Hello, my name is Josh I'm 34 and just tried my 1st e-cig today. I ordered these last tuesday and they arrived today. V2 ECONOMY KIT - V2 CIGS I got the Sahara's 0.06's. While I'm happy with the quality of the product, The flavor is nasty and chemical. And after I take a few puffs to get it started the 3rd usually burns my lips. Next month I plan on switching to a mod with a tank. But as for now I have nothing else but these Sahara's to get me by. Am I experiencing a bad carto or is this what vaping is going to be like. I realize there are different flavors, e-liquids/blanks etc. But alot of reviews rate V2 as one of the best e-cigs. And I just can't imagine people being happy with the taste I'm getting. In a few days I plan on ordering some blank carto's and some e-liquid from AVE. I'm just hoping that the experience gets better before I dole out money for something like a provari. Any feedback or suggestions welcome as I am a total newb to this kind of vaping. I recently quit smoking _ _ _ and was big into different ways of smoking and trying different flavors. So I thought that this would be right up my ally and I would quit smoking cigarettes, but so far not so good. Oh and not to bash v2 at all but I noticed they did not allow my review and customer service hasn't gotten back to me. Although it hasn't been 24 hours so I might be jumping the gun on that.

Just sounds like you got a dry cartomizer that doesn't have enough juice. When you get juice you can top off the catomizer. Try switching it out for a fresh one and see if it treats you any better. As far as your lips, you can look for 510/808 style drip tips. They pop on to the end of the cartomzers and add some seperation between the carto and your lips. If you can't stand it in the mean time, you can take one of the rubber covers that came over the carto, snip off the end and slip it over the end.

A few things.

First, their batteries are excellent - for the most part. They have been going through some changes. I started with V2, I still use my batteries.

Second, I did not like most of their flavors. After a few weeks, the tastes change as your taste buds recover from being smoked out all the time and flavors you didn't like before will taste good, and vice versa. I found I do not care for most tobacco flavors now, and actually like the V2 menthol, and I did not smoke menthol cigarettes.

Third, reviews won't be posted right away, usually takes a day or two to show up.

Fourth, customer service - is lacking. You will get better customer service on the phone rather than by email, was my experience. When I spoke to them, they did all they could for me when something wasn't right. There were issues with email cs, but I never used it.

Last, they are undergoing some kind of new change, and supposedly will be unveiling the change on April 16 at their website.

Conclusion - don't let one experience or one bad flavor get you down and push you back to tobacco cigarettes. If the batteries are working and it is just the flavor messing with you, check other flavors from other vendors. I jumped over to SI, on the recommendation of a V2 forum person, and have been enjoying better tasting carto's and I also have been collecting their batteries. Ah, so nice to have so many choices beyond white, black, blue or stainless steel/chrome. Good batteries, great flavor carto's. Check other 808 vendors for their carto flavors, too. Eventually, you'll find that "all day" vape that you can't do without. Order some sample packs from V2 and other vendors like SI, and try them all, sweet, smooth, strong, and you may be surprised at what you find yourself liking.

After that the world of blank carto's and e-liquids open up, and there are endless possibilites. We all get a stinker now and again, but for the most part we find what we're looking for.

Smokeless Image also has a nice new big battery APV (advanced personal vaporizer - the replacement term for mods at ECF now), the X2, which will use their new clearomizer and can be interchanged with their cartomizers. Loving it so much, I bought two more for myself and one for a friend, all the while I'm still using the KR808's. I use juice and cartomizers both, and from an assortment of vendors, including SI. I also have 808's from still a third company as backups. They are a bit cheap in quality, but they do backup duty very well.

Please don't give up on the electronic cigarettes because of a flavor fluke. Stay here with us, we'll help you find what you're looking for with a little time. We care.

Ahh thanks for the reply Kia, I don't plan on giving up just been rough. Was wanting to quit smoking badly last week, then my shipping took a lot longer than expected. Then I finally get it and I was so happy but I can hardly use it due to the taste. I will look into SI and I plan on being here for a while! Thanks for the warm welcome. I should probably look at the forum rules to make sure I get the lingo down or don't post links if I'm not suppose too. Was just looking for some answers :)

Whew.

