cherry vapes). I drip 2 drops at a time and get anywhere from 4-6 flavorful drags before I need to drip again. May sound inconvienient (lol i cant spell) but soon it becomes second nature. I prefer this method because of the TH (throat hit) and the vapor I get from this particular setup. Thats also why I suggest to get a few things, carto, atty, tank, etc and try em out. Most can be had for around $6 each and also you will want more than a single one incase one you don't like or you burn it out (like my first 510 atty).

Keep us posted as you go I'm excited to see what you wind up getting and trying. What you liked/didn't like. I especially want to see you succeed in getting of the stinkies as someone said earlier lol.

BTW My provari shipped today and my wife got her Lavatube in yesterday. The lavatube is actually a pretty nice device though she hasnt let me play with it much lol. My provari will be here soon though I'll let you know how it goes.

Edit: should ahve finished the post reading before replying. Looks like you got a GREAT starter setup and I'm glad to hear the wife has taken an interest as well. Keep us posted man. Happy Vaping and I hope you enjoy that 306 as much as I do

OH and I never really thought about the whole dripping and driving thing. My motorcycle is my only means of transportation and I'm one of those ATGATT (All The Gear All The Time) riders. Hard to take a vape doing 80+ mph with gloves and a full face helmet on

Btw you have to just post like 5 - 15 more times and you will have all the sites features unlocked including PM's etc.
