Hello, all. I've been vaping for about two months now. I started smoking again when I started going to AA meetings and knew I would never stop if I kept the meetings up (as nearly EVERYBODY smokes before and after). I saw a bunch of people using PV's and got a cheap on out of curiosity. I figured I'd use it at work and inside, places I couldn't smoke, and continue smoking cigarettes as well. Two weeks in I hadn't smoked a single analog. I bought a pack and lit one up and it tasted disgusting. Not satisfying at all. I threw that pack out a few weeks later with less than five cigarettes missing from it.

I LOVE the vaping experience so much more than smoking analogs! The variety and combinations of setups and juices is endless. I think I'm becoming almost as addicted to the lifestyle as I am to the actual experience of vaping. I'm using an itaste MVP right now with several different clearos (usually my Kanger Pro) and I just ordered my first RBA last night. I'm also thinking about getting into DIY eliquid as there are no vape shops in the area I just moved to and I don't want to have to wait on shipping to try new flavors. Plus that way I can tailor the PG/VG blend to exactly how I like it.

I've found this site incredibly helpful over the past couple months. Finding tips and tutorials and just about everything I needed to know. It was all very confusing and overwhelming at first; ohm's and wattage and mods and cartos and clearos and atomizers and........... It took me a while to get a grasp on everything but I'm glad I took the time. Can't wait to dive deeper into the vaping experience!

A warm welcome from your neighbor to the north in Lubbock! Glad to have you among us, and I enjoyed your story... seems that way for a bunch of us. Keep doing your research and reading, RBAs can be a lot of fun if you like tinkering... just make sure you have some way to check for the shorts/ ohms before you attach to your device (unless the device has an ohm meter on it)

If you're ever up here in Lubbock, we have a vape shop here as well (180 Vapes) off of 19th, over on the east side of town. Pretty decent place from when I checked them out. Their home brew flavors are pretty good, and if you're feeling a bit more of a connoisseur mood, they also now carry Halo brand liquids.

I got into DIY myself, and absolutely love it... but there is certainly a learning curve to it. I'd suggest you read everything in the DIY Liquids forum Stickies, as well as Hoosier's Blogs on DIY... excellent info in there! I routinely vape a 50/50 mix myself that's a DIY RY4... I mastered the "base note" for it and then I add other flavors depending on what I'm in the mood for that day. The current one is an RY4 apple combo... really tasty!

I wish you all the luck in the world with staying clear of the Nails and also with AA. Both can be tough, but with a willingness to succeed and support from family, friends and ECF'ers, completely doable. Stay strong and vape on!

Glad you've found vaping, and I as well discovered PV's in AA. And don't worry about kicking your analog habit just yet, you just need to find that perfect unit that meets your potential to help you overcome the stinkers. And you will! Good luck on vaping and sobriety, they are both really awesome things to have in life.

Thanks! I already have a multimeter and I just got my first RBA in the mail today. It's a little beginner's RBA that came with a prewrapped coil. I did NOT like the vape I was getting from it so I wrapped my own and it's doing great so far! It read about 1.1 ohms. 30 gauge kanthal 2/3 wrap on 2mm silica wick that I folded over a few times. I really like the flavor I'm getting off of it (MUCH better than what I was getting off my clearos) but it's not producing enough vapor or throat hit for my taste so I may try another one later tonight with more wraps. I really want to try a micro coil but I think I should wait until I've got a few successful regular style coils under my belt.

Thanks for the DIY advice! I've read a lot on it already but I'm gonna wait until I have time to really sit down and do a marathon research session on it before I start ordering PG, VG, Nic juice and flavors. I already have a desk all set up in the corner of my room that I'm gonna use for all my RBA and DIY juice endeavors and I'm really excited to get started!

The analog habit is actually already out the window. I still enjoy the smell of cigarettes when I'm around them but I have very little desire to actually light up. Sometimes I miss it a little but every time I've taken a drag since I picked up vaping it has tasted disgusting. Might have a lot to do with the fact that I'd only been smoking again for about a month when I stated vaping. But I knew that if I didn't find an alternative and kept going to meetings I would be back to my two-pack-a-day college self in no time.

Thank you both for your support on my sobriety! It was a really tough decision but I'm doing good with it so far! Three months sober yesterday!

The wait is worth it. I've been to three Dallas shops, they are all 40% higher than online. I discovered NET on the forum: naturally extracted tobacco. I haven't bought a synthetic bottle since. Places like highbrow take a week maximum. My favorites are http://www.heathersheavenlyvapes.com, http://www.goodejuice.com, http://www.highbrow.com, http://www.naturally-extracted-tobacco.com. I started with a knockoff ego-t from azsmokefree.com. bought a handful of egos from china. Finally discovered the vamo v3 from vaporbeast.com. I love it! I also use the kanger t-3, which I rebuild the coils for next to nothing. With a little determination, you can have a fresh coil in 5 minutes. You tube has a hundred how-to videos. GO RANGERS.....

Thanks Taylor, I'll try to go to Spring Vapor soon.

Spring Vapor is my supplier for ejuices and coils. They just moved a couple of months ago and their address now is: 25222 Richards Rd, Spring, TX. Phone: (832) 663-1494. Nik is the owner and Anjia is at the store all the time. You can order custom pg/vg blends if you order through their website but it is not up to date with all of their new flavors. Definitely stop by the store and try all their flavors. They also have a selection of mods, delivery devices, and supplies.

Welcome to ECF and congratulations!

Congrats on the three months! that's a massive step from what I hear! (I'm not much of a drinker, though I do use it a bit in cooking...)

Throat hit is the tricky one, I think the micros might give you a bit more throat hit, and the vapor as well, but there's a learning curve to the drippers, and much of the variables have to do with coil design, air hole size and placement... what kind of dripper did you get? Maybe I can help you a bit to fine tune that little guy for a good bit of punch? (I started with a bulldog RBA (from OKC Vapes) and I ended up boring the air hole a smidge and it changed the game completely. Here's the thread that Supe started about them, and gotta say, its a long read, but he's a fricken genius.

Your wicking material does play a role in it too, and finding the right wick for what you want is a journey.

Stay strong and vape on!

Howdy from a former West Texan. I'm near Austin now, but I was born in Monahans. Glad you're making the transition to vaping so easily. It was the same for me - haven't touched an analog since I got my first PV more than 3 years ago. You're right about the endless variety. How could we ever go back to our one brand? Keep reading and don't be afraid to ask questions - lots and lots of helpful people here. Welcome!

Chiming in from the northeast corner of Fort Worth... Month-long lurker, first time poster!

Props to "Uncle" Bob for introducing me to the wonderful world of vaping, my husband and parents for supporting me, Mid-Cities Vapor for the welcoming atmosphere and the oh-so-patient advice, and again to my husband for eventually following me over!

Now does anyone have a cure for in-law induced insomnia???
