Don't forget to fill out the form for your ECF title!! Yay! Congrats! Finally, right?!? :D

And don't forget to add your passkey, Terry.

Thumbs up for hanging in there until the WU was completed.

Thanks for the reminders. I totally forgot both. :facepalm:

I'm sure glad I got a small one this time. I won't be chalking up many points but at least I'll feel like I'm doing something. :p

Here's the link I think you have to enter into that form:

tmcase's contributions to Folding@home

When the team's stats are updating, you get the page where you need to enter the team number. It goes away after it has updated.

Thanks Sash. I guess it was updating when I tried it.

So my SCORE is lower than the CREDITS I got so if I understand correctly SCORE is for me and CREDITS is for the team?

I don't know. They have always been the same for me.

I do know that the faster you get the wu done, the more points/credit you will get for it.

This version FAH is the first version, I've ever known what a wu is worth before I finish it.

I got jipped! :(

Oh well, at least it finished. :)

Whoo Hoo! My 2 wk monster WU finally finished. Final credit estimate, 3494.00 points. It had me worried there for awhile. It sat at 99.99% complete for a long time and the ETA said 1 min, 55 seconds for about 30 minutes. I was sure it was stuck. :( But it finished and started a new one. A smaller one. It should be done in 3 days. Whew!

Now I'm going to shutdown, blowout my tower, install a new driver and do some PC maintenance. BBL

Congrats =)

I think it's only after 10 WUs completed .....but I know I was gypped too....my largest WU was scheduled for 1763 but credit was 43XX - when it was done I received the 1763 :( idk why - but it's ok...have to keep searching for myself further and further down the list .....but it's for a good cause. :)

What I don't understand is where they got the number that gave me. It wasn't mentioned anywhere in the client. I guess their credit est is a bit off.

In the description of the WU the credit is listed - I don't remember if you have to be in advanced mode to see the description - I think you do. It's never the same as the estimated credit.

In my huge WU that just complete it said 13xx credits (I think) in the description and 3494 est credits up above in the window. But I got 2015. :confused: It didn't mention 2015 anywhere.

Folding@home - FAQ-Points

F@H Site said:
How do you decide how much credit a work unit is worth?

General scheme (relevant for all types of clients)

Points are determined by the performance of a each contributor's folding hardware (CPU, GPU, etc.) relative to a reference benchmark machine. Before sending out any work units from a new Project #, we benchmark one or or more work units from that Project on a dedicated machine. We plug the results of this benchmark test into the following formula:
Points = PPD * (DaysPerWU)
where DaysPerWU is the number of days it took to complete the work unit.
We summarize the details of the machine and the PPD below. Please note the very concept of a reference machine will mean that some WU performance will vary from the performance on your machine. Even between various Xeon processors, there are significant differences in architectures. Moreover, there are variations between WUs within a given project which can lead to speed differences.

So Credit is the absolute best value they've come up with using a dedicated machine to crunch the data on their own. They use this then as a gauge and if you do it in less time you get full credit and if you do it in longer time you get less is how I understand it. Sometimes their credit calculations are not based on the same architecture your running and may speed through a WU while you slowly crank on it. Also this is on a dedicated, 24/7 machine, which means if you pause the calculations at anytime your losing credit let alone if your machine isn't as fast as their's they benchmarked it on. Just keep cranking and you'll average out and some you'll get more credits (bonus) and others you'll get less but in the end it's all good :)

Cheers,
~Icky

Distributed computing is a wonderful thing for these types of applications. I've installed the app and am more than happy to dedicate my unused processor cycles for this cause.

It would be nice if they created a 64-bit version and a native Windows 8 app. I'm guessing they'll be working on that if Win8 actually gets a good market share.

Well, DH found out I was running it on his laptop. And MUCH to my surprise, doesn't mind. If we can update the virus protection on the desktop, he says it is even faster, but he won't run it without the update and he can't remember who he is. He is in there now working on it. So, I may be able to offer even more help when/if he gets that one up. :D
