I actually do not vape (aside from the occasional taste of a nicotine-free flavor), but my husband has just recently switched from smoking to vaping. He's still kind of unwilling to say that he's formally quit, but he's been without a cigarette for about two weeks and, unlike when he tried to quit cold turkey, is doing fine. I'm trying to persuade him that he actually does want to keep his sense of taste.

Anyway, I want to start blending eliquid for him. I'm fascinated by flavors in general (I'm neurotic about my baking too), and it would provide significant cost savings. Also, his favored blends, which tend to be silly simple things like lemon and mint, are not nearly as easy to find cheaply or locally as I'd expect.

Oh, I have! It seems very affordable (really though, even many of the expensive flavors I've seen would be cheaper than smoking - but I like to cut costs where I can).

Welcome to the forum!

DIY is an excellent money saver. If I was trying to get someone to switch to DIY recipes, I'd tread lightly, lol.

However, don't go cheap on the ingredients: there is a big difference between the flavors of different brands. Caramel from Brand X does not taste the same as caramel from Brand Y. When following recipes, make sure you use the recommended brand of flavoring, it can make the difference between a satisfying vape and garbage.

When I experiment and am not positive I'll love the result (learned the hard way on this) I sometimes make a first batch without nicotine (10 mils using the 100 drop method). That way, if I don't like it, I'm not out the most expensive part. If I love it, I can mix the rest of it up with nic and I'm in business.

You will want to scroll down to Sir2fyablyNutz thread, he lists most of the places you can find recipes.
Re: First DIY Order
How hard is it to get in to DIY liqiud?

Thank you so much for linking me to so many resources! I've been reading up about things, of course, but I hadn't thought of the blogs yet.

Thanks :) It's actually the name I'm using for a hopeful baking blog (we'll see if that one actually happens...) because I'm quite fond of sciencing my baking.

I'm a bit of an obsessive researcher, and very badly want him to stay away from cigarettes, so I'm doing what I can to encourage that.
