Hello all, I'm new to this site as well as to vaping.

I've been smoking since I was oh...12 or so. I'm 28 now. I've tried quitting before (who hasn't?) but failed for many different reasons. Didn't actually feel passionate about quitting, and of course 'well he isn't quitting so why should I?'

Now, I've tried cold turkey...wanted to kill people. Lozenges made my cheeks feel like they were on fire and tasted like crap.

Anyway, I'm ready to try quitting...again.

I smoke roughly 1/2 to 3/4 pack a day, unless I'm up all night, then it's a pack or more (less sleep, more smoke...especially insomnia because its 4 freakin AM and I'm BORED!)

I got a couple 'special deals' to try e-cigs, so I ordered a couple for me and the b/f. He's more concerned not with quitting, just finding an e-cig that tastes enough like tobacco that he can smoke it in places that you can't smoke (rental cars for example) So if anyone knows of any actually GOOD-tasting tobacco flavored (preferably disposable since this is a temp thing) ecigs, it's much appreciated.

Me, on the other hand, I smoke menthol. My analog of choice used to be Newport 100's, but MAN they got expensive. Then I switched to Marlboro Smooths, but they tasted so much like those thin mint girl scout cookies I had to quit smoking those, too. I currently smoke L&M Bold menthol 100's and like them. Stronger than regular L&M menthols, but not as harsh as a Marlboro red.

I'm looking for an e-cig that doesn't taste like they just crushed up a cough drop and put it in my cig. I got a Flavorvapes one, and it seriously has the aftertaste of a Luden's cough drop...exactly.

Until I kick the habit, I don't much care for flavors. None of this cotton candy, pumpkin pie, chocolate coffee mocha chai latte stuff.
Also, I don't particularly care if it looks like a cigarette. I could care less if it's 2 inches long or 12.

I would like something upgradeable, and something that will last me all day (2 batteries if necessary). I've read a bit on this forum and most of the pre-made 'cigalike' kits that I have looked at have like..2-3hrs battery life tops. That doesn't work for me. I don't want to cave and go back to smoking just because my battery died.

I've read about the Ego cigs (Ego twist, etc...) but these look confusing as hell. Buy juice here, put juice here but don't overflow and make sure you clean this that and the other thing, and wash those. Take this thing apart to store it, and clean this other thing, and this comes apart to put this thingie on..BAH!! NTY.

I would just like a (at least semi-simple) ecig with very good battery life (as I said, I can get 2 batteries, but I don't want to have to get 10 just to last all day) with a good menthol taste, that doesn't cost a bajillion dollars, and can later be upgraded if I decide I want to go all interchangeable part crazy, which may not happen for a while...I like my simplicity. Again, I don't really give a crap how much it looks like a real cig.

TYIA for the help :)

Hello Xanadu and welcome to ECF. As far as the cig-alike's go, I'll let someone else who messes with those things give you a recommendation. For yourself though, it sounds as though you'd prefer a pretty low-maintenance kit to start with. I'd recommend many of the 510-based starter kits with two batteries. My personal starter kit has been the Volcano Inerno starter kit, which really is a low maintenance kit, comes with a tank, fill it and go type of kit and I have had great results in giving up the analog smokes. Most eGo-style starter kits would also probably work well for you. All of the kits have a small learning curve, but they are really very small indeed. The reason I suggest the 510-based kits is that many, many options are available to you down the road if you choose to look into other types of delivery systems. My direct experience is with the Volcano Inferno kit and I have found it to be extremely user friendly and can easily vape on it all day long with the two batteries. The 900mah battery lasts me good 8 to 10 hours, depending on whether I'm chain vaping or not and the smaller battery goes about 5 to 6 hours. As for flavor, I'm not a menthol smoker, so I'll leave flavors to those who vape the menthols. Good luck and welcome to the forums once again.

Hi xanadu0324 and welcome to ECF. The most popular PV threading is 510 which means it accepts 510 accessories. In regards to batteries- 100 mah= 1 hr normal vaping before needing recharge
As far as the "easiest" system the PV battery isn't complicated but the delivery device (holds and vaporizes the juice) can be because there are so many different types. Tanks, clearomizers, cartomizers, etc. "Clearomizer/ Tank" types are very easy to use but some say they take away from the flavor and they do also eat up juice quickly.

Start with a cig like product. Something that is as close as possible. Blu or njoy disposable would be a great first option just to see if you like it. You can get them at many gas stations. If you like vaping think about size. You are going to get a ton of recommendations, but it really comes down to you. For a small cig option I recommend the eroll this threadhttp://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/joye-510/397579-joyetech-eroll-user-review.html has some great info and you should check it out.

Thank you all for the warm welcomes (and Hi fellow Tennesseean!)

I ordered a few of the cigalike disposables to try, so far, meh.

FlavorVapes--ok-ish, but very heavy and tastes like a cough drop. Lasts a pretty long time (still using it) and tolerable flavor. Good amount of vapor as well, just wish the flavor was better.

ordered a volcano express kit, and it's defective, so I'm now looking forward to the rigamarole of TRYING to get a replacement. Almost not worth the hassle.

madvapes--havent tried it yet, really. took 1 or 2 hits and it didnt taste very good.

njoy king--waiting for it to arrive

white cloud--this one i think is my fave. I'm actually considering getting a kit from them. I really REALLY like the disposable. It actually had a MUCH stronger TH than I was expecting compared to the others I tried, so it actually made me choke for a minute! (in a good way).

I'm considering Bull Smoke as well, but haven't heard much about them, also, it seems their batteries won't last very long at all.

Also, I noticed that Volcano is an e-cig approved supplier...can someone try loading their webpage? It only seems to load for me when it feels like it, and I get a completely blank unloadable page when I try to bring up the express kit that I ordered, and I cannot find the express kit by doing a search, either.

The only way you're gonna get good battery life is to buy at least 2 X 650 mah batteries. Most of the cig sized are 280 mah maximum. You could also buy a 400 or 600 mah Spinner variable voltage- quite small , easy to use and voltage easily adjusted. With the 510 cig sized there is a 2.2 ohms clearomizer specifically made for them. Just screw the tank on, drip 20 drops into the tank and vape.

Here's a vid on how to fill cartos- first fill is VERY important

Main page loaded fine for me but not the express kit via google- maybe they're no longer selling it?

I heard it had something to do with Chinese New Year...but some of these places are US based, aren't they?!

I've been through Chinese New Years before but it was never this bad. Volcano is UK based I believe but they also have operations all over the world including the U.S. I've also heard Chinese Customs has really tightened up. Maybe to do with recent trade agreements with US, Canada and other countries and the numerous complaints about knockoffs from China. I know they recently stopped a shipment of knockoffs which is prolly a first. I just finished ordering a PV from China and it was in Customs for about 2 weeks. Price wise well worth the wait.
