So I'm a long time lurker and I've already got a pretty good lay of the land. Watched a lot of GrimmGreen, Phee, and DrVapor on YouTube. I decided to avoid all the BS with the 'entry level garbage', and go straight to a Great Lakes Vapor GLV2. Now I just need to get enough posts so I can PM Jay about my custom color cfg and engraving. I'm thinking Solar Rain endcaps and a Black Lava body with a black 510 carto and a red anodized drip tip, or maybe the contoured stainless widemouth drip tip. I figure why waste money on the cheapo starter kit when I know I'm just going to ditch it for a mod in a couple weeks anyway?

Hi and welcome to ECF. Some people are quite content with their first purchase, others not so much. Going straight to a mod might save a bunch of time, frustration, and money. Most nuBy's don't know much about PV's when they first get started. It looks like you've been doing a bit of homework though so that'll help. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Yeah, I've been playing forum for pc's and cars forever so I'm used to the drill. I don't have "Have you used the search feature on the forum for XYZ yet?" on cut and paste but I don't really see to much of that here and it's kind of refreshing. I suppose because so much of the ecig/mod/juice issue is so much opinion based and quite subjective. I know I'm going to end up with at least a few mods since I like to have a selection of toys in all my other hobbies. Since I'm getting a 5v regulated GLV2, next is probably going to be a variable voltage setup like a Sabre Touch Varivolt by Vapor Moon or the new GLV3 variable voltage box mod.

The next thing is juice. I'm really tempted to get some 100mg unflavored pg base liquid and some 60/40 pg/vg and starting hitting the flavor shops. When I can mix like 600ml of juice for $100 it makes it hard to pay $10 or more for 6ml stuff, and after all the stuff like China putting gypsum in dog food etc, I'm not certain the PG and VG they use in the cheaper e-liquids are USP certified.

they tend to recommend NOT starting with 100mg nic base when first starting out. Check out 36mg maybe

I have no plans on vaping 100mg base. It's the cheapest base to buy and its easier to do the math when mixing.

For example: 1ml of 100mg PG base + 1ml of flavor + 3ml of VG + 5ml of PG= 10ml of 10mg 65%PG/35%VG juice.

Doing that math with 36ml base would be a lot more complicated. 2ml of 100mg base per 10ml of finished juice =20mg/ml juice etc.

I appreciate the concern, and it is duly noted. I grew up on a farm handling poisonous chemicals and took advanced chemistry in highschool and college so I am aware of the risks, and acute nicotine poisoning is a possibility for new vapors who aren't aware of the inherent dangers. I plan on starting out with no more than a 20mg/ml concentration.
