Hello! I have a quick question..

Hi Guys,
I'm pretty new to ecigs, and like many I bought a skycig.

Well, to cut a long story short I did 5 weeks easily before having numerous problems, like the batteries dropping like flies (went through 5 batteries in 5 weeks!), and I've ended up smoking again.

I now want to switch to a better ecig with a longer battery life (the skycig batteries last for 2 minutes when they actually work at all), but my problem is I have a mountain of skycig cartomisers that cost me a small fortune.

What I'd like to know, if any of you would be kind enough to answer, is this: is there another make of ecig with a bigger battery that you can use the skycig cartomisers in?

I'm going to have to switch from the skycig because it's rubbish but don't want to have to throw away the cartomisers.

Hi and welcome to ECF. I can understand your pain. They have 510 type threading, but are not 510 cartos. They aren't as wide as 510's but a 510 carto will fit, just be a touch wider than the battery so any 510 threading PV will accept the Skycig cartos.

I'd seen the riva 1100 recommended elsewhere but I cant work out whether or not I'll be able to use sky cig cartos in it?

You're welcome...cool..."poor" is not cool but that's the fallout from buying vape stuff
The Riva (also known as the Kgo which I own) is an excellent PV and many UK vapers own it. Give me a few minutes and I'll have some info and links.
The Riva fires at 3.7 volts and you will definitely notice a difference. Also the batt is 1100 mah. 100 mah= 1 hr normal vaping before recharge needed.

I started with skycig as well after being duped by the sun offer. After a month of juggling batteries I upgraded to an ego t starter pack, wIth a mix of 600 and 1100 batteries. I use the smaller batteries for being out and about as they are easier to transport in a case and the larger batteries at home. The cartomisers for the skycig fit the thread so you can use them up. I used the atomiser and tank system for a month, but after getting a bit cheesed off with minor leaks have today taken delivery of a mini nova tank which is pretty good. You can then just purchase liquid and fill and go. Cheaper than buying pre filled cartomisers for the skycig.

Realize the eGo fires at 3.3- 3.4 volts as compared to the Riva @ 3.7 volts. The Mini Vivi Nova is a GREAT setup...
The rebuildable Vivi Nova comes with 3 heads (coil+ wick) that can be cheaply and easily replaced. When the head burns out simply unscrew the old head out and screw in new head- takes 10 secs. My heads are lasting about 4 weeks BUT I wash the heads every few days. I've found the Vivi Nova to give the best draw.

I think especially newbies should get themselves a VV battery (or two). eGo Twist and Vision Spinner 650mAh batteries are comparable in size to a 900mAh eGo battery, and they barely even cost more.

My reasoning: Until you find the suitable ato/carto/clearo + juice combination, a fixed voltage device will leave you lacking in performance more often than not. A Twist or a Spinner will work well with ANY compatible steamer, even if you don't know how to calculate the resistances and wattages.

I can't personally recommend the KGO VV, as the one I got wouldn't charge, the button is hard to find, holds the power 1 full second after releasing the button, and the seller is reluctant of sending a replacement. Have been a happy Twist user for 5 months, and now got two Spinners on the way.

On the vaporizer side, the general consensus seems to be towards clearos, although cartomizers and carto tanks still have a wide user base. But the eGo-T is an old product, and I think for example the Vivi Nova Mini easily outperforms eGo-T in all segments, including running costs.

Some vendors already have Twist + Clearo kits. I'd definitely look at those first. It might save you quite bit of money if you plan on keep vaping.

Forgot to add about twists in my first post. If I did it all again I would have gone for that option as it gives more variables for finding the sweet spot for each liquid. Having spent money on the fixed voltage batteries I am going to wait a little while before I can justify shelling out on twist replacements.

I've just ordered a riva 1100 starter kit from vape escape (£34 inc postage), comes with 2 1100 batteries.

I had already begun to refill the skycig cartos with ejuice from the same company because it's so much cheaper than buying pre filled ones, but I bought a load at the beginning - so I'll use those up and use my ejuice too.

Great choice and you're welcome. I forget to mention the Vendor at Vape Escape actually asked vapers what they would want to see in a starter Kit and thus the Kit he sells. It's great because you not only get the cartomizers but also the Clearomizers- the clearos are non rebuildable but can be washed and dry burned- should last a few weeks. Yeah pre filled cartos are an absolute ripoff and really limit the choices available in diff flavors. Remember when you receive your Riva it will be turned off so 3 quick clicks and it's on.

I just had 1 quick question if that's okay - is it safe to charge the batteries via the USB port on my PC or could it damage the PC if the battery had developed a fault?

Also, does anyone know if the Sky Cig wall charger could be used, it's a 5V 0.5A output, I guess it depends on whether the current rating is enough and connections the same.

On some older PCs not a good idea and if you use a usb port try the rear ones as they're more powerful.

In case anyone else is wondering this in future - I've had an answer from Jason and he says that as long as it's a 5v output the sky cig charger should work fine with the Riva 1100.

I got my riva this afternoon and have been tooting away on it, great choice thanks for the advice.

It does kick out a lot more vapour, I've been feeling light headed like when you first start smoking.

It's a GREAT kit you bought and although I've never ordered from Jason at Vape Escape if I were on that side of the pond he'd be getting ALL my business as he's "in tune" with vapers/ customers and seems like a class act. As for the Kit and Vendor all credit goes to Chrissie....an invaluable asset not only to UK vapers but ECF. Just remember to drink lots of water as vaping is extremely dehydrating. Just putting together a Blog titled "Vaping for Dummies Such As Myself".

I am soo in the U.S. and new to vaping but I've had my V2 Cig starter kit for about a month and haven't had any issues with the battery... That would be super irritating if I had to go thru 5 batteries in 5 wks! Thats nuts! Def time for a switch! Best of luck!
