Help: My EVOD/Protank rebuild does not work on some Ego batteries. What is the default wire used in

the factory made kangertech EVOD/Protank heads?

I have been rebuilding kangertech EVOD/Protank heads using 30 or 32 gauge Kanthal. I am not sure about the gauge of the wire because it was given to me. But the gauge should be 30 and above. I've built it using 2 mm wick with 6 coils and achieved 2.1 - 2.2 ohms using a paper clip poked into the center of the 2mm wick.

Those rebuilt heads works fine on my Janty and VAMO but it does not fire on 2 of my joyetech ego batteries. The light does not comes on when pressing on the button and after unscrewing the head from the batteries, they will blink continuously and the light goes off. The 2 batteries are still working fine. What does the non firing and blinking light means? Is that dangerous or the safety circuit cuts off the power automatically?

If I were to use a brand new 1.8 ohm kangertech head (factory build) on these 2 batteries. They do working properly.

So my question is whether what type and gauge of wires are kangertech using on the stock factory heads so that I can buy some to rebuild the coils and make it work on the 2 Ego batteries. Are they using kanthal, nickel or nichrome with 32 gauge? I am trying to get the right wires to avoid any danger.

Also does the 30 gauge kanthal causes the heads not to work on my 2 ego batteries? Do I need 32 gauge kanthal for it to work properly?

Finally can I use the Kanthal A1 with 32 gauge?

My guess would be either 30 or 32 gauge Kanthal would work fine.

Make sure you have an ohm reader to check your resistance before you put it on your battery and fire it. That's the only way to determine if you have a short.

I've used the vamo and a multimeter to test out and it read 2.1 ohm

so nothing should be wrong with it because the vamo and janty battery can fire it up easily.

so kanthal and nickel works the same?

Kanthal and Nickel have different characteristics and are not the same. Personally, I've only used Kanthal.

Perhaps your eGo batteries' center pins are not making a physical connection with the atomizer at the 510 center pin. The center pin may have been pushed into the battery sligthly, a relatively common occurance. Try teasing the center pin of the Ego's up a little with a mini screwdriver or metal nail file.

piece of coil wire sticking out from the coil in the atty? Either 30 or 32 ga wire will work for rebuilding those heads. The center pin on a protank head sticks down farther than an evod head does. Maybe you have a protank head in an evod and it is pushing the pin down too far and causing a short in the battery? These are single coil protank/evod heads I am speaking of.

actually these 2 batteries are brand new. it works properly with all factory built heads but not those i rebuild with my kanthal wires. but those rebuilds work with my other ego batteries.

If you used 30 0r 32 ga Kanthal or nichrome and it measured over 1.5 ohms and less than 3ohms it should work on an Ego battery. The wire is not your problem.

the rebuild heads work with my other batteries but not the 2 ego batteries. the factory heads all works with the 2 particular batteries which could not fire off rebuild heads. I guess it must be something to do with the wires. that is why i would like to know which type of wire does the default head contains?

I give up.

I have been rebuilding evod, T3 and protank heads for a while. I use 30 and 32 ga Kanthal and they work like champs.

but anyway you cannot make a coil like the factory they use non resistance welded on "legs".
Only the part around the coil is resistance wire.

No.

Nickel wire can only be used if you are going to put the tank/dripper on a temperature control mod.
