Hi all,

I am new here.

I started vaping a month ago, and my last cigarette was 2 weeks days ago :) This is the longest I've been without a smoke in 20 years. Used to be a pack-a-day smoker.

My initial experience with vaping was bad! I made the mistake of googling for "Ecigarette buy", and the top result was a place called "Ecigaretteschoice.com" that sells the "SS Choice No. 7". I ordered that and some sample cartridges for $65. Later I found out, it's WAY overpriced. And it performed very poorly, not much vapor. To add insult to injury, the damn thing just died after 10 days. (however I may have been at fault, so I didn't bother returning it... see more below)

Then I was at the local 7-11, and they were selling Ecigs! It was called XHALEO2, priced at $20. It was so cheap, I bought it just to see if it's any better than the SS Choice.

It was! It produced lots of vapor! Which was weird because its size was very small, smaller than the SS Choice. $20 is a heck of a deal, because the manufacturer's website (xhaleo2.com) is selling the same package for $30. (1 battery, 1 atomizer, 4 cartridges). Also 7-11 is selling the 10-pack refill for $15, cheaper than the website which sells it for $20.

I been lurking on ECF a bit lately. Seems like the Joy 510 is the most popular model here, so I ordered it from Freedomsmokes.com.... hopefully it will be even better than the xhaleo2 (which i still like, and it's still working, so i can keep that as a backup even if the 510 becomes my main)

Regarding why the SS Choice No.7 broke, it might be because I attached the cartridge to the atomizer in a twisting motion. It just seemed natural to do that, since you attach the battery to the atomizer in a similar way (screwing it on). And the manual for the SS Choice didn't say anything on the subject.

However, when I got the XHALEO2 and read the manual, it said DO NOT TWIST THE CARTRIDGE onto the atomizer, instead attach it with a straight motion. Apparently you can damage the atomizer if you twist the cartridge onto it. So anyways maybe that's what happened to the SS Choice. Still, they should've explained it in the manual. Oh well, the SS Choice sucked anyways, no big loss.

Well enough rambling for my first post :p

Welcome R0dent! Congrats on being cig-free! I think you'll be happy with your 510, and it's very easy to move up to the fatter eGo/Riva batteries if you eventually wanted to because they are 510 compatible. I still use my 510 - it's just a good PV.

Even though you took the long road as far as your first e-cigs, you've stopped smoking and that in itself is awesome.

Ramble on! That's what this place is for. Keep us posted on how you like your 510 :)

Welcome to the ECF, r0dent! Telling your story is good for anyone...especially those of us who went down a similar path a long time ago!! Brings back memories *sigh*. The Joye 510 is a good kit from what I understand. Even though your first pv or two were less that what you needed for sure, it got you going on the right track! We look forward to hearing more about your progress. Good luck on your transition and congratulations on being smoke free! And holler if you have any questions or concerns...there are always knowledgeable people on here willing to help you along! :)

Thanks everybody :) Now I am 18 days without a cigarette (i need to get one of those auto siggys now lol)

@Tara: my favorite flavor is strawberry so far, but I have a bunch more flavors coming from Vaporbomb.com that i will be trying :D

@Dormouse: thanks for the advice. What would happen if I were to put the atty on the 510 crooked (not lined up)? Just less vapor? Or can damage result?

My 510 arrived today! It is indeed a powerhouse, belching large clouds of vapor :vapor: And monster throat hit!

However I noticed that the mouthpiece fits very loosely. Sometimes it comes off the atomizer in my mouth if I grasp it too firmly with my lips! Is this normal?

Also the 510 manual states:
The cartridge is suited for one time use only.
What gives? Does this mean I shouldn't refill it with e-liquid when it runs out? Or should I disregard this bit?

The only time the mouth peice comes off is when I'm dripping. But the cartridge is also empty with no filler when I drip. (if thats the prob grab yorself a drip tip, easy fix). I've noticed it sticks to the atomizer better when it's got the filler and juice loaded up, if it's dry it tends to slide out a bit. I tend to use cartomizers more so I don't know if that's exactly what it is, just a observation from the rare times I have to use a cart. Also, I reuse the cartridges i got with my kit plenty of times. If I change flavors I just rinse out the filler and pop it back in the cart with a pair of tweezers.
