Hi! New to the site but not so new to vaping. I've experimented on and off since 2009 with e-cigs like N-Joy, Lotus and various disposables. The only Lotus dealer here sold the starter kits for cheap but wanted an arm and a leg for the little cartomizers/cartridges. I liked the Lotus brand because it ''hit'' me just right and got me off the cigs but since I was going to a scooter rally I wanted something more reliable to use while I was gone. I found a little Mom&Pop dealer selling the eGo-T and that was perfect. I could wear it on a lanyard and hit it at stops, even while I was riding in the group.
This week I got my wife a set up like mine. I finally convinced her when I compared the price of maintaining liquids vs a carton of cigs every 7 to 10 days. The unit will pay for itself in 2 weeks plus have some spare change. She's been using it and is very happy with it. On her second day of vaping she thought she wanted a cigarette. She lit on up, took two puffs and put it out. She said it was just gross!
I've been a smoker for over 30 years and have tried to quit for the last 12. During that time I upped my game so to speak. I got into roll your own, tubes and injectors, cigars and pipes. I was mixing my own blends of tobacco using uncased pipe tobaccos and shags like Drum and Bali-Shag. When I started this I was able to make a pack of smokes for about 40 to 60 cents and even though the price went up gradually, it was still a lot cheaper (and tastier) than manufactured cigs. When the SCHIP tax hit I went from paying 3 to 4 dollars for 1.41 ounces to 9 to 12 dollars for 1.14 ounces. While still cheaper that factory smokes, my mixes where getting stronger and stronger as I sought out more pipe tobacco alternatives. BTW, uncased pipe tobacco is just plain tobacco that is not treated with flavorings to sugars. Much of it can be inhaled. What I was seeking was bright Virginia tobaccos and Latakia. Latakia is a ''smoked'' or smoke cured type of tobacco popular in pipe mixes and most of it comes from the Middle and Far East. I was trying to emulate a Balkan blend since imported cigs were stopped in 2009 with the exception of a couple of Canadian brands. Gauloise and other French brands were being made in Canada BTW but the FDA put the kibosh on those brands in the US.
Anyway, I was getting ratty lungs and all that and wondered if I would still be able to breathe come Summer in the heat and high humidity of Upstate SC. So, in come the vapes.
Been experimenting finding the right flavor mix and what type of cartomizer, atomizer I like best. Have a clearomizer that came with the eGo-T and a dual coil by smok. The dual coil took about 3 days to break in to where it's hitting just right. Have a replaceable atomizer of which I can not tell you the brand but it's my flavor tester since it can be broken down and cleaned. My main thing is tobacco flavors. Nothing sweet except maybe to hit a couple of times just for something different, like a flavor called French Pipe for example. A little of that goes a long long way. I've ordered some Latakia liquid. We'll see how that goes when it gets here. I know exactly how it SHOULD taste so I'll see how the liquid version stands up to my test. I'd like to get involved in developing tobacco flavors since I do (not bragging folks) have an extensive background in smoking all types of tobaccos. High end stuff too. I'd like to see a real cigar flavor, a good bright Virginia and dark roasted Kentucky blend and something that really hits the mark for a Balkan blend. Maybe just for fun a cigar and scotch flavor.
So, forgive my long post. That's who I am and where I stand. I'll walk to the back of the room now and read and listen as much as I can.
