Help me choose a Cartomizer

I'm relatively new to the vape scene and all the info out there has my head swimming sometimes. I want to make the right decisions when I decide to upgrade from my lousy e-cig kit, to a kit that's more reliable.


1) What benefit does a double coil cartomizer provide as opposed to a single coil? Does juice type make a difference as to the type of cartomizer one should use? My juice preferences lean toward a sweet/fruity vape the vast majority of the time.

2) I'm going to be buying an ego/riva style unit. What kind of cartomizer would best suit my needs?

My favorite carto on an ego or riva batt was the smoktech 1.7 single coil carto (also known as the resurrector) I use bakery type juices and they work fine. these cartos also work well in a tank, they are long enough to use in the "DC" tanks ( one and a half inch tanks) I do like and use dual coil cartos but not on an ego or riva, they're better at higher voltages.

crystalclearvaping is a good place to buy these cartos.

I really enjoyed my ego batts. while many here will tell you to skip the ego steps and go right on up to a vv device (if you keep vaping, chances are you'll buy one before it's over) to save money I'm glad that I got the egos as my next step up the vaping ladder. When I was new, someone suggested I go right to the big boy toys but I didn't know enough of what I was doing. I do have the big boy toys now but I'm glad the ego was there along the way.

I personally would go straight to a vv device, but as they say hindsight is 20/20.

As a learning tool, the EGO/Riva devices can be quite satisfactory. You dont need a kit, just the batts., some cartos/atty and some sample juices. And as donnah said, use the 1.7 smoketechs/resurrector or the 2.0 Boges, as dual coils won't really work satisfactorily on the EGO/Riva 3.4v devices. Save those for the higher voltages.

Checkout some YOU TUBE reviews, they can help in your quest for info. Don't worry, the "noise" and "static" begins to clear once you get some experience.

* The advantage is that it can give you more TH and vapor. Although, unless your using a DCC at 5V then it's really not going to be performing to good. Since there are two 3 ohm coils being used to make the 1.5 ohms. If your thinking about getting a 2.4 ohm DCC then they are better at 6V. With 3.7V then it's a sub-par vape.

Another thing to remember is if you plan on using this on an Ego type batt then you risk killing it since the switch is only 2 amps. Anything that pulls more power then that can damage it eventually. For example, a 1.5 ohm atty/carto at 3.7V = 2.3 amps.

Also, it burns a whole lot faster then a single coiled carto. Overall, the advantages of a DCC is immensely overwhelmed by it's disadvantages.

* With all cartomizers. It's best to avoid high VG juices since that will clog up the filler material and cause wicking problems. Dark and sweet juices will leave sediment in the filler material that can also contribute to it being clogged. These lead to a decrease in it's lifespan and also, the speed in which it can become burnt.

You can definitely use all of the ones that I have mentioned above in your cartomizer. Just have to remember the problems that come with it. Also, if your planning on using a carto tank. Then I would suggest punching two holes into your carto or making the slot a bit bigger to allow better juice flow. This can help with wicking issues. Also, let it rest more often so that the juice can seep throughout the filler material.

2) I'm going to be buying an ego/riva style unit. What kind of cartomizer would best suit my needs?

Boge LR 2 ohm cartos would be good or you can get the Ego Mega 2 ohm single coiled carto. Which is basically a super sized Boge carto:

It'll be the second one from the last on the page. They work great and utilize the best out of the 3.4V (ego) and 3.7V (Riva) that your gonna be using it on.

If you upgrade to an eGo style get a Kgo from KGO 1100 mAh 2 battery kit...

If you do bare bones and just get a couple of batteries you still need a charger... Ends up almost as much as a kit plus you get an attomiser or cartos and the cone to give it the full "ego"cigar look if you like...

Cartos have there fan boys and girls whether Smoketek(dual coil/single coil), Boge, or Kanger... I like Boges in a tank myself cheap place in packs of 5 https://www.nitelitevapor.us/shop/start and some nice juices as well...

Boge 2.0 ohm Lr cartos are extremely popular. Personally I find that the vapor is too hot to get a truly good vape out of them. And they tend to eat juice like no other. I'm unsure how well they work on genuine joye egos that are regulated to 3.3ish volts though.

I like to use dual coil cartos on non joye egos. My smoktech 900mah egos run at 4.2v on a full charge. Great, warm (not hot like lr) vapor. Decent throat hit. And typically no dry burn issues. Dual coils really do shine at higher voltages though.

Boge 2.0 ohm single coil is the way 2 go...I just recently converted from the DC smoktec's ...2 months I stuck with them before trying the boge's...the boge's have allot more flavor and TH. The one I have in my tank now has been going for over 2 weeks, the ST would be flooded by now. Well I'm done venting Good Luck!!
