A Quick Down and Dirty breakdown of the mechanics of the e-Cig
e-liquid – the consumable
Battery – the rechargeable
Atomizer – the work horse (that burns out and requires constant replacement or rebuilding)

e-liquid – Also referred to as juice, this is the liquid that your e-cig is vaporizing in order for your body to absorb the nicotine. I refer you to www.vaporrater.com

I am a BIG fan of DIY (do it yourself)

Battery – This is usually the largest component of the e-cig and provides the power to convert the juice into vapor. Available in many sizes providing both increased life (mah) (more puffs per charge) and increased voltage (more vapor per hit).

I have grown accustomed to the 4.2v ECHO Manual Battery for 510/eGo (1300 mAh)
4.2v ECHO Manual Battery for 510/eGo (1300 mAh) (ECHOBATT)
Dragonfly eCigs - Distributor of Joyetech 510-T, eGO-T, 510, eGo, and large variety of MOD
Don’t forget the JOYE eGo Wall Charger
JOYE eGo Wall Charger (includes USB cable)
JOYE eGo Wall Charger (includes USB cable) (JOYEEGOWALLC)

Atomizer – The Atty, as it is commonly called, is where the action happens. This is where your juice goes from liquid to vapor.

I am still researching this, but so far I have been using the:
CE3 Smokymizer - 5pc (2.8-3.1©) (CE3SMOKYZ528)

DIY is for the win!

The Echo is an EGO knockoff battery. It's only 3.7v and probably as low as 3.4volts with an atomizer on it. The nice thing about them is that they have the largest of all EGO batteries at 1300mah (1100mah is the most common largest EGO size).
You should look into Vivi Nova Mini Clearomizers. You'll love them! If you check out my blog that I linked above I will also show you how to rebuild them and save even more money. Rebuilding your atomizers and DIY go hand in hand. I wish you luck on your journey. I hope you have been using Wizard Labs for your eliquid chemical supplies, they are the cheapest supplier on the net.

Ok I tried to edit and correct some information that I was wrong about. It wouldn't let me. Come to figure out 48 hours is all you get to edit and then you have to eat your words on a new post. So here goes! NOMNOMNOM!

The Echo is a KGO clone battery (Ego's are 3.7v devices and vape more at 3.4v). It's a 4.2v device like the KGO. The nice thing about them is that they have the largest of all EGO batteries at 1300mah (1100mah is the most common largest EGO size). Dragonfly ecigs sells them. These stats officially make the ECHO the king of the EGOs and KGOs of the NON variable voltage variety.

I hope I don't bust your bubble. The kit you are using now is simply average. There's nothing wrong with that setup just maybe consider getting some Vivi Nova clearomizers to put on it and abandon the tank system because it is problematic. That is an EGO battery knockoff so it should be a 3.6 volt battery. In reality though a lot of them vape at 3.4 volts when tested on a meter. The only drawback to this is that because battery itself is somewhat underpowered the only way you are going to get a good vape on that is if you use ~1.7ohm atomizers on it. Go lower and it'll burn up and taste bad, go higher and the vaper will be anemic. Because it is not a variable voltage system like the EGO C Twist, it is also not very versatile as far as what you can do to alter how it vapes or what resistance of atomizers you can use to best effect. It is a 510 connection though which is the most versatile connection on the market so there will be many options as far as atomizers/cartomzers/clearomizers that will fit it. Rest assured that there are millions of people with batteries like this so you are not alone. Your kit is literally the measuring stick by which all PVs are measured.
Might be a late reply, but i must add a comment here: When i put my Riva 650 mAh batteries to the multimeter, they are ~4,0volt freshly charged..
When they reach ~3,4volt they cry out for a recharge (got 3 of them)
I admit that the ego c twist is good, if you dont compare it to a VV based on PWM
Go higher than ~4,0volt and the voltage varies due to the sinus-curved signal

Anyway, BethAnn, if I were you, id stick to the rivas for a while.. get some atomizers (clearomizere, cartomizer or the like) with ~1.8-2.4ohm resistance, and you'll see yourself well satisfied
You dont go down in equipment, only upgrade.. keep that in mind ^^
(this is just my opinion on the matter.. i see the topic is ~a week old or so, so you might have figured it all out by now)

The Riva is a better battery than the Ego; it has a higher voltage. The OP does not need to replace her batteries. WHY are we suddenly seeing so much bad advice on this forum that consistently advises people with perfectly good batteries to reject them in favor of the Ego Twist??? If you consistently vape at ~3.7v, as many vapers do, there is absolutely no need for a variable voltage battery.

By the way, ShogaNinja, the ECF forum has had an excellent Guide to Vaping for years and it's always being updated. It's in the stickies. You really did not need to reinvent the wheel.

Agree wholeheartedly. Most times if someone is having probs the reason is not the PV but the delivery system. The Riva is an excellent starter kit IMO. When I first looked into Vaping I sought out and heeded the advice of ECF veterans. My transition to Vaping was painless and a complete success from day one.
I'll never forget one thread where a newb was asking for starter kit advice- all these highly regarded long term members of ECF offered solid advice. Funny but very sad the newb took the advice of another newb who was very aggresive in his advice. The last post of the thread was the newb giving advice admitted he had never vaped and was waiting for his first kit to be delivered.
To me this change is very sad as I rarely see any of those very same knowledgable vets posting here anymore.
