Hi!
There I was, minding my own business, when my dad (a long term smoker) said, with a serious look on his face "I really wish you would stop smoking. It really is just terrible for your health." My dad has never tried to stop me from doing whatever I liked before. This. Was. Serious. "I hear that your brother", he said, "is smoking one of those e-cigarette things. He says it tastes like cherry. Maybe you should try it." My brother, 2 years older than me, is also a long-term smoker. So I send him a message, and he responds saying it's the best thing he's ever done, and he can run for the bus without turning in to a panting, sweating mess; he's never looking back.
The next thing I know, he's telling me my dad's on the eCigs, too. My dad. Aged 66, smoked since he was 12, had been smoke-free for two weeks.
Well. Welllllllllll. CHALLENGE ACCEPTED.
I bought one of these (I tried to link to it, but it says I'm not allowed! It's a VIP Photon tank Kit at vipelectroniccigarette.co.uk). It's what my brother was using. It seems to be doing the trick. I never intended to quit analogues (I think that's the term you "proper" vapers use to describe ciggies), but it appears I have done. 13 years a smoker (yuck - I don't like to think I'm old enough to have been smoking for that many years!), and just like that, vanilla flavoured vapour has won me over. I still have two nearly-full packs of cigs at home, so prepared was I for this attempt to be a complete failure. I've only been tempted to smoke them once (and didn't! So ner!)
So, yes. I'm feeling pretty good about myself. I did think that I would be able to magically run down the street without collapsing, but it turns out that even if you quit putting tar in your lungs, > 10 years of zero exercise means you can't run. Seriously. Don't try. It hurts.
So - yes! I thought I'd introduce myself. I'm going to have lots of questions in the next few weeks. But here are a couple to start.
1) Is the ecig I'm using rubbish? I can't seem to find any posts about this brand, but I'm wildly guessing it's like the eGo? But, when answering, please bear in mind that this VIP Photon has probably been successful at converting me because re-filling takes one minute (less time than it used to take me to rummage through my handbag and find my ciggies and lighter). I've read about coil building and whatnot, and... well. When do I have the time to do that? Really? What if I'm dying for my nicotine fix, and I've built the coil wrong and... and...
2) Is there a "next step" from my eCig? Something "better" (whatever that means) that doesn't require me to build my own coils? I don't appear to be fussed about the amount of vapour I'm producing, as long as it tastes yummy and cures my cravings.
And finally - thank you guys. I've been lurking here a few days, mostly on this New Members bit, and seeing the positive responses you have all given to new converts has kept me going. And alleviated my boredom whilst at work. You rock.
