I was referred to this forum by Awesome Vapor where I purchased my first e-cig. I bought the Mini E-cig Starter kit DSE901 and I really like it so far. I charged it up all last night and couldn't wait for this morning to start. Now I am having a few issues. The paperwork says that one charged cartridge should last about a month and the cig came with 5 carts. 2 labeled high, 1 labeled med, 1 labeled low, and 1 labeled no.

I put the high one in first and it worked great for a while, but then after about an hour of puffing once every few minutes the blue light would go from blue to flashing red. I thought maybe it was empty, so I put a few drops of the eliquid on the cotton which looked very dry. This alleviated the problem, but now it has returned. What is going on here? I am trying to puff long slow drags into my mouth as I was instructed, but I cannot fathom how one of these cartridges would last a month, I have topped off the cotton at least 5 times in an 8 hour period here at my desk. Never very much liquid, just 1 or 2 drops out of the dropper. Please help!

I have no idea about this product, but there is no way any cartridge will last a month. If you're puffing on it that often, you have probably drained the cartridge. drop into it until you see liquid pooling at the top, then dab the top with a paper towel and try again. That should get you some vapor for a while.

The only thing I can think the company meant is that you can refill your cartridge for up to a month before replacing it.

as for the flashing, generally that means dead battery. if you got two try the other battery and see what happens.

I agree with Urban cowboy. I have one that I do not use often cause I like the cartos on the smoke tip kr808d-1's. There is no way a cartridge will last you a month. Feel lucky if it lasts you an hour.

Well, that makes me feel a lot better, I guess I will just have to carry a bottle around with me.

The flashing red light does kind of bother me. It did that in less than an hour after I started using it. I wonder if it does it when it overheats. I was using it a lot that first hour.:p

I don't know about the specifics of your model, but flashing red may mean your vaping too much.

My blu detects and flashes if I drag more than 6 times in 1 minute.
It still works, but it's like your spouse nagging at you, "hey, that's too much".. LOL.
Maybe something like that is happening with yours.

that's a good point. it is possible that you are just over using it. Remember that the PV is not a cigarette. It isn't good for the PV if you puff on it constantly like that. You could risk burning out your atty. give it a good 10 or so seconds between puffs and see if the light keeps flashing.

Well, I think the battery is just dead now. It glows blue for about half a second then starts flashing. I let it sit for about 20 minutes and tried it again with the same result. I really should have plugged that other battery in before I left for work. Since it take 8 hours for the first charge.

How long should I recharge the current battery? I already did the initial 8 hour charge. Maybe just until the light changes to green?

The DSE901 is a very good product. Comparable in design to the Joye 510. Trades off vapor production and TH for taste and battery life. I love my DSE901. The atomizer runs a bit cooler than the 510 which is why there is more taste and longer battery life and why there is less TH and vapor. My 5V passthru produces tons more vapor and TH from the same liquid but reduces the taste when compared to using the battery. In some cases from a reasonably strong taste to almost nonexistent.

I think the confusion is the cart good for a month issue. The atomizer should last a month and I believe that's what was meant. The cartridge will last longer but will need to be refilled every so many puffs. Exactly how many depends on your style of vaping. Long slow draws with some time between draws will use the liquid more quickly than quicker deeper faster puffs. That's because the material in the cartridge does an acceptable but not good job of transferring the liquid to the atomizer. There is a whole subforum of cart (cartridge) mods (modifications) that try to fix this. I like the straw mod and it works well for me. I refill my carts about every 30-50 inhales but this varies on the type and flavor of liquid.

I think a 2 atomizer 3 battery setup is better. You can be vaping a regular flavor, taking tastes of a new flavor and have a battery charged and ready. Charging a battery can take longer than using up 2 batteries if they are used heavily, yet another reason to have that 3rd battery.

All this means your DSE901 is working fine, they just didn't explain things well in the papers they gave you. You'll fill a cart at least once before you need a new battery. You'll have to change batteries every 1.5 - 4 or 5 hours depending on how you vape. A battery takes about 2-3 hours to charge. Its better for the battery to recharge at the very first sign it is low, the first time it flashes indicating low (vs. taking too deep a draw). The batteries have a timer built in, not allowing you to take draw longer than 5-8 seconds (think the time is 8 secs but could be 5, don't remember).

