Hey friends,

I'm going on a 5 day trip to Mexico (Playa Del Carmen) for a friend's wedding in about a week. Will be my first time in Mexico.

I'm thinking about buying a new kit for this trip, something I won't feel bad about losing, breaking, etc, but that will have a minimum amount of .....ing around involved.

Currently, my 'home only' vape is an evic, usually with a kanger protank on it.
My 'out and about' vape is an ego battery with an evod, and a spare battery in pocket.

I don't think I want to bring either set up, and I don't think I want to deal with bringing liquid and refilling, air pressure changes on tanks, plastic ziplock baggies in the scanner, etc.

I'm considering prefilled cartos, which are a more or less guarantee to work (but I'm sensitive to PG, any recommendations for prefilled VG cartos?) and am not stoked on being stuck with a 1ml capacity. I've had bad luck with all 'mega' cartos i've tried before, but haven't tried syringe filling them yet so maybe that will help. Also not expecting to do much charging during the day so need either a high capacity solution or a pile of batteries...at which point I may be up to the price range of buying a new mod and considering it a bonus if I still have it when I get home.

Flying from SFO to Cancun.

Typically vape 3ml - 4ml per day. 5 day trip.

Any votes on these options, or other suggestions:

battery possibilities:
-2 ego 650 batteries. not sure i'd be able to charge more than 2 at a time overnight in the hotel.
-something with cig size batteries and a pcc or two.

juice delivery possibilities:
-20 or so prefilled cartos (if i can find them in all vg somewhere?)
-5 single coil ego mega carts, syringe fill at home before leaving and hope for the best
-20 or so disposable all in ones (have no experience with these, don't know what would be decent)

any other ideas? trying to decide soon so there's time to order and ship before i get on the plane.

Personally, I would go ahead and bring the egos and evods. Make sure the evods are empty before travelling, and bring a mega cart (and a spare) for carrying on the plane with you. My husband and I went to Puerto Vallarta last November, and that's what we did. The clearos that had juice in them DID leak quite a bit, but they were in ziplock bags in our luggage, so it wasn't a biggie. We rinsed them off and refilled them at the hotel. Refilling your evod at the hotel shouldn't be any bigger problem than it is at home, and that way you can still have your favorite juice. I gather that some of the pre-filled cartos are remarkably bad, and don't last very long either. One of the biggest surprises for me travelling to Mexico with e-cigarettes, was how much more aware of them the people who work in the resort areas are than people at home. We actually had a bartender turn to us and say, "Hey, is that an ego? Can I see it?" Turns out a lot of travelers show up with e-cigs!

An uzi or ak47, they're more intimidating. Maybe some flash bangs. Light weight bullet proof vest. A rambo first blood survivor knife and a small fire arm. Then maybe a couple 1300 spinners and some EVODs and a ego carry case. Don't forget ammo.

Mike on Craigslist has some great concealed weapons
E-mails from an .......

Seriously though, be safe. Mexico is crazy right now. Stay on the resort...

My experience tells me fear of the TSA is a bit overblown. IMHO, TSA does not care one whit about ecig devices.
My last three round trip flights:
San Francisco to NYC Oct. 2012
San Francisco to Washington, DC Jan 2013
San Francisco To Missoula, MT March 2013
On all the flights, my carry on contained four 1300mah Spinners, four filled or partially filled mini vivi novas, a charger and multiple 30ml bottles of juice, along with other electronic devices. I leave the juice inside the carry on as a matter of principle.
Obviously the bag was scanned repeatedly. To date, TSA has never once looked inside the bag.

I'll be flying from DFW to Canada in a couple weeks and this will be my first time flying with vaping gear. Most of my gear will be in my checked bag, but I'd like to keep one or two CE4 clearomizers in my carry on.

I've read that the pressure can cause the clearomizers to leak. Have you had any leaking problems, or would I be okay as long as they're not completely full?

Last time I travelled with vaping gear, I brough cartos on the plane with me and they were fine. The clearos in my bag all leaked quite a bit though. Fortunately, they were in a plastic bag, so it wasn't a big problem. I really recommend picking up a couple of cartos for carrying on the plane, and make sure your clearos are in a plastic bag and/or empty. I've heard people tell of having pretty much a whole clearo leak out into their shirt pocket when the cabin pressure changed.

The only leaking problems I've ever encountered were from containers inside CHECKED bags. Not one drop ever of any kind in bottles or clearos carried on the plane.

That makes sense and is what I would have thought. Maybe all the people that posted about leaking in their shirt pockets and carry ons got stuck on a plane that didn't adjust the pressure properly. I have a lot of ear problems on planes and really appreciate it when the pressure changes are done right.

as the original poster i'll share what i ended up doing, and edit my original post.

i bought six single coil, 'mega' cartomizers (smoktech brand i think, 1.7 ohm single coil, same diameter as an ego battery / advertised to hold 3.5 ml.) I filled them all with a syringe before i left, which was far more effective than ones i tried filling in the past by dripping.

i brought 3 15 ml bottles to top off with. and 2 650 mah ego batteries.

summary:

-brought 2 650 mah ego batteries, in carry on bag, no problems
-brought 6 smoktech single coil 1.7 ohm ego mega cartomizers, filled prior to departure, also in carry on bag, no problems
-brought 3 15 ml bottles of liquid, in a zip lock through security, no problems

i had no problems with power by charging batteries in rotation in the evening. i had no problems with fiddling or leaking, going with a large capacity cartomizer made things easy. vapor production isn't as great as an evod but the lack of fiddling made up for all that.

other notes:

I had the strongest desire for a real cigarette in my 4 months of being a non-smoker while i was there. mostly the stress of being out of the country, having limited command of the language, and having to deal with things like the hotel double charging me and not much i could do about it til i got home.

i had more security/customs problems with my non-ecig related things than with. The Mexican equivalent of the TSA was more vigilant (when exiting mexico to board the plane home to the US) than the united states TSA is. They confiscated a very nice pair of stainless steel, left-handed hair trimming scissors even though the blades are under 3". They also took a half empty jar of pomade because the container was 3.45 oz instead of 3.4. Had no problems with U.S. security entering with the same items.
