My vaping adventure stated a little over a year ago. My husband and I got a new car and decided that we were not going to smoke in it. We were then facing a cross country drive to visit family when we realized that 3 days in a car not smoking was not a happy thought.

We bought a couple Aspire K-3's and decided we liked them and they were useful for the trip, but they started leaking BAD and we couldn't carry them in pockets or my purse without it firing. They would even get turned on just by normal movement.

A week ago, we decided to give it another go. My husband bought the smok Q Box and I got the Aspire Breeze. We like the Breeze so much, we bought 2 more! 1 for him and a 2nd for me to have more flavor choice haha!

The biggest issue I have is vaping tends to make me cough. If it has been a few hours since my last hit, I cough. If I change flavors, I cough. First vape of the morning, I cough.

We also find the QBox very confusing.

Welcome to ECF!

Your coughing might me a reaction to juice with higher nicotine than you need. It might also be due to a high PG content.

When I first started vaping, I used 18 mg liquid and sometimes even 24(!) with 50/50 PG. It was too much throat hit, so I switched to max VG juice so I could keep vaping the high nic stuff I needed. VG mutes the flavor a bit, but it's smoother on my throat and the vapor quantity is more satisfying to me.

Hello and Welcome to ECF!

There is a bit of a learning curve on devices such as the qbox, because you are dealing with electronics now instead of a lighter.

Here is a video that may help show you a few things about it and some of how it works

It has temperature control mode (known as tc for short) which supports stainless steel resistance wire, titanium resistance wire, as well as nickel wire.. but, you don't need to deal with all that at first, for now, just concentrate on wattage (or power) mode and either coils that use kanthal wire or stainless steel wire..

For your cough.. many if not most of us do at first.. you have to give your lungs and throat some time to adjust to vaping..if your trying to dual use (smoke cigarettes and vape) it will take longer. If you just power through it it will last anywhere from one day to a week or two.

There may be some things you can do to lessen that such as use a higher level vg in your juice and drink more water.

You can customize the vg and pg levels (as well as nicotine levels) of your e juice at places such as Heathers Heavenly Vapes if you don't have a local vape shop who makes mix to order juices. I would recommend a 80vg/20pg to start.. it will help the best with coughing

Be sure also to keep water on hand and drink plenty of it..

Some halls might help some in the first couple days as well.

Welcome to ECF. It is normal to cough for awhile. Hold vapor in your mouth for a moment and take small easy hits. With a little practice you can learn to let vapor in your throat and exhale thru mouth or nostrils. The coughing will go away in time. About 4 days for me I think. For the Qbox, watch DJLsbvapes vid on yt. Or wait for someone to come along. Smok chips are fairly easy to navigate once you see someone do a walk thru. Kudos for giving vaping another go.

Hi and welcome! Some coughing, particularly the first several weeks off cigs is common. As @Opinionated already pointed out, things like how much nicotine is in your liquid as well the ratio of PG/VG can affect your reaction. I wouldn't worry about it right now, but of course if the cough lasts over two weeks a check in with your doctor is best. After many years of smoking we all have varying amounts of lung issues.

Hi, and welcome to ECF. What a great story and I'm glad you have found setups you like. The other ones become less complicated over time, but if you have a stable vape, that's great.

Coughing during detox is totally normal, with that said, it is possible to be sensitive to too much PG OR VG, and that can cause coughing (as can too much nicotine). If the coughing continues you may want to look at changing your nicotine levels slightly, or varying your PG/VG mix. Slow, gentle inhales can be helpful as well. IIRC, you can't vary the wattage on that mod, so experimenting with different juice or nicotine ratios can be helpful. You can buy small bottles (10 mg even) of different types of ejuice (e.g. more PG, or more VG) as well as different nicotine strengths and experiment to see if any of that makes a difference. With all that said, the coughing may clear up on its own.

Hope things continue to go well, do come back if you have more questions, we're always happy to help out in the New Member's forum. I hope vaping works very, very well for you guys :)
