Not quite sure what to say or do here as I'm just looking for info on a few things. I started using an ecig this pass Friday and thus far I've only smoked 3 real cigarettes (none today). I'm using a Bulldog E-Cig as it was cheap and with a family of 5 money is always scarce.

I wanted to initially use Blucig but the cost is out of my price range for the time being, but I was hoping that with this forum I could find batteries that work with blu cartomizers as they seem to be cheaper in the long run (12 bucks for 5 cartomizers) or find cartomizers that are cheaper or even a tad bit more in cost provided they taste better than the bulldog cartomizers. I am hoping the community here can help me out. :)

Oh you just opened a can of worms LOL Welcome to the ECF first! Welcome to Vapeing! As far as what to say, /shrug, chatter away :0) you won't bug us, we're a chatty lot, even the quiet ones!

There are WAY cheaper ways to do this than Blu or even Bulldog. The problem of course is initial outlay. Your Throw away (and yes it IS a throwaway) battery will not last you very long. BUT hopefully it will last for a little while. AS far as the cartomizers go, you can buy a pack of 5 for around 6 bucks (including shipping if you get a good deal) and fill them with a juice YOU like.

Drop down the library section and start READING and watching video's. If you find ourself getting overwhelmed GO OUTSIDE and clear your head a bit. LOTS and LOTS of info here!!

After intial outlay, I think I spend around 20 bucks a month. THat's for two of us. IN another 6 months that will go down quite a bit, cause I"m averaging in the cost of the mods (BUZZ, Lava, Phiniac's, 3 hogs, Reo, and juices). I make my OWN juice now so that runs about 10 cents give or take a mL. There are a LOT of way's to save money with vapeing, it's just a question of getting there with something you LIKE.

This MAY take awhile and the trial and error can be a PAIN if you find a set up you like, it will SO be worth it!!!

Be Glad you didn't get the blu. The blu is overpriced and doesn't work very well. There batteries only last about an hour, and the cartos burn very easily.

If you want to start off with a mini E-cig, check out the volt from smokeless image. They are almost half the price of the blu. and work 10 times better. There are cartos are nine dollars for five before coupons and there is always at least a 15% off coupon available. They will have a big sale for July 4. Unlike the blu, you can refill their cartos between 20 and 30 times. It is very easy to do and only cost about 30cents to refill them. They have kits that start as low as $20 but I would suggest at least getting the standard starter kit. You need 2 batteries. They will also give you a free battery, bottle of Juice or pack of cartos if you post a picture of yourself with the volt on their forum. The standard kit is $45, but like I said they will have a sale for July 4. It hasn't been posted yet but will probably be at least 20% off.

Here is a video that discusses what you are probably going through and the volt

First off welcome to ECF you will find tons of info and friendly people. Second I can't speak for the bulldog being I have never used one but I have used a blu and the only thing I liked about it was the charging case and the flavors of the liquid.I heard a rumor that a big tobacco company bought blucig, so that turns me off to even their liquids now. I would save alot of hassle and get a decent 3.7v to start with this opens so many options for you with tanks and cartos or atomizers and dripping. Hey we are here to help we were all new here once as well.

Hello and welcome to ECF. You are lucky to have found this forum early on because you will learn a lot about all types of ecigs, juices, tanks, cartos, etc. Hopefully what you will learn will help you make some good choices on a device that you will be happy with. I went from the look a likes to a KGO kit which I still use, but there are tons of ecig kits and batteries available from low to high cost - you will just have to learn as much as you can and make a decision on what might work for you. Keep an eye out for sales as they come up pretty frequently. I am sure once you quit cigarettes for good you will feel healthier and save money in the long run. I wish you all the best in your vaping adventure!

I'm going to suggest you choose one of the following: KGO or an E-Power. They are similar except that the E-Power uses replaceable batteries and the KGO is a built-in battery. I have a KGO and I'm very happy with it.

