Whoever has received the most points for overall work units completed are #1 on the team, etc etc. Different work units award different points, as well as how fast they're completed. The ultimate goal is to just keep working - letting your pc keep running FAH. There's no prize other than self fulfillment and feeling like you're making a difference to find cures for potential/existing diseases/conditions/etc.

going to have to upgrade my CPU cooling fan to liquid b4 i can unleash all 8 cores. it's a energy hog. HOT stuff.
yeah my fan over here keeps kicking on and off. So thinking about a system back in the spare bedroom.
Yes. FAH will run your cpu hotter than any real world application unless you specifically configure it to run less than optimized.
this is my only computer currently. all my spares were given out to people my age, who are positively terrified of computers. i'm running in light mode right now. watch movies, music, and surf all at the same time. still 16 gigs of ram and the i7 chip make it an obnoxiously over powered unit for my needs. shame it doesn't like my video card though. would like to fold with both at the same time

I was trying to decide what would be an appropriate response to this. It's not normal, but it's also not appropriate to talk about on a public forum. In short, I feel I'm near mental exhaustion. Either way, I'll be fine and things will work out. Just a long bumpy road and the bumps are huge right now.
I just joined and dedicated a dual core machine to it. If this one can't handle the stress, I'll dedicate 2 cores on my server. I can't believe it took me 8 months to find this!

I run all day everyday on an i5 6g ram laptop I had a secondary fan running for a while but they weren't playing nice together. Every time I touched the computer with the fan under it it shocked me so its out and I'm cycling between light and medium for cool down until I can figure something out. I lost a 1tb hdd a couple days ago with the fan on.

Ok, so since I really dig this whole thing, I went ahead and installed on my server TOO! Letting it run at 100% and its handling it like a breeze!! I even got my first WU done before I wrote this and halfway through its second WU.
Question: Are we to focus our efforts on Cancer entirely or should we just select ALL?
If one of the areas has a personal appeal to you, go ahead and choose it. Points iz points!
Just be aware that if you choose a particular area and that one doesn't have a work unit available when your client calls for it you will be sent one from another area to keep your client folding.

The Control program will start the client program. If they are both running at the same time the control program may take some CPU away from the client so you can stop the control program via task manager and let the client run by itself. You can start the control program at any time to view any info or make config changes.
