Hey Guys....NCC here. It has been awhile since I have posted here (major life changes and other stuff that would bore you to death).

I was hoping that y'all would be able to help an old dude out.

I have fallen so far behind in my "vaping Education", that SO much new technology has passed me by. I am STILL using an iTaste SVD as my main PV, but have recently had the opportunity to "test" a TC VP that I really liked and have ordered one. Currently, I make my own juice like this: 12mg nic, 5 mg water, 15mg VG, for a Nic% of 18mg. From my understanding, using a TC PV, this "combination" would produce way too much Nic concentration for sub ohm vaping. I have "heard" that between 3%-6% is what I should shoot for to get the throat hit that I crave. What do you guys think?

Also, is there a reference chart anywhere that I can use to learn good combinations of Temp/Watt and ohm resistance? I am not ashamed to admit it, although I am an OLD Vaper, all this new TC and sub ohm stuff is new to me and kinda confusing me.

Thanks for reading and if you have any advice, I greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,
NCC

If your sub ohming your are going to want to drop that nic to like 6mg instead of 18mg. I have a 0.15 ohm nickel coil head in my morph tank. I run it at about 50 watts and 500 degrees Fahrenheit. This set up gives me plenty of vapor and flavor. I mean clouds of vapor. At 18mg it would be a intense nic rush and probably a safety hazard if I chain vaped it. I tried 12 mg once in my tugboat rda and I broke out in a sweat, felt like it got really hot in my room, the nic rush was hardcore. I'll probably never do that again lol.

1: for a ballpark figure, try:
mg = 100/watts
so
20mg for 5 watts
10mg for 10 watts
5mg for 20 watts.

but since you already diy your own mix, you will soon be able to adjust to taste anyway.

Sub ohm is a null issue on a regulated mod.

All that stuff people tell you about
12mg being too much on a sub ohm coil is misplaced logic that only applies to mechanical mods.

A mechanical mod regulates power output based on the coil resistance. A 1.5ohm coil will use about 12 watts of power. A sub ohm coil of .3 ohm in a mechanical mod will be closer to 60watts. A .1 ohm will be about 180 watts.

on a regulated mod it will be the same as a non sub ohm coil. I could wrap 2 coils, 1 at .5, and one at 1.5. As long as I keep my wattage set the same for both on the mod, there will be no distinguishable difference in the vape.

So if you plan on vaping 20 or 30 watts your 12mg will be fine, regardless how low your coil goes. If you are wanting to vape at 70watts+, then you might want to look at lowering nicotine %.

In the end your body will tell you if your getting too much nicotine... numb lips, lightheaded, stomach queezies.

Aspire triton is only really capable of 30 watts realistically with the nickel build the way it's designed. Any more than that and the temp controll will be kicking on constantly.

If memory serves, your old itaste maxed out at 15 watts. If you set your new mod to 15 watts the vape will be similar even with a .3 ohm coil. It will have a much shorter ramp time and be more clean/even/predictable because it has much more advanced electronics. Anything over 30 watts would probably be wasted, as the board would auto throttle the voltage down to keep the coil from overheating.

To use your new mod at high watts you would need a different tank, or prefferably a dripper. There are very few tanks that can handle over 50 watts.

Now don't get all sad that you won't be billowing 160 watt clouds with your new atty, high wattage capable chips are nice even for vaping at lower settings because they are capable of heating faster and can handle a larger range of builds. You can get a pretty dang solid vape out of a temp control mod and 20-30 watts of power.

WOW!! This thing is a BEAST!!!!!! First, I followed the suggestions above, made a batch of 6mg nic juice, when the batteries were almost completely charged, I filled the Triton tank with it. I left the default 0.4ohm atty in. Put it on 30W and took a toke.....not bad...went up to 35w....getting better...went to 40w, nice warm mini cloud.....opened up the bottom vent slightly and took a BIG toke and BAM!!!! Couldn't see the wall in front of me..... :D Nice, warm and GREAT throat hit...so great, my next batch will be 3mg Nic.. :D Thanks for the advice guys...looking forward to getting deeper into this.. My next step is learning as much as I can, then I would like to try an RBA. :)

Are you a mouth to lung or direct lung vaper?

If you really want to blow clouds, there is the Smok TFV4 that is ridiculously good with the quad and triple coils, but you need to use it above 80W. That means that you definitely need to lower the nic to 3mg or below or you get blown away.

Apart from this tank - that has great flavor and clouds - the current star is the Uwell crown. It has 1 TC coils and 2 "regular" coils included and has one of the best top fill mechanisms and machining is wonderful.

The IPV3 LI is a great mod and would work perfectly with the Smok TFV4.

If I could turn back the time a month, I would not spend a few hundret $ again with my current knowledge but just go for these 2 tanks and the IPV4s + IPV3Li.

Currently I have used/tested all Kanger Subtanks, UD Zephyrus and Goliath V2, Aspire Triton, Freemax starre pro, Uwell crown, Smok TFV4

PS: To be up to date: There is the DNA200 coming that is all over the place. It seems to be a great TC and non-TC chip that works with either LiPos or also as a dual 18650 mod with 133 Watts.
