Bad - that looks like a killer 705 in that carto tank on the zmax ! Have 5. Liking them. You?
Not my pic. Borrowed from Google Images.

I haven't tried the Killer or like atomizers. Still too pricey for my wallet and limited fixed income. But I've read a lot of positive comments about them.

Thanks Donnah and Bad! I suppose for now, I'm good with what I have. The question will be whether or not I want to get into lower resistance coils and building them. I may still want to go with a mech mod with a kick for a more compact look. From what I understand and correct me if I'm wrong, but with a mech mod, I can get a 18650 battery pretty much to be the same size as the Zmax telescoping V5 with a 18350 battery in it due to the lack of circuitry. I would think that they would be a little smaller in diameter as well, but not sure about that. That alone may sway me to still go with a mech mod with a kick.

The Kick was designed to be used in 18650 metal tube mods. To use a Kick in one, you will need to drop down a battery size to an 18490/18500 IMR high drain battery to make room for the Kick. You can also use an 18500 mod but will need to drop down to the 18350 size. A Kick won't fit in an 18350-only mechanical mod

"USE IMR BATTERIES ONLY. The Kick was designed to be used with IMR batteries only. The Kick is designed to be used only as specified in these instructions. The Kick is designed to be used in 18650 metal tube mods with an IMR 18490 or 18500 battery. Several device manufacturers are considering building extensions or longer tubes to permit the Kick to be used with the larger 18650 IMR batteries. The Kick may also be used with 18500 metal tube mods with an IMR 18350 battery.Using the Kick module in any configuration other than as outlined above will VOID THE WARRANTY and will be at your own risk."

Bad - I will definitely use IMR batteries although I didn't realize that you would have to go a battery size lower. So I either need to get a mech mod that accepts 18500 size batteries so I can use my 18350 with a kick or buy a 18500 IMR battery to use with a 18650 tube. Thanks again!

Yes.

18650 mod will need to use an 18490/18500 IMR battery with the Kick.

An 18500 mod will need to use an 18350 IMR battery with the Kick.

Stosh - I went with the IGO-L. They built a 1.8ohm coil with a 28 kanthal and cotton. Now I don't want to screw it up but I put a few drops of juice in and have let it sit. How long should I wait before adding more and vaping? Is it ok to put juice on the coil itself or should I make a conscious effort to avoid it? Do I need to keep the cotton lubed with juice even if I'm not using it? Is it possible to replace the cotton without putting a new coil in?

I soak the cotton and make sure to drop some on the coil.
I'm vaping less than 30 seconds after I drip on fresh cotton.
Yes you can change cotton without changing the coil.
I change cotton every few days or when I make a radical flavor change.

I love dripping.
Unmatched flavor.

Stosh - That's what I'm leaning towards as the cause. I took a pic of it this morning but it's blurry. I can post a pic of it tonight.

One of the things I noticed that after filling up juice with the top cap off and firing the power button, I wasn't hardly getting any cloud coming off of it. I will be trying to change out the cotton tonight and replace it with one that's a little smaller. I've also been watching a number of videos on building coils and I may just go ahead and start trying to build them. I need to invest in an ohm meter first though unless I just use my zmax to read off the resistance.

Great, thanks Stosh! Is there a "typical" graph that kind of outlines the number of wraps and gauge size wire to ohms? For example, 10 wraps of 28 gauge Kanthal wire typically comes out to X.X ohms, while 8 wraps comes out to Y.Y ohms. I just want to make sure that I won't be going under 1.5 ohms which is the threshold of the zmax. If I do go under, will it tell me the resistance, but just not fire?

I'm not sure of the zmax, don't have one, but it should register if the build is safe, 1.5Ω - 2.0Ω
8-10 wraps sound about right, I use 30 ga kanthral and 8 wraps work for me, 28 ga will need more wraps or a larger diameter toothpick to wrap on.... The diameter will make a big difference along with the number of wraps. Try one and see where it falls, and adjust from there....:)

Thanks again! That's the kind of information I was looking for as a bit of a guideline. I figured I would wrap it around a 1/16" drill bit. I'll start with 10 wraps and see what it reads out and go from there. At this rate, I'll be getting into mech mods and sub ohm in no time considering a couple days ago I didn't want to build my own coils. After watching a few videos, it seems like they're relatively straightforward with a bit of practice.
