Hi there, names Andrew and I'm an American living in Peru. Peru's pretty awesome. Unfortunately it got me hooked to smoking since a pack is only about $1.50 here. It's much harder to quit when they're so readily available and dirt cheap. Shipping e-cig stuff here is complicated due to all the BS government bureaucracy.

Anyway, I've been lurking around here for a little while and been reading about the different models of e-cigs. For me it's been hard to get a clear unbiased review of a product. I'm going to the USA for a while, so I want to buy one up there and get supplies to last me a while down here in Peru. So I need to make a good decision here, and I was hoping you all could help out. I have searched a lot and read up quite a bit, but your input would be appreciated.

I'm almost a PAD smoker, and would like to drop it entirely. I bought a cheap 3 piece mini e-cig here but it stopped working quickly and it sucked, but I was able to go analog free for a couple days, so I'm sure I can wean myself off it.

I'd prefer something relatively inconspicuous, easy to take with me, etc.. I understand the KR808 and Joye 510 have been the most popular models out here, but I'm wondering if that will take care of my needs. The eGo seems good but also seems a little big for my liking. Also, because I'm in Peru I'd really like to know how many different parts I should get for the long haul, extra carts or attys, etc. I need to be prepared.

So I'd like to know what model, and liquid (because I'll be stocking up on refills) you recommend, and how much in the way of extra parts to procure. Thanks for all your help, hoping to be analog free in a couple weeks!

Hola Steelersfan
Those Egos are not really that big as to attract much attention. I use a Kgo. It is the size of an Ego. It just has a higher voltage battery. The size we are talking about resembles a large Mont Blanc fountain pen in my view. Not crazy big. A 650 mah Twist battery is the same size too.
My Kgo battery lasts all day before I recharge it. I received 2 batteries in my kit. Using them on alternate days, they lasted great for 8 months then wouldn't hold a charge well after that. If you purchased 4 Ego/Kgo/Twist batteries you would be good for a year.

Thanks for the suggestions. The eGo is growing on me as I read a lot of good things about it. I think I'm going to buy materials to make my own liquid also, because it seems much more cost effective and should last me a while down here. I have some experience working with chemicals and measuring out amounts and whatnot.

Good idea Bullette about getting the extra batteries and rotating them. Definitely will do that.

You might want to look into something that takes a replaceable battery, they do make smaller tube apv's as well as box mods, but from the sounds of it, you might have better luck getting batteries than you would a replacement cig look alike or ego.

That said if you do want to stay with something that looks like a cig I would agree with the Volt, always make sure you have more than enough batteries, in your case where you are spending most of your time where it would be harder to get, I would suggest looking at what you think you would need, then double that for your original backups, then double it again taking into account the hassles you have there.

The Volt seems to be a great deal. I can get batteries shipped down no problem, it's the liquid supplies I'm worried about. I'd probably have to bring it with me to be on the safe side. They regulate everything down here, just to get some hair gel sent down you need permission from a ministry, I can only imagine how much worse liquid nicotine would be.

So I'm thinking of getting 4 Volt X2 batteries (2 650s and 2 900s), 10 5-packs of cartomizers, and at least 1 liter of DIY liquid supplies. I figure that should cover me until my next trip back at least, and it'll still be half the cost of buying a pack a day :)

So far your suggestions seem spot on, thanks everyone.
