Hello From Michigan

Hello,

For some silly reason when I turned 18 I decided to buy a pack of cigs. I really wish instead I purchase a porn magazine. After that first pack I kept smoking. There were multiple times where I would quit cold turkey, sometimes for a year or so. Every time I would quit quitting and start back to it again. My most recent stent was last November where I began my new job. It's okay to smoke in the shop and a lot of people smoke there. I again started purchasing packs of cigarettes. I was buying American Spirits attempting to avoid additives but at $8.00 a pack I began to realize the stupidity of it all. I only smoked at work, a half pack a day, and attempted to keep it from my fiancee. Dumb I know, but it's one habit I'm ashamed of.

I was listening to some commercials for a small local shop named Great Lakes Vapor Listening to a local rock station, the WRIF in Detroit. I finally visited their website and looked at their products. I was intrigued and wanted to visit but I knew it was going to be a big purchase. I came clean with my fiancee and told her I've been buying smokes since November. She already knew, obviously, but never pressure me to tell the truth. Thankfully when did admit to it she didn't kill me for lying about something so stupid, lol. I told her my plans of buying the GLV and she thought it was a good idea Her parents were smokers so she obviously has a hatred for them, but, she also knows the difficulties of quitting.

I finally got to visit the GLV store after work last Friday. $190 later I walked out with their 5v GLV v2, 3 small bottles of their drops in various flavors, batteries, charger, tip, and 4 cartomizers. The people there were extremely friendly and helpful. They tried their best to explain how to use their product, I'll admit, I'm still at a loss for the most part. It's already been three days of using the product, nearly continuously, and I haven't had an urge for a cigarette. Usually around the second day I would kill for a smoke and end up sneaking a couple while off work.

One of the guys at work has used only a vapor for 2 years now. I asked him some questions about it today and showed him my GLV. He was amazed to know I only started using vapor only a few days ago. He said normally people with my mod would have started out with cheaper versions first. I told him the reason why I didn't is because I knew I would have probably been dissapointed. So far I'm extremely happy with my purchase.

I discovered this forum off of a review from the GLV website. I've read through a few posts but it's extremely hard for me to follow the information. It's a whole different world to me. I used a quit smoking counter and was amazed to find out I've already "saved" $16 and haven't smoked 33 death sticks. I'm looking for any tips, tricks, methods, and sites to keep my new healthier habit going.

Thank you ahead of time.

I'll say! My fiancee has no problem kissing me now. I don't come home reeking of smoke. When I wake up I don't start hacking up "stuff" and don't have that nasty taste in the back of my throat. I don't have to worry about smoking in front of people, the "dildo" comments don't bother me, lol. I would NEVER smoke in my car but now I can. I can smoke in my cubical. The list of pros just goes on and on and on and on.

Hey Detroit - welcome to the forum

Step 1 - read all of the stickies in new members information sub forum
Step 2 - check out different posters juice likes and dislikes
Step 3 - don't order cinnamon or citrus or cola juice unless you have regular cartomizers or non-plastic tank ie: metal or glass - these juices will destroy a regular clearomizor or tank
Step 4 - do what you already did regarding equipment purchase - I started with local cheap kits from tobacco store and walmart and have now managed spend $600 on equipment and juice (started vaping 16 days ago - threw my credit card in a snow bank today to try to stop buying stuff - yes, I said snowbank - just got a fresh 12 inches in SD last night - you may get it tonight as it was heading east)

I smoked 30+ cigs for 36 years - quit the day I got my first e-cig and have not missed them at all

Good luck and good vapes

Sexy, thanks!

Dakota, one of the vapors I purchased was a Cinnamon flavor, lol. It's actually my favorite and is the best working cartomizer (I believe GLV sold me 501) I have right now. The thing is the gentlemen at GLV originally set up the cartomizer with that flavor in it. The other two are sweet flavors and are hard to hit off of, I set them up and I'm assuming I messed up the process. I read the stickies, but need to read them again, most of the stuff is over my head. Dear God... Please don't talk about snow. I have my car out and 550hp is not fun in the snow!

Q, where about in Michigan? The forum traffic here is pretty crazy!

Welcome to the forum! Glad you're enjoying it so far & I'm sure your girlfriend is happy that you came clean & decided to make the change on your own! If you love cinnamon like I do make sure you get some non-plastic tanks. There is a lil learning curve depending on what delivery methods you're using. Cartos alone drove me crazy because I was so nervous about them drying out I always over filled & ended up flooding them.

I know you probably hate the snow but I went to school in Lansing & I kinda miss it at times. Well not though all of march & April but I do miss the first couple of snows & the summers there. Ive been back for 3 years now & I guess the midwest is still in me because it drives me crazy when everyone makes a mad dash to the grocery store at the slightest mention of a chance of snow!

Thanks everyone, very friendly!

I just learned another good friend started vaping as an alternative. I also talked to the guy at work today and he showed me some sites to get cartomizers, Juice and other accessories (another USA company). I bought two flavors off of them at 18mg nicotine and 20% VG. The guy at work said he found 20% VG to be the best for him. I also purchase 5 2.5 ohm dual core cartomizers and an extra pair of batteries, mine run out of power on the way home... Man I'm using this thing a lot!

My calculator says it's been 5 days and 9 hours since my last cig. $17 saved and 44 cigs avoided. Extremely impressed.