I've become a real advocate for jumping from tobacco cigarettes to vaping if it can help folks. I quit fast with my ecigs, and after making my doctor ecstatically happy, I get a little too deep sometimes.

I'd get another battery if I were you. Reason being, while one is charging you will have the other available to vape. Oh, and if you move to another KR808 model, it's wise to use that brand's charger with their batteries.

And welcome to ECF!

Kia,
I'm ordering a Provari v2 next month. I ordered these before I decided to buy one of those. But I definitely will get another battery (a manual this time) as I don't want to drag a provari with a tank into restaurants, movies and such. I'll prob wait to see if v2 replaces there current one and then order a manual one. And no problem your very welcoming and nice and that's what people need when they join a forum where your trying to better yourself.

Welcome to ECF, you're in the right place. I started with V2 and I'm happy to say it worked great for me. Pricey kits, but really good quality hardware. I also tried the Sahara cartomizers and thought hey tasted like dirty socks (sorry, just didn't like the taste at all). That having been said, I was very happy with the Red and Coffee flavors.

Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on your perspective) while I absolutely attribute coming up on 90 days smoke free (after ~33 years) to V2, I attribute my satisfaction and joy of vaping to the wonderful advice I received here and having moving to better kit. There are many more cost effective and seriously tasty solutions available. As an FYI, the V2 batteries use KR808D-1 cartomizers. There are other places that sell the same form-factor "cartos" with different flavors. Best bet once you've settled in is to look into one of the 510 kits (lot's of folks like the vary reasonable priced kGo or E-Power kits - ~$45)

Best of luck, stick with it.

oooh, just saw you're last post. If you're ready for a Provari, GET IT. I wish I would've before having invested in my "education" by buying a whole bunch of other stuff that just does't compare. They are pricey but they do everything GREAT! Sitting here, vaping Ecto Plasma on mine as I type

If you're planning on getting a Provari, note that they use a different connector called a 510 (510 is the most common). You can get a really cheap 808/510 adapter (~$4) from a lot of vendors. For me, it was really important to make sure I had enough of everything for NO down time (1 hour without and I would've bought a pack of smokes), so you'll hear a lot good advice to have "backups for your back ups".

Was planning on buying a few packs of Boge 510 Cartomizer - 2.0 ohm L/R And a Dremel as well to slot it. I've really been studying up and watching a lot of videos. Mostly pbusardo's I like his video's. But I have no hands on experience and that accounts for a lot. But I figured having more than one thing to use will be nice and different sizes. I'm saving a lot of money by quitting drinking, smoking flowers and smoking analogs. So I'm going for something like a pv v2 right off the bat and hoping for the best!

Not sure how much you've researched, but cartos come in 3 different resistances (LR=1.25-2.0, SR=2.2-3.0 and HV=3.0+) low/standard/high respectively. The V2 cartos are spec'd as SR 2.6-2.8 ohm. Boge cartomizers seem to be a "fan favorite" these days (and for good reason they're pretty good), but I've also used Vape4Life Coolcarts and found them to be really nice. Don't throw away any of the pre filled cartos you've finished because you can clean them and refill them (as long as you didn't run them dry and burn them)

slotting/punching is only for "tanks". I use what's called a DCT V2 everyday (they really are great). Basically it's a tube that fits over your cartomizer to feed juice through the slots/holes continuously. You do need to be careful that you don't over tax those stick batts. Your future Provari will handle anything, but your current V2 batteries are most likely 250mAh (or 380mAh if you got the long ones) and don't last long with anything "LR". Rule of thumb is that anything under 450mAh can't handle the current draw of LR stuff without shortening its life or damaging the battery.

mAh is the amount of energy a battery can store

I have to say, bad taste or not I haven't craved a cigarette today. However I want to get my friends and family to make the switch. And I don't see it happening if they take a drag off of what I have right now. I was suppose to show mine to a few people and let them try it when I got it. But I haven't because I'm afraid that it would only turn them off permanently. I'll have to experiment first I guess and get something I really enjoy to vape 1st before I start my preaching (@^.^)/
