Hello! My introduction and (potential) first setup

Howdy, thanks for having me! I smoke a pack of analogs a day. I plan to switch to full vape as soon as I can. My main motivation is saving money but I love the health and social benefits as well.

About six months ago I had my first vape experience. My roommate bought a vapor4life starter kit that came with a 2 batteries, a passthru (it had to be plugged in to use, did not work as a standalone battery), and 5 blank cartos, and 5 preloaded flavor cartos. My roomate pretty much shared his whole kit with me, and I cut down on analog usage by about 65% immediately. A few weeks later he moved out, and took the vape stuff with him.

Times have gotten hard for me, and the economical benefits of vaping paired with my previous positive experience have made me decide to get my feet wet. I have been lurking on this forum, watching youtube videos, and perusing the different online vendors, and have came up with with the following setup(s):

To get the ball rolling I want to get this kit: Ego "Newbie" Starter Kit
From what I have seen from the various vendors, this is a no nonsense, high value package that just contains the essentials. The passthru option is very important to me, and this kit just seems like an all-around good deal. Also, virtually all of the parts will be compatible with the next setup I want to get, which I will explain further down.

My birthday is in a few short weeks, and when that comes around I want to do an Ego C Twist setup with a tank system. MyVaporStore seems to have a lot of positive feedback and stellar prices, not to mention all the parts I need under one roof, so I plan to do business with them. Here is the rundown of what I plan to get:

1000mah Ego C Twist battery (stainless)
510 Pro DC tank combo (3.5ml tank, 5x cartos, drip tip)
An extra Pro DCTank
A few spare tank cartos(2.0ohms) and a few spare standard cartos (2.4ohms)
a few spare drip tips
cone covers
usb charger

I think I will be getting my juice from Mt. Baker Vapor, I have heard a lot of good things and I am super curious about the ecto cooler flavor.

It may sound like overkill to a relative newb, but I have the type of personality where I have to go all in. I don't like wasting my time on a half-assed product. So what do you think? Am I making any rookie mistakes? Would you do something different? Am I heading somewhat in the right direction?

I like your idea about planning out exactly what you are going to buy and do. Your chances of succeeding just went up greatly. Best of luck quitting.

That sounds like a pretty good first setup. As I have already learned it sucks running out of things that you need like carto's or juice so its good to always buy extra. Im with you on being a 1 pack a day smoker and had my last cig on july 3, And have not even wanted one since I started vaping. If you want to stop smoking and start vaping I wouldnt wait on a new product to be released, it seems you've done your research. I say go with the kit you have test everything out and if you like something buy some extra to have around just incase.

First off, WELCOME!

I started the same way, Ego platform and I still love to use it from time to time these days. Really, everyone will find what works for them. I know friends that never moved from the Ego platform, some that love 3.5 volt big battery mods, and some that cant live without VV, some that love dual coil, some low resistance, some high.. etc.. the bottom line, find what works for YOU! I think you are starting at a great point though.

Another subjective task is finding what liquid YOU like. Reviews arent wrong, its just what THEY taste in it. IE, I found I really like Halo and Backwoods brew for liquids.. some people hate them. I would just recommend buy small ammounts till you find what you like, I still have 100s of ML in various "meh" juices to me..

again, WELCOME!!! lots of great resources and people here!

Welcome to ECF and it looks to me like you're well onto the right choice for your startup.

It can't be said enough, juice taste is all in your mouth, not a reviewers mouth, also a lot of your taste sense is in your nostrils. French inhaling is very productive ;)

I went with small sample packs of things I thought I would like at first and found out a couple things in the process.

Tobacco flavors sucked for me, nothing tastes like burning tobacco. No ecig and no juice is gonna give you that freebasing head rush the first hits on a lit cig will give you. Don't expect it.

Even if I like to eat or drink something I won't necessarily like to vape it cause the taste is different and if I vaped dessert flavors instead of eating sweets, I didn't gain weight ;)

I'm happily vaping away on the stuff I love to vape and now I pretty much know what I will like the taste of from experience, HOWEVER, if you over vape a juice you love you will stop tasting it at some point. Lesson learned: vape several different ones.

YMMV

You can't go wrong with the Twist, that is for sure and i too vape with them and Boge cartos, although i use j-tanks.

U being in florida and all could order some juice bottles from Clouds Of Vapor, they are in the expensive side but they are great, also they sell some of the famous Alien Visions juices so you can try them out too.

Good luck, finding your juice is often difficult but to get to the initial setup (eGo Twist + carto tanks) i went through some bad experiences so kudos.

I couldn't agree more with you.

Looks just fine, that's just how I started. If I could go back in time, though, I would have just gotten a Vtube from the beginning. If you're using multiple Ego batteries, the price difference starts to shrink. I suppose the Ego Twist is out now, and I don't have a great idea of how the electronics compare, but quality VV takes vaping to a new level and for me the Vtube is way more durable and convenient than any Ego setup if nothing else.

Indeed, but there is a huge difference in vaping experience from an eGo and a variable voltage eGo Twist.

Also, if i had to do it all over again i would have bought two Provari V2s and a couple of HH.357s apart from the same carto tanks i've been using, although, the overall experience would have been very close except for the superior voltage precision/consistency and the flashy LED menu.

I have a Silver Bullet and hardly ever use it. Tube mods without voltage regulation are pretty much useless imo.
