Just wanted to say hello to everyone and thank you for all the informational posts I have been able to browse through to get me started vaping :D I decided to start with the Dura-C and so far I am loving it and have switched directly from analogs to vaping with no ill effect. My first choice was the vapor king but I could not get a response from them about any of their items, which is a shame because it was my first choice from the review I read :(. I don't know scientifically if vaping is better but I can tell you from personal experience that I was just in the hospital for a blood clot in my lungs and also had complications with fluid surrounding the lung. I have tried EVERYTHING on market to quit analogs with no success. I honestly can say that I feel better when I vape then I do when I use analog. My lungs are very sensitive now with the recovery and when smoking analogs I get short on breath and very tired. Since I switched to vaping I have no ill effects from the use. I have much more energy during the day and no trouble breathing. I am 35 years old so this makes a huge difference for me and just could be a life saver.

I do have a question about dripping. I like to use 1-2 drops of liquid before I vape. Like I said I use the manual batteries. I was just wondering if dripping will make your atomizer degrade faster then just using carts?

Thanks again for all the posts, they have been a world of help to me.

Welcome aboard, rav. Most manufacturers and suppliers caution against dripping. There is a whole bunch of discussion on this forum about dripping vs. cartridges. I think dripping gives a better overall vapor experience. But when you are out of the house or away from your desk, for example, cartridges are just simpler.

One to two drops is about the right amount for dripping. Any more and you risk flooding the little ceramic bowl in the atomizer that holds the heating coil. Most batteries can't heat the coil up enough to burn through the liquid so you have to blow it clear and reattach your power source. Higher voltage devices producing 5 or more volts, generally are able to vape off a flooded atomizer.

Manufacturers likely warn against dripping because if you drip onto a hot coil, you certainly can do some damage and shorten the atomizer life considerably. (Don't ask how I know this to be very true). As long as you allow your device to cool down before dripping again, the atomizer should be ok. With dripping, you should probably have a second device to use while the first one cools down a bit. You do not have this problem with cartridges as they release a steady, somewhat-controlled amount of smoking fluid to the atomizer assembly.

Manual switch devices are supposed to be able to handle dripping more because there is no auto switch to get gummed up. I agree with breakfastchef that about two drops is about right.

What typically kills atomizers is liquid build up on the coil. One member in the mod section hooked his atomizer up to a large power source and showed how he burnt all the built up gunk off the coil and it worked again. I have a theroy based on that experiment that a manual switched device with large batteries allows the atomizers to last longer because they are heated longer. I can't prove that other than I have a Screwdriver and haven't lost an atomizer yet.

Anyway, welcome and good choice in PV's.
