Hey Thrasher (or whomever manages the F@H for ECF) I was remembering something i use to use to show staistics for my old teams F@H information, and i finally googled it up and found it. I thought this may be helpfull for ECF if someone wanted to set it up and point it at the ECF team.

FCI - Folding@Home Client Info

Here is a example so you can see a demo of it in action and see if it interests you. If no one is able/willing to set this up i can possibly do so myself, however the freeBSD host i would use is not the most reliable in uptime.

I'm slowly climbing the ladder... lol

I'm starting to think that PPD does not = Worker Score... mine never matches for completing WU's.

I'm slowly sinking like a rock. Pretty soon I'll be joining the 200 ranks. :( If we get a few more folders that is.

Oh well, I'll be getting bonus points soon so maybe that will slow my sinking.

So I joined the team a few days ago. I've got a few WUs in for us. Wondering how to optimize my configuration to do better/faster/moar?

I haven't been folding for long (just recently completed my PC build last month). I'm still kind of confused as to whether I should be on one of the GPU optimized betas or if the V7 client is providing us with the best performance possible. The information on the betas isn't terribly up-to-date, which makes me think betasGPUclients might have been abandoned?

If any of you experienced folders could offer me some insight into tuning the f@h client to be most optimized with my build I would greatly appreciate it. (My setup is an Intel i5-3750K at stock speeds, looking real pretty with a Radeon HD 7950, also at stock. I am equipped to to over clock either to reasonable levels.) Any succinct sort of s'plainin' would be appreciated, as would links to recent f@h noob guides that can really lay it out for me.

The setup that the installer uses optimizes it directly for the system it is being installed to. I would not change any settings at all and just let the client handle it. I personally like going through command line myself.

on linux this would be

sudo /etc/init.d/FAHClient start
sudo /etc/init.d/FAHClient stop
To watch the progress use:
sudo /etc/init.d/FAHClient log
CTRL + C to stop the log

on windows run "cmd" (command prompt) cd navigate to the directory F@H is installed to
simply just type FAHClient.exe to run it
Use CTRL + C to stop it

This is not saying that FAHControl does not work well, i just find it to be more informative as a WU ticks by and i can also spot potential errors and warnings faster through a terminal.

I also would stick with whatever client the download page recommends. In some instances it may navigate you to getting the beta build in other cases it will jut give you the stable build. I believe it all r eally depends on the OS version and maybe your current specs you are on that the download page decodes from to give you the client it chooses. Like one of my linux boxes and a Win XP machine both got the standard download but my second XP box was navigated to a beta.

Is the -smp for windows or can it be used on Macs?

Also is -smp a client option or a core option?

It can be used for all console clients pre v7 I believe. If you're using the GUI v7 client then it should be on by default (if you used default install options).

Lbox what video card are you using?