Do some research to decide what you want. IF you decide on a KGO, here is a shopping list (with links) at Hoosiers so you will know exactly what to buy (my recommendations, but YMMV):

KGO 1100mah kit: KGO kit1100mAh by SLB

Vivi Nova tank: Vision Nova Tank Clearomizer V2

Replacement Heads for Vivi Nova (I'd get 2 of the 1.8ohm if you get the KGO): Vision Nova Replacement Heads

Additional Cartos (get the XL size - whatever color you want): 5 pack of 1.7ohm single coil 510 cartomizer by Smok Tech

Low Resistance Clearomizer (if you can swing the cost, get one just to see if you like it): EGO Vision clearomizers LR 2.1-2.4ohm

Drip Tips (at least 1 or 2): Acrylic Big Belly Drip Tips

With this kit, the only other thing you will need is juice. I've never bought juice from Hoosiers, so can't recommend anything there. There are LOTS of places to buy juice.

If you decide on the E-Power instead of the KGO, you would substitute the following for the KGO kit, but everything else in the order can stay the same. E-Power 14650

You don't HAVE to buy the Vivi Nova tank, replacement heads or the Clearomizer (or even the extra pack of cartomizers) if money is tight. But if you can swing it, buying the items I've linked you to will get you the KGO kit (or E-Power kit) plus 4 different types of juice delivery systems - i.e., atomizer (2 come with the kit), cartomizers (5 come with it and my kit above includes 5 more blank ones), Clearomizer and a Tank. It would be a good starting point to figuring out what you like and what you don't like.

With these recommendations, I'm trying to help you avoid a lot of fretting and hand-wringing over what to buy. The above kit may not be the "perfect" kit (there's not one), or the one you ultimately take to your grave, but it is NOT a waste of money, and it will get you started and serve you well. It will also serve as a great backup kit even if/when you decide to buy something fancier down the line.

Yes lorriard (makers of Newport) bought them. I may be in the minority on here, but I think that could, and I mean could, help are cause. If some of the big tobacco companies get involved then there is big money to fight to make sure nothing happens to e-cigs.

Very nice post pappy. I think that is a perfect setup for someone who doesn't want a mini to start with.

I basically use the same setup except I don't use cartos, I use the Phoenix. I also use the x2 from smokeless image, but that is the same exact thing as a kgo except with 808 threads. Then I use the mini for "on the road"

If people just bought 2 kgo's, a vivi nova and a pack or cartos or Phoenix, they have a great starting point.

I was going to include the X2 as another choice. But I just don't know enough about it to explain the differences. I've read great things about it and the company. Does SI offer the X2 in a starter kit package? If not, they should in order to make it an easier choice for potential buyers.

Hey and welcome. Yes, you can do better than blu for less $. Where in Ohio are you. From what I hear there are some decent vape shops up north (I'm close to Cincinnati, so no vape shops for me).

I'm from Cincinnati, however I've lived out in Brown/Adams county for the past 10 years now. The only places out here that I am aware of our Cut rate Tobacco stores. As my parents live in Cincinnati I was hoping to find places out that way when I visit them but it seems as though online is where I'm going to have to do most of my shopping for now.

Since you're in Ohio there's probably a B & M vape shop within driving distance. If you give us a bit more info as to what part of the state you're in maybe we can make a recommendation. As has been mentioned, forget the Blu for long-term use as there are much better units out there.

Southern part about 70 miles east of Cincinnati.

They don't, but I've heard that they may. I like both. The reason I stay with the x2 instead of the kgo is because I like the mini batteries for my job. There is no such thing as a good 510 mini. SI has the best mini batteries. Using the x2 allows me to have the same delivery systems for both the mini and the 1300

Basically the x2 is a kgo wit 808 threads. They look identical and have the same size options. Both regulated the same too

Just to be clear if I go with the Volt and then chose to use Phoenix I would need the Phoenix 808?

@pappy not sure if I'd want to go with a tank just yet, however could Phoenix be used with kgo and if so would it be a 510 or 808 model? Also does kgo offer a similar product like the Phoenix?

Yes, if you use smokeless image batteries, you get the Phoenix 808

Kgo is 510. The Phoenix is sons in 510 as well
