Help! I can't get cake to taste like cake!

I've had Lemon Poundcake from TV, Strawberry Shortcake from Mrs.T, and a few other places' flavored cakes, and they really taste like cake with that flavor. What's the trick? High percentage? Low percentage? Steep longer than 5 days? Additives?

Here are the ones I've tried:
Cap Vanilla Cupcake (had to steep this one awhile to let the alcohol evaporate)
Cap Cake Batter
FW Cake - Yellow (this one tastes burnt past 3.6V on my Spinners/EVODs, so not much vapor)

I've tried Str8's strawberry cake recipe, I've tried different percentages with strawberry/strawberries & cream + cake (50/50, 40/60, 30/70, 20/80 + sweetener), I've tried adding a little marshmallow (yuck, didn't like this), EM, different creams, but just can't seem to get that caky yumminess. All I get is some sweet but generic, non-descript flavor. What else can I try?

I want CAKE!

TFA Vanilla Cupcake is perfect.... IMHO

Adding some vanilla to CAP's Vanilla Cupcake really helps get it to the cupcake-place (TFA's Vanilla Swirl I like quite a bit as well as FA's Classic Vanilla). I've tried adding FA Custard, but it's very lemony and kills the cake. I've tried adding FA Vienna Cream, but that doesn't work either. Marshmallow doesn't work. I'm wondering if we need a smidge of butter in there?
But gads!! that CAP Cake Batter I ordered recently is the foulest thing I have ever smelled/vaped (perhaps worse than FA's Cookie). I was so sad. I wish I could salvage it because I want some serious cakiness too, but I think I'm going to have to toss it. And now to continue the search for the ultimate DIY cake vape...

I have found that to get a true cake flavor, I have to add sweetner,,,,,,,,it just doesn't taste right without it.

Cake is one of those weird flavors thats hard to nail.

When I tended bar a few years back we had a chocolate cake shot that was amazing both for its taste and the unlikely ingredients used. Listing it here in case it helps.

3/4 oz Frangelico (hazelnut flavored liqueur)
3/4 oz vodka (no taste)

1 lemon wedge rolled in sugar

Drop the shot and bite the lemon.

Tastes just like the chocolate cakes your mom used to make.

A true cake flavor has been elusive to me as well. I want white birthday cake and It's been so frustrating! I didn't like the cake batter flavoring, and the yellow cake from flavor west might have been ok if it wasn't for the underlying cinnamon taste to it. I'm anxiously waiting on vaping zone to get their gourmet cake flavor back in stock, hopefully it will be the missing key!

I find the VZ SC Gourmet Cake flavor to have a lemony taste to it...the VZ SC Gourmet Vanilla Sponge Cake is closer...YMMV

Thanks for the info, when its back in stock I'm gonna try the sponge cake flavor. That is if its ever back in stock....I've been checking for months now.

TFA Vanilla Swirl 7-10% ( I go 7 some like more) 1 drop per ml Whipped Cream (Only if you want the sweet icing) and the main thing you are missing 1 drop per 5ml of Acetyl Pyrazine!
