Just checking back in to see how things were coming along for you Terry. Lots of great suggestions, but I think the best one is to fall back to version 6.

I'll have to try that on my XP laptop myself, it's also a uni-processor. I stopped using it a couple of weeks ago, and now it refuses to pick up a new WU. It just keeps cycling thru attempts. I have it powered down right now, but I think the log said "work server empty" or something similar. My Win7 Pro desktop is still chugging along :)

Thanks Bovinia. Things are chugging along now without that control program running. But I miss that program. It has so much more info in it than the DOS box. I decided to start the control program to see what was going on and then ended it via task manager. The DOS log said "server connection ended" but the core program is still running. I'm waiting now to see if my wu increases another % when the step it's working on finishes. If it does then maybe I don't need to downgrade to V6. I can just start the control program when I want more info or want to change a config or Preference which I can't do without the control program and then end it via task manager when I'm done. Thoughts?

I think that should work Terry but don't know for sure.

Since this problem just started with this wu I'm running now, I'm wondering if I'll have this problem with the next work unit. It will be interesting to see. I have V6 as a backup if this problem persists.

The core program is still running and has increased 1% since terminating the control program via task manger. :)

My 5.0.3 uni-processor can't find any WUs either. I wonder if there are any servers with uni-processor WUs. My Win 7 laptop is down because I am on a vacation (new Granddaughter). I'll soon be chugging along again, as best I can anyway!

My question is, if you terminated the server connection, what does the program do with the WU when it's finished? I'm curious to find out if the program knows to re-connect to the server for the download/upload process, or whether that function is handled by the Fah control app.

The way I think it works is that the FAH client sees the FAH control as a server connection, at least this is how it is in Ubuntu. The client is what's doing all of the work while the control is more of an easy way to change settings and view progress. If it says the connection was terminated that should just mean that the control program isn't watching the client. The client should still be connected to the internet though.
