Based on the ads and coupons on this site I purchased the Ultimate Automatic Kit from Vapor 4 Life. This thing: Vapor4Life- Electronic Cigarette: Vapor King Ultimate Auto Starter Kit. I'm really enjoying it so far. I haven't gone back to analog cigarettes at all yet.
Unfortunately, I have developed quite a sore throat after using this thing for about a week. Is this normal in the beginning?

I just ordered my second set of cartomizers and I look forward to trying some new flavors. Thanks everyone for creating such a wonderful forum.

Yes, you need to drink more water. Drink water like you were a camel getting ready to cross the desert.

Edit: and Welcome to ECF. The adventure is discovering the new juices.

Congratulations and Welcome to ECF.

I have been having the same problem since starting with e cigs. i wake up every morning with a really bad sore throat and usually have a stuffy nose. Havent quite figured out about the stuffy nose as of yet (maybe im just gettign sick) but just drink plenty of water and usually the sore throat will go away quickly. PG and VG in the e juice absorb moisture (so ive heard) and can dehydrate you, so just grab a gallon of water and vape on.

Great to hear to got off analogs and that site/shop is amazing. About the sore throat issues; it happened to me as well my first week and second week vaping but seems to have calmed down a lot. Though, I have heard that some people have allergy type reactions to PG. I'm sure someone else will be able to explain it better as I've only been vaping a few months so still fairly new to it myself.

Welcome to ECF Forum. Glad you found us and thrilled to read you are doing so well at dumping the cigarettes.

You are not alone when it comes to a sore throat. I think part of it is your body healing from cigarettes and part of it is adjusting to vaping. In 99% of the cases, it seems to pass quickly.

You most likely will find your taste buds healing and changing as you vape. So if you have a bottle of liquid you don't like now, hang onto it. You might like it in the near future.

Welcome & Happy Vaping,
Paula

Unfortunately, I have developed quite a sore throat after using this thing for about a week.

I had the same problem until I switched to 100% VG juices. Some people's throats are more sensitive to PG. When ordering your juice, try to look for 100% VG. I get mine from Alien Visions. You still need to drink some water, but this eliminated the problem for me.

You also get cold like symptoms from quitting smoking, or I always have. It can take a few weeks even. It's very much part of your body getting rid of toxins. Water, as stated, will help you replenish. Just don't over do it. Too much water is no good either.

I have only been analog free for 13 days now and have been feeling like a cold has been coming on after the first week. Hopefully it will pass as i get < 2 weeks in.

Welcome and congrats on the switch! That's a decent kit you got there. I believe those are basically branded KR808D-1s, so if you want to buy more cartos or accessories, make sure they fit the KR8.

As has been said, sore throat is normal, at least at first. PG and VG are both hydrophilic, which means they absorb water. You need to replenish that water, so drink more and that'll solve your problems. I drink a lot of water daily anyway so it's never generally a problem for me, but it's one of those adjustments you have to make when you switch. Minuscule price to pay for quitting the nails, though! Keep at it, there's a big scary world of juices, devices and mods out there for you to discover if and when you're ready -- or you can stick with what you've got if it satisfies all your needs.

I'll give VGs a try. My new Cartos just came in and I am loving the sweeter, non-tabacco flavors like vanilla frappe. Vapor4life even sent me a free butterscotch one. Loving it so far. I want to get through the rest of my cartos though before I order more.
Also, every other time I've tried to quit smoking I've gotten really nasty colds. I can tell it is only a matter of time before that happens again. Small price to pay for avoiding emphysema.

Thanks for all the support everyone

The last time I quit smoking (more than ten years ago) I developed flu-like symptoms and sores in my mouth as the toxins left my body. I switched brands more than three years ago and didn't have that problem when I quit this time - but your body can do pretty weird stuff to you when you quit smoking.

I don't know if that's the cause of the sore throat (I suspect not) but I religiously drink eight 8oz glasses of water a day and that seems to help with the dehydration.
