P.S. If I am only "kinda" or "maybe" adversely affecting my health w/ 0 nic and not inhaling...that's just a bit "whatever" in my mind.

Because I'm sure I'm getting a helluva lot more funk in my body just by eating those last two hotdogs and living every day in my currently inversion polluted city :p

exactly. :p

my story.

ive only been smoking for about 4 years, the last 2 of those at a pack a day. i got an e-cig because i could now 'smoke' in my house and my car will stop stinking (i just payed it off so i have a new incentive to take care of it).

i love vaping because i enjoy the ritual (looking for flavors, balancing charges on batteries, filling up carts, etc. much the same reason pipe smokers like their pipes) and the flavor.

i did not (and do not) vape to stop smoking, but i have noticed that i have cut back quite a bit (from a pack a day to about a pack a week) 'accidentally.'

EDIT: ps. i know you probably are sick of advice about your situation but i would suggest sticking with no-nic if you are/were not a smoker.

I do think maybe some folks are looking at you as if you are a something of a symbol of their own daughter or son (and by extension, their own selves); so just to play along here, if my beloved daughter or son or niece or nephew expressed themselves to me the way you just have, and had the history that you say you have -- I'd say, simply, "Do what you think is right".

I can totally see that and I do readily understand that perception. As concerned parents it is easier to feel weird and even oogy about our youngsters getting into this thing. However, I would highly highly encourage every smoking parent to have a little talk about this device with their child. This is because of the fact that they (smoking parent) already have a smoking history so in a child’s mind they already have some small unspoken permission to try either smoker OR vaping.

I have a lot of experience teaching children and I have noticed first hand how often we as adults talk the talk but don’t always walk the walk. We tell them to “be quiet” at the movies but then whisper with our spouse seconds later – it’s totally confusing! Young kids don’t know the difference and teenagers won’t care to analyze the difference when their mom or dad tries to take a moral standpoint. A teenager or young adult will just want to make their OWN choice and practice their “adultness” and whether that is influenced by social information, moral information, or factual information will follow AFTER that desire to express their own autonomy.

Better to give them factual information and ANSWER their questions. They will want to know exactly why it’s okay and “makes sense” for you as an adult (which is what they’ll become someday soon whether you like it or not) to do this thing all the time. If you want to steer them away tell them about the nitty gritty – even though vaping is healthier you still have to buy all the stuff, maintenance, get new parts etc. etc. Maybe there’s another “hobby” you can steer them towards instead but only after you’ve “shown” them what is really involved with “this one”.

Holy crap…I am a talker! I’ll stop here ;)

Oh and thanks everyone for putting in your story and joining the conversation! Even if I don't "quote" you and reply I still really appreciate you all for sharing!
