Hello everyone,

So I am a new vaper I have only been vaping for 2 weeks. I started my vaping journey out with the goal of quitting smoking cigarettes. And I started with the voopoo argus air pod system which was ok. It is a great stealth vaping and back up device in my opinion but it was dieing way to fast for my liking. So I recently upgraded to the geekvape aegis x and I am running the geekvape Zeus sub ohm tank with a .4 coil at 60-65 watts. This range seems to be working out the best for me. I originally started out in the 40-50 watt range but everything that I have read including the coils themselves suggests that you run that with 60-70 watts. So I have been doing so as I do not want to mess anything up. And being new I am not sure how much lower I can go without causing any issues. But it nice to have a community of people to talk about vaping with.

Hello @supermanrs0226 and welcome to ECF.

If you were happy vaping the Zeus tank with the 0.4Ω coil between 40-50 watts - - - why change??? You will not mess anything up at all. Running a 0.4Ω coil between 60-70 watts is a mere suggestion. Toss the GeekVape suggestion out the window and do what works best for you.

General rule of thumb = after you've primed your coil start at low wattage and work your way up to where you feel it's best. If you get the vape you desire at 35w - 40w then that is what works for you. As vaper's we all have different preferences.

I use RBA's and roll my own coils. When vaping with a 0.4Ω coil I'm able to get an excellent vape from 20 watts on up to 30 watts. And with vaping MTL, restricted DL or DL.

Good luck!!!

The reason that I changed from 40-50 watts is that I read online and even on the coil that it was best to use 60-70 watts with a 0.4 coil. So not wanting to mess anything up. I increased my wattage. But thank you for sharing that I would not mess anything up at the 40-50 watts. Knowing that I will definitely be going back down to that range.

As stated above, the coil wattage suggestions are merely that, suggestions. In my opinion, most manufacture suggested ranges are too high, and there are also disadvantages to using higher wattage when unnecessary. This would include but is not all-encompassing, shorter battery life per cycle, burning your coils out faster, warmer/hotter vapes (if you like cooler vapes), more wear and tear on your batteries and mod chip when vaping in sessions, etc.

I vape Geek Vape's 0.2 ohm coils at 55-65W, and 0.4 ohm coils at around 40-50W. Find what works best for you, and go with that.

Cool that you yeah I have gone back to the 40-50watt range. 40 watts seems to be the best for me for sure. So that is were I think I will be staying for a while. Thank you for your help. I am still new to vaping only been doing it for 2 weeks.

Glad you found something you like. Everyone vapes just a little bit differently, so what others suggest to you is likely worth a try, but find what works best for you.