They do have manual batteries. These don't turn on and off when you inhale but have a little push button. When pressed the atomizer gets current and when released it doesn't. There is no timer so you could hold down the battery for a full minute and the atomizer would be running that whole time. It would most likely burn out too.

Wow, I really like this forum. Amazing how many people are here and ready to get me into this. I have really enjoyed smoking, er Vaping, my cigs today. I used to smoke a pack a day of analogs and today I have only smoked 4. This is mainly because I still have some cigs left over, but once they are gone I am going to switch permanently.

daw840, welcome to the forum. I'm glad you enjoy vaping, me too! I'm not familiar with your PV, but it sort of sounds like a battery problem.

Also, go to the cart mod sub-forum and figure out how to make your carts last a wee bit longer between topping off. Your atomizer should (I said should) last about a month or so, the carts will last a long time but the filler won't, you can reuse the carts with an alternate filler if you like. The battery - I'm not sure how long they last, but they need to be replaced on occasion too. Seems like a lot of replenishment, but it can still be cheaper than smoking once you find your groove.

Good Luck, and happy vaping!

Honestly I was contemplating looking at the Blu e-cigs for my next one.

Don't buy a Blu, I haven't heard the greatest reviews on it from people, and most individuals who buy one of these tends to go after something better, being the 901 or the 510. Going from your 901 to this will be highly disappointing for you.

I initially wanted to buy one, just because of the excellent advertising they do. However, it seems as though adverting is the only thing that they can do adequately. I say this because their product seems to have issues with the atomizers and the vapor production, which isn't comparable to the 901 or 510.

I believe you made a very good choice. Welcome to the forums.

Hi Daw, welcome to the forum. I think you're going to find that vaping is a lot more work and prep than smoking regular cigarettes. That said, it's WAY worth it.

There's a couple things to know. First and foremost, get lots of extra supplies. Your first few months will probably cost you more than you spent on smoking. If battery life is an issue for you, then I would strongly suggest getting a Kensington and several passthroughs to use at home. For outside the home, make sure you always have two or three charged batteries with you and an extra atomizer. You will always carry a bottle of juice too.

If you are sure that vaping is for you, then you might consider purchasing a high quality mod that uses larger batteries.

Enjoy your vaping experience. Don't forget to try out the yummy flavors available!

Ok this may have been said already (I admit I skimmed thru the other posts:() But it sounds to me like an auto batt cut off, basically it's a "You've been vaping to much, put it down for a bit" deal. Best fix for that is a manual batt, not nearly as annoying as it may seem, i love my manuals.

As for Carts, I can go thru a fully filled cart (8-10 drops with a ptb mod filler) in under an hour easy any time, closer to 20-30 minutes if I'm playing xbox or at work. To my knowledge there is no cart available that could even begin to support 1 month of use and I believe it's been posted somehwere as a warning that any company that makes claims like that is pretty well lying to you and trying to take advantage of new/uninformed persons. Also any claim that 1 cart = x number cigs/cartons(in some cases) will also prove false. It's hard to judge how fast each person will go thru a cart as everyone smoked differently, so in turn everyone vapes differently also. And hardware makes a difference too, LR and HV attys will use more juice I believe, as will taking a hit with a warm/hot atty as opposed to waiting for it to cool.

What is the VK? Where can I look at them?

PureSmoker.com - Home of the USA Built PV !!!

KR808D-1 Starter Kit - Black 808D-1 Starter Kit [KR808D-1-KIT-BLACK] - $34.95 : Analog Alternative, The Smoking Alternative

Vapor King Premium E-Cig Kits Vape On!

all the same product (kr8080d-1) VK is the vapor king (last link)
this models a cartomizer, 2 piece design. the atomizer is built into the cartridge.
you can refill them with ejuice. the blanks at vapornine.com are the best ones ive had so far and ive refilled mine many times so far. you have to get good cartridges if you plan on refilling. now that i have good juice and good cartridges its working out really good and cheap.

i spend lots of money though to finally get to having a good setup. but now it will level off and become a lot cheaper than reg cigs. you also need to dial in the right nicotine level that works for you.
