@Letitia
Tim from that1vape said this - "Importation of eliquid is illegal in India".
So I guess that is not any viable route irrespective of where it is shipping from !

One question - if I take the free max mesh pro coils (they have single and double etc etc), how would I know if it is compatible with my cascade? Is that even a correct approach?

No, you much always research coil compatibility. To my knowledge freemax mesh pro coils are compatible with the original Fireluke, Freemax Pro, and Mesh Pro. They may be compatible with other tanks that I am not aware of. I think Vaporesso has come out with a mesh coil but I know nothing about it's performance.

There are lots of lists sprinkled about that will tell you what coils go well with what. You can do an ECF search (do the one with "more options") although I will say sometimes google is more efficient at finding a particular ECF thread that you want, compared to the ECF search, and I don't know why that is, but it is.

I'd agree on just searching for low budget eliquids that may be somewhat discreet. I know FT does sell some, I don't know if they come plastered in "Warning this is Eliquid" labels, but they might even take longer to get to you due to shipping restrictions of liquids and stuff. I don't know much about FT eliquid but I know some have tried it and liked it fine.

I think ideally though, if you can find a vendor nearer to you that will still send stuff to your location, that may be your best bet. I'd imagine it's achievable.

Good luck!

Thanks. Will keep that in mind. The Cascade One Plus did come with a .18 mesh and .3 GT CCELL 2 coil. The mesh was good but in terms of flavour my (in!!!)experience is not able to discern too much of a difference. But flavour wise, both coils seem fine (at least to me !!)

@stols001
I think importing eliquid is a touch too risky. I am still worried about the hardware from ali and FT. But I am having some luck locally. I have finally found 2 flavours that I really like and they are made locally. So I guess I will stick to that. Some of the bigger brands like Naked 100, Cuttwood etc are available but they are damn expensive.
Will stick to brand coils for now and not try to play around too much, was just curious about coil inter compatibility!

In your "good startup setups for beginners" you state that your favourite tank is the Uwell. The link to FT has that product as discontinued, so is there a newer version that you recommend. I am just keeping my options open with the Zenith as I would like a tank that can support both MTL and DL so that I can use the appropriate coil and get the best of both the worlds. So please do let me know if there are any newer tanks you recommend

Not really. The subsequent versions of the Crown tanks are not as versatile as the original. For all intents and purposes, the Crown 2 was a bust. The Crown 3 is a decent tank but the coils available for it require very high wattages. Same for the Valarian by Uwell.

I'd suggest looking for another online vendor who sells the original Crown and also sells the coils for it. I don't know what vendors to recommend due to your location.

My Uwell still have the original Crown in stock. Around 23.00 USD.

Just checked - only the nickel coils are in stock! There seems to be no other local vendor with this tank/coils. It’s risky if I were relegated to relying on importing :(
Well, although Fast Tech is no longer selling the tank, they are still selling replacement coils for the Crown.

Replacement coil heads for Uwell Crown

I suggest getting a pack of both the 1.2 ohm (10 - 30 watts recommended) and 0.5 ohm (30 - 80 watts rec.) to see which one you prefer.

  • 1.2 ohm Single Stainless Steel Uwell Crown Coil - 10 to 30W
  • 0.5 ohm Dual Stainless Steel Uwell Crown Sub-Ohm Coil - 30 to 80W

I also recommend watching this video that shows how to prime and break in the coils.

Gotcha thanks. One more stupid question, apologies in advance - does dl /mtl have to do more with resistances or airflow or both? For example can I mtl on coils < 1 ohm and vice versa? So with the Uwell crown given that there is a 1.2 ohm coil (which seems universally out of stock!) can I mtl with that or is that more to do with a cooler vape preserving battery life and juice longevity?

Both airflow and coil resistance.

The 1.2 ohm coils do seem to be getting harder to find in stock. It could be that Uwell is discontinuing them although they are still present on the home My Uwell website.

It could also be that a lot of vendors have stoped ordering the 1.2 coils. After all, the original Crown is advertised as a sub-ohm DTL tank and therefore most users are using the sub-ohm coils. But the 1.2 ohm, although perhaps not a huge seller, work very well in this tank.

Please let me know if the below approach to deciding on the mod is fine (from amongst the recommendations)
What I have (or should be having soon!)
1. 3 tanks - cascade, zenith, Uwell crown
2. 2 LG batteries
3. External charger

Considering the above, 80W seems plenty enough considering the various coils and their resp wattages. Taking into account that I got 2 batteries, I am veering towards a single battery external mod that supports variable wattage up to 80W. That should cover all bases wrt the items I intend to procure. So from all the recommendations you guys have made, can I just pick out the one that satisfies the above and be done with it (for now of course!!!!!). I am thinking that anything more than one would be an overkill for where I want to be. Or am I missing anything glaring?

I recommend more than just two batteries. You could get by with just two, but you can never have too many batteries. ;)

An 80 watt single battery mod should be more than enough for you. I use a 75 watt single battery mod myself, but I rotate between 7 batteries to help extend their life. (They are left overs from when I was using a 3-battery mod.) Each battery lasts nearly all day in my current mod. Now that is probably overkill.

I don't have to charge batteries every day. I can easily go 5 - 6 days between charging. I also carry a spare charged battery whenever I leave the house just in case I will need it.

Nothing can incite more panic than when you don't have a charged battery to replace the one that just got totally drained.

You're doing fine and thinking correctly..in fact you're thinking too much. Just do it..whatever you decide...
My Wismec RX 200 goes up to 250 watts (after firmware update) but I have never used it at over 40 watts, usually 35 watts, and I tend to vape 1ohm coils if drop in - on most of my devices, 35 to 50 watts if using .5 ohm ceramic....5 to 1ohm if I roll my own kanthal (I tend to not use TC..but ss last long and works with straight watt output)
Unless you're a real cloud fiend I doubt you'll ever vape over 80 watts.. I typically vape Aerotanks at 1 ohm and no more than 15.5 watts.
So a single 18650 battery mod that goes up to 75 or 80 watts is sufficient and as you surmise- overkill.

Worth mentioning (to me anyway) are MTL vs DL... I don't know anybody who vapes vaping juice DL.
I'm sure many vapers will argue that one tank is better than others for MTL and so on. I chuckle.
If a tank or RDA make vapor you can inhale directly into your lungs (Animal!) or like most folks, into your mouth then wherever...it's a good tank.
As a matter of fact I don't even inhale nicotine juice anymore...Playing with vapor in your mouth lets the nicotine get absorbed through the mucus membranes in your mouth.
No need to inhale..unless there's a need to ;) or worry about anything other than whether the tank leaks or not, uses inexpensive pre-made coils that you can use with other tanks or not, and has plentiful vapor production or not.

Batteries? Two for each one battery mod you use..one to use, one to use while the other charges..or to have as a spare..(don't ever carry batteries in your pocket unless you carry them in a battery box or condom)

At this point I would just look at the single battery mods available to you and imagine which you would prefer to carry. Do you like where the fire button is placed? Does it look like it would be comfortable to hold? Do you like it's looks, remember you will be looking at it every day. Is the menu user friendly? I would advise you to watch a couple of youtube reviews about each mod that interests you.

I think you'd be fine with whatever single battery mod that appeals to you. It's a reasonable compromise given that you'll be trying both styles of vaping and I can pretty much promise your very first mod may not be your last, so just get going with something reasonably priced and get started vaping, it sounds to me like you have a good plan going forward and you certainly did your due diligence.
