Hello, hope everyone is doing well. I am new here, glad I found this forum. I have smoked 47 years, it's really catching up with me. I am short of breathe and losing energy. I am in pain galore and health is not good. I have blamed everything but the true culprit, cigarettes (age counts but I can handle that ). I bought a reputable vape, vaporesso gtx one pro, bought reputable eliquids. Checked and verified them all. I am scared to take my first vape puff. I feel like I will get sick, pneumonia, short of breathe and more. I am truly scared ....less. I am scared my lungs are so used to cigarette smoke that vape smoke will shock my lungs. I tried to quit smoking once and my heart literally went into arrhythmia, went to see cardiologist and confirmed. I feel like vape smoke is wet and cigarette smoke is dry. More information. I chain smoke, I smoke full flavor. The cigarettes are some of the reasons I have health issues. I am a Psychologist MD and Holistic doctor, female. Please, no jokes about my being a professional. Sometimes, outside help is the best, it's what I need at the moment.

Well yeah, we all worry to an extent. Vaping causes less harm, not no harm.

I don't know how you plan to vape. Some people take a couple puffs and can put it down for hours, some people take a puff every few minutes.
Puff for puff, a full flavor smoke has about the same nicotine as 6mg juice. If you vape like you are smoking, this is a good place to start.

I use nicotine /cigarette flavor ONLY, bought all strengths in hopes of tapering and quitting.
Has anyone else that is a long term chain smoker, ever had my "fears"?
There are many of us long term ex-smokers that have changed their lives and improved their health by discovering vaping. For a lot of us it was such an easy and pleasant transition compared to other failed alternatives attempted in the past.

I would suggest focusing on the transition and worry about the tapering and quitting later if and when you feel it is necessary. Some of us are never quitters when it comes to vaping.

For me, the health improvements in my life happened amazingly quickly as I detoxed from the several decades of smoking. 17 years of success for me, and it never would have happened without discovering vaping.

I wish you the best of luck and success. Be proud of yourself for giving it a try.

I have hit it a few times. I am going to start using it more often. I understand either do it or not.
How has your experience been with vaping? (if you don't mind me asking)

I've been vaping around 7 or 8 years now, smoked full flavors for 30 years before that. I tried tobacco flavors first, but they didnt work for me. The ghost of a flavor just made me think about a real smoke. I had honestly given up on ever quitting my 2 packs, but someone suggested a juice to me that tasted like mint chewing gum. The flavor change was exactly the shock my routine needed to get past. Now I vape fruity candy flavors mostly, but every now and then I like to mix up a bottle of mint for the nostalgia.
One of the neat things about vaping is you can get into it as much or as little as you want. You can stick to pre- built coils and just change them out as needed, or you can buy a tank that uses coils you make yourself. You can buy all your juice premade, or you can learn to make it yourself. I'm certainly no expert but I've dabbled for fun and to save even more money.

I forgot to say, I love the tobacco taste. I also see that there are lots of flavors, and I understand what you mean by trying other flavors. The thing is that I was already "scared", actually just hesitant, had questions. I was concerned about the diacetyl, vitamin E acetate, and I read that these were usually in the flavored ones, however I live in Europe and the law /regulations make sure that these are not in the eliquids. I am going to give them a try when I buy new eliquids. I verify my eliquids using the qr code verifier. The Netherlands only sells nicotine flavor, but I am going to drive to Luxembourg /France tomorrow to fill up. What is your favorite flavor minus menthol or any mint? I am odd, don't like it.

For an all day vape I really like sour citrus flavors (peach, strawberry lemonade, pineapple, grape, things like that.) But I have to keep at least 2 on hand at all times. I chain vape and even when I'm drinking a lot of water in between puffs I will still go flavorblind if I don't change them occasionally. Its not a huge deal, it basically just means your juice tastes muted and you can taste the vg a lot more, but it can be tiresome and it doesn't go away until you change flavors anyway.
For curling up with a good book I have some clove flavored juice. Pairs really well with tea and puts me in a reflective mood.

Aside from mint flavors that's about all I really like.

I never cared for the pastry/dessert flavors that contained diacetyl so I don't keep up with their news, but I believe all diacetyl was phased out of juice 5 or 6 years ago. If you are still worried about it just avoid anything that sounds "buttery". The only reports I ever heard about juice containing vitamin e acetate weren't about this kind of juice at all. They were referring to cartridge vapes (for using thc, not nicotine) and shamelessly lumped our juice into it just to help cast fears and doubts on vaping.
