Hi guys and girls. I am new to the forum, but have been vaping for around 6 months or so.
I had a innokin cool fire 2 that broke down. So i thought i would try my luck with the innokin cool fire1. Also got an extension for it to accomendate 18650 batteries. i wanted the more vape time out of it...
I have a problem though, when inserting a 18650 batt in the e-cig, i can press the button 3 times to activate it, but when trying to vape, the e-cig turns off after 1-2 seconds, and wont turn on again, until i re seat the battery... but the same happens again..
I wondered why that is ? and i tried a new battery. Now i have 3. but none of them work...
It works fine if i out in 2x 18350 batteries. but id like it to work with the 18650's

The batteries i have tried are
2x Ultrafire 18650 3.7 3600 mah (protected)
1x noname 18650 3.7v 22mah (no idea if protected)
The Clearomizer is a iclear 30s with a 2.1ohm coil...

Any ideas ?

Your problem may be with using protected batteries. I'm not familiar with the cool fire I know it's variable wattage.?or voltage. Many mods that aren't mechs already have protection built in, so you may want to check that out. Check if the noname batt is the same height as the others. I know it's a cheap way to check bit may help you know if it's protected

The 2 batteries seems to be 'almost' the same size. there is a little difference in length (about 0.5mm)

The e-cig i have have this on the 'info' on the manufacturer's site

Supports 18350 batteries - maximum current output is more than 5000mA.

Rated power of 8.5W, which is perfectly suitable for 2.1 ohm iClear dual coil clearomizers.

Reverse Battery Protection Circuit.

Built in 7A fuse for protection and stability.

Short Circuit Protection.

-Built in 7A fuse for protection and stability // Does this mean i only can use non protected batteries ?

One of my friends also spoke about sub-ohm batteries that can explode if i use them in my e-cig. Now i am a bit 'scared' to go buy a new battery cause i dont know if i can see if a battery is sub-ohm.... Any help or info on that matter ?

Hi Tom and welcome aboard!

For info on batteries Baditude has several excellent blog posts on the subject. His blogs on battery safety are a must read before you venture into the world of sub-ohm vaping.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/for...ected-icr.html

Reliable sources for batteries:
Batteries-Chargers-Flashlights-Only The Best
Authentic AW Batteries - RTD Vapor
Illumn.com - Flashlights, Batteries, Carry Gear, Intelligent LED Lighting, and More!

Do not buy batteries from eBay or Amazon. Some of their third party sellers sell fakes.

... and finally, here's a link that explains things in pretty simple terms: Vaping Battery Safety & Ohms Law Illustrated and explained in very simple terms

Hope that helps and Happy, Safe Vaping!

Tom, welcome. Not so much with sub-ohmming or not, but it's the concept of the replaceable batteries. Generally, most regulated mods should use UN-protected batteries (at least in the regulated mods, some protection is built-in as you'd mentioned in the specs.)

rsunderl has offered some great links for your review. I'm relatively "new" to the replaceable battery scene. So many folks on this forum have steered me away from batteries with the word "fire" in it (Trustfire, Ultrafire, etc.) Same with battery chargers. I read the articles posted by Baditude over and over, and I still am careful with what I purchase and how I use them.

The protected batteries are a little longer due to the built-in circuitry that comes with the battery. I tend toward the Purple Efest (but be careful - even though they have a rating, that's more of a pulse rating, and not continuous discharge so I consider my safety net no more than half the "rated" value.) Samsung-R25, AWR, authentic Sony VTC3/4/5s are all viewed highly here in the forums.

Hope this helps :)

Tom, if you need the 18350's

Im not really looking for 18350's as i have 4 of them already, but it just is so annoying to change batteries all the time if i am not at home, thats why i want the 18650's
The only problem with RTDvapor is it seems to be limited to only shipping in the states.

How high amp output will you guys recommend for batteries in my case ?
