Hey guys, I took the plunge and bought my first e-cig the other day from Tesco. It's a Nicolite rechargeable type. It came with a medium and high strength cartomizer, and I've been using the 'high' version for the past 2 days, and enjoying it so far. Does anyone know how long the battery will usually last? and how long it takes to fully recharge?

After doing a little reading on here, it seems that Nicolite brand isn't all that great, and I'd rather get the most out of my money, so could any kind soul who also lives in the UK point me in the direction of something thats got some good reviews and is of a similar ilk.

Cheers!

Hi Stu and welcome.

I started in a similar way but used the Sky-cig bought from a corner shop :) and have since moved on in the short time I`ve been vaping, how-ever I passed the Sky-cigs onto my mother and they are still going strong 2 months later with regular care and charging, although the carto`s have been replaced as you can only boil and refill them so may times before they start to taste funky :?:

I have no experience of the Nicolites but found a link that you might find useful.

Stick around ECF... you will find an answer to most questions, and some answers that will raise your own questions as well! :D

Thanks for the advice guys!

If I could just ask a few more things?

Sounds silly, but how do I know when the cartomizer needs replacing? will no vapour come out to signal this?
And typically, how long should I charge it via the usb to ensure I get the most out of it? After 3 days of moderate use I noticed it started to flash today, so I've just plugged it in now.

I'll be sure to check out those links, Vault. Thanks again for the help.

Happy to be replacing my cigs!

Hello & welcome Stu :)

You should be able to refill your cartomisers with e-liquid several times before they wimp out. As soon as the vapour drops off, they need refilling.

As for recharging, (you must be using your Nicolite very sparingly for it to last 3 days) the batteries don't have any memory, so no need to wait for it to lose all charge or to be fully charged before using it.

You would do far better & find it cheaper to get a different kit - preferably something like a Riva 1100 -

The VE Riva 1100 Deluxe Kit £34.95 - Deluxe Vaping Kits - Riva 1100 Kit Electronic Cigarettes | Vaping Devices | Accessories | E-Liquid

Here is a list of other good UK vendors, plus discount codes -

Welcome Stu_

Sadly, lots of the review sites in the UK are bogus non-independent sites that make money from persuading people that inferior cheap tat is the best thing ever. Also, the internet is jam packed full of lies about what certain products can do.

The only real answer is to ask on forums, which is what you're doing, so Hooray! be Happy. :)

There is an overwhelming amount of choice, but I think a plain/standard EGO or RIVA battery kit is the best entry place.

Somewhere between £30-40 is plenty. It won't surprise you to learn there a lots of retailers that will happily take £69, or £79 for the same kit.

Chrissie knows what's what. I also keep a very close eye on things as I was taken for a long and expensive ride by one of the so-called "top" brands in the UK. If you google me (djsvapour) and ask google to ignore DJ Vapour (who I am NOT :)) you'll find plenty no doubt.

Good luck.

Thanks to everyone again for replying. The order on Sky Cigs was £10, it comes with battery / atomizer, 3 carts, usb and ac chargers, so I think I'll keep it alongside the Nicolite one I got. I've been reading up and it seems I will be able to re full each cartomizer with e liquid too.

I'll give these a go for a bit (really loving the Nicolite, dispute the reviews) and maybe get one of the ones mentioned by dj's.

Thanks again for everything, I'm loving my experience so far!

Nice one Stu! :)

These little e-cigs are not that popular amongst hobby-ist vapers, but I have a few and t.b.h. my complaint has never been with the batteries particularly, but more the refills. Sky cig and Nicolites use standard thread refills (as far as I know) so very little lost buying them. The trick is not to get sucked into the repeat purchases that these makes are looking for from their customers.
One of the so-called "best" UK e-cigs charges a price that make skycig and nicolites look cheap in comparison. Refills currently trade (wholesale) at next to nothing (pence rather than pounds) and it makes me incandescent with rage that vulnerable and low-income people are handing over SO much money thinking "well, it's better and cheaper than cigarettes", which it IS, sure, but users are still being ripped off.

I wrote to 2 of the top UK supermarkets asking them to rethink their brand loyalty......neither replied. I try....that's all I can do. :)
