Hi PinTheTail,
I'd like to offer you my experience when I began vaping 3-4 years ago. There are some things NOT mentioned here that should be addressed or made aware of when transitioning from analogs that I was never aware of.
The transition can be quite pleasant but may also test your body. What I mean is, my first 6 months of the transition vaping period used to give me a slight sore throat from time to time. Now I can't confirm this was due to me starting on a higher nicotine % than others but it's very common. You're training your lungs to endure the vape vs. analog smoke. Just thought you should be aware of this as you may experience down the road and worry if this is normal. My sister has also experienced this.
Something else I read that also may influence this is analogs naturally irritate your throat, mixing with vapor this can enhance this transition, so I recommend cold turkey quitting the analogs and strictly sticking to vape. I transitioned immediately! I also consumed more and more juice as this transition period and found myself vaping all day long, especially because I could vape inside my home, instead of stepping outside every time I wanted an analog. Also very normal.
I smoked roughly 15-20 cigarettes a day. An easy nicotine mg content I found was 18-24mg (24mg being on the higher side). At one point I found myself actually increasing my nicotine content when using certain ecig combinations because the drags required more work, especially from ecig cartridges. Once I learned of Tanks/Carto's is when I dropped to a consistent 18-20mg nicotine content as the drags were more open and didn't require as much effort. All of this helped with my cold turkey from analog to vaping transition.
Personally I highly recommend a "Vision Spinner" 510 as your first ecig. This will allow you to control your voltage offering you a warmer or cooler vape while you transition. This will be your best bang for your buck, and will even work great once you become more experienced with vaping.
Juice Recommendations:
I recommend the STANDARD 70/30 mix on juice. Flavors will vary pending what you prefer.
Mt. Baker Vapor or commonly known as "MBV" is HANDS DOWN the best juice producer in the market I have ever experienced, and let it be known I've experienced with MOST ecig manufacturing companies, and currently own abount 12-15 different styles of everything you can think of including my current fetish for mods and non-mechanicals, RDA's, etc. I do lots of customizations and am an avid dripper atm.
MBV's prices are unbeatable. They will definitely provide you with a large amount of QUALITY JUICE for HALF THE PRICE of most juice manufacturer's out there. No joke!
They don't offer a standard 70/30 like other juice makers, but their 80/20 or 65/35 is spot on par. These ratio's will keep your tank cartomizer's in healthier shape and won't endure "gunking" or dry hits, which taste nasty! Carto's on average should last roughly 1-2 weeks pending on vaping. Currently and I vape all day long they last me 2 weeks or so before needing replacement.
Alcohol Consumption:
If you're a drinker, and are worried about craving analogs while consuming alcohol products, best experience for me was to stick to the flavor closest to what you smoked when you smoked analogs (Regular or Menthols) and increase your nicotine mg. Personally I smoked Menthols, full flavors when I smoked analogs. So I stuck to a Menthol juice, and vaped 24mg nicotine. Nicotine in your juice has a bit of a "pepper" taste to it. This mixes well with beer well. With the increased Nicotine (which increases throat hits) it REALLY provided me with enough umph to not crave an analog at all! I actually tried to smoke an analog one night while fishing/drinking and it was totally gross. I immediately went right back to vaping and truly enjoyed the experience. Don't be shy when purchasing juice. Make sure you keep your standard for when your drinking, and your fruity flavors for your ADV (All day vape). Unless you prefer standard analog flavor as your ADV (whatever suites you). Keep in mind 1 thing, and that is ecig juice actually ages like a fine wine. The longer it sits, doesn't always mean it expires or goes bad. It actually allows the nicotine in your juice to solidify more with your flavors and actually enhances them!
If you have any other questions please feel free to ask. I hope this information answers many questions you will have regarding juices, etc. I know you asked for best bang in your start ecig, but It would have been only a matter of time before you returned with questions regarding juice and their mixtures. Sadly I didn't have this answered for me early on, so hopefully this helps ya out.
