Hey guys,

So here's the skinny. My bf is a APV demon. As in, I swear he does some black magic and every set up he uses dies...

He's a welder by trade so he works in some nasty conditions. Sparks, molten slag, potential drops of 10 feet or more, etc. Don't ask how many EVOD batteries he killed before I got him a LVT.

Now that he's got a reliable battery, I need to find him a tank that he likes, but can't be killed. The big thing is not only is he rough on them, he's picky.

So far:
  • He liked EVODs. They're kinda idiot proof. But they're low capacity and he's managed to kill 3.
  • He doesn't like T3S's. Better capacity, but kill prone. All that un-reinforced plastic...
  • Aspire Vivi Nova S... There's a fun one. He loved it with BDC coils, but those have gone the way of the dodo bird. He hates the BVC coils, they're duds or they leak. He's wasted more juice than he vaped recently.
  • He likes his RSST, but can't take it to work. Not job site friendly, and he has no idea how to fix it if it malfunctions. That's my job.

Does anybody have an idea of a good tank for him? Something idiot proof, indestructible, preferably bottom coil? Good airflow preferred, he gets irritated when the draw is really restricted. Single coil or double not an issue for him, although I would rather he have a single as he burns through less juice a week.

Thanks in advance!

The problem with the BVC coils may be due in part to the tank, not the coils. I was going to recommend a Beyond Vape Silo. It's a well protected glass tank. It works absolutely fantastic with BVC coils, and has a nice, wide draw that's adjustable. I use it with my Provari P3.

The Silo is a variant of the Nautlius, and in my opinion, an improvement. It's very good, and worth a shot. They're only 35 bucks from the Beyond Vape website.

If you wanted to take durability to the next level, definitely look into a Kayfun (clone or authentic) because with the steel tank on there, you could probably run over it with a car and it would likely keep vaping. Don't quote me on that though. I'm of the minority that really has a hard time getting a good build on my Kayfun and I sold mine not too long ago. Airflow might be a con for the Kayfun though, it doesn't have the most open draw out there.

The Silo is good. You might also consider a mini nautilus and see if you can pick up a steel tank for it. I'm not sure if steel tanks for the mini nautilus exist though.

Good luck

A little spendy here, but maybe a Protank 2 with a steel sleeve tank replacement? Or an Aerotank with the steel replacement (comes with I believe so no additional cost). The PT2 would be single coil I believe and pretty cheap coils at that, the Aerotank would be dual though and more expensive coils. Just throwing spaghetti at the wall here :) I'm not sure of any that are really tough and rugged without spending at least 20$ or more though, but I'm not sure if price is an issue here.

Kanger MiniAerotank. Load it with the stainless tank sleeve. The ego threads are going to be stronger on the LVT's connection than a 510, though the overall length and mass of the LVT might kill the connection on it's end.

My personal bomb-proof setup has been the MiniAero with an EVOD 750mah battery (stainless to match). I would have no qualms about chucking it as hard and as high as I can across a parking lot.

If the MiniAero isnt enough juice volume for him, then I'd say jump to a mechmod and either an all metal RTA like the Kayfun or Russian, or the Kanger Aerotank Mega with stainless sleeve. But there the weak point will still be the 510 connection.

If he's a welder, you might be able to set him up with a mech mod and metal RTA/Kanger Mega, and have him fabricate some form of tube metal over sleeve, held in place with o-rings. That would give the 510 connection support, and IMO create a nearly indestructable PV.

I like the Kanger EMOW Mega, it is glass with a metal outer case holds about 2.8ml.

As for the BVC their is a lot of problems with stock coils not just the BVC. The beauty of the kanger coils are that they are easily re-built so they are better than the stock bought coils. I rebuild all my coils vertical for my EMOW Mega and it rocks on my istick.

Stop by REOVILLE.
We have a Reonaut in the making here!!
Try an REO Grand, with an RM2, with the bottle and battery inside the machined body, he can put a rubber band around the door so he does not accidently lose it if he drops it. If/when money permits you can pick up a spare RM2 in case the wick breaks while he is at work and he will be back to squinking immediately.
The only non bottom feeders out there just have not tried it yet.
To save money you can get the blemished ones from the site, especially since he is a welder and will be abusing them. It is the full flavor of Dripping with out the hassle of having to refill all the time. Puff, Puff, Squink, Puff, Puff, Squink.

I vote for the Nautilus full size or mini w/steel replacement tank - If he destroys that then maybe he should try dipping. smiley-laughing013.gif

So pretty much, the common votes are SS Nautilus, SS Aerotank, or SS upgraded Protank 2.

I'm not real sure on the EMOW, it reminds me of the EVODs a lot, and somehow he would make those start leaking from the little windows. Does the glass go all the way around the unit or does it fill in the gaps? Also, is this unit double coil?

Not really worried about the 510 vs EGO connection. His Vivi is 510 and he hasn't broken that yet. He puts the beauty ring on that came with the LVT, puts the tank on to finger snug, then cranks the beauty ring to meet the tank. Not bomb proof, but he has dropped it off a second story roof to no noticeable damage.

I've never used a Nautilus, what's the difference usage wise between that and an Aerotank or Protank? I know the PT2 is single coil while the other two are dual. They have similar capacities if I'm not mistaken. Other than that I'm not real sure.

Discovered a Kanger AeroTank Mega today at the B&M.
I delivered some hot sauce to a guy that works there as I had promised him.
I was trying to sample Mothers Milk and the guy standing next to me let me use his Mega with my drip tip.
He says with the steel tank installed it is all but blast proof on his mod, and to look at the mod and the tank, his has been there and back again.
Purchased some extra 1.5 ohm replacement wicks with it as well. Hard to suggest something, that I myself did not want as well. have been using it all afternoon and kicking booty with it. I did have them over drill the adjustable vent hole on it to lock it in to place so it is harder to adjust, because it seemed too easy to change while vaping.

|The EMOW is glass all the way with a metal "jacket" over it. It takes the new enclosed dual coils (which can be re-built despite what some say). I have not had any leaks or gurgles or dry hits with it but as I say I re-build my coils vertical and I think this is better than any stock bought coils.

The main reason I like it as well is because of the size it is 19mm wide which sits perfect on my iStick (see my avatar) I think depending on battery you are using will influence what tank to get as some just look dam stupid and ugly on some batteries.

Not being a fangrl, but as soon as the OP said "rough environment", I thought REO should be mentioned. Very bullet proof and even if he broke something you can buy a rebuild kit. REO GrAND would be good size for him, batt last all workday.

Really, look into it.

Thinking REO Grand with an RM $ or 4?

eGoinMD, I have a FBC, good little EVOD type. I do love the cap too. Unfortunately, he has issues with keeping track of things, that cap would be gone in a day.

Rondo9, not the Nautilus. We haven't had one of those. The Aspire Vivi Nova S. They use the other BVC/BDC coils. As for wattage, his LVT goes to 15w, but he typically has it around 7ish.

Racehorse/ lucky_x16, we might go Reo in the future, but as of now, it's not feasible. We're on a strict budget, so I can wiggle in a $20-30 tank once a month, but a Reo, even blemished is a bit high. Also, I drip, but I know him and I'd be replacing totally scorched wicks everyday. (He doesn't quite get the concept of dripping every so many hits. Plus he's forgetful.) I've got him to the point that he can refill his own bcc's, but he'll still vape a gone-dead coil until he gets home and asks me "does this taste burnt to you?" even though he has replacements in the vape case he keeps in his lunch box.

Thanks everybody for the helps. I know the internet doesn't have voice tone or emotion, so I hope I'm not coming off as "nothing's good enough." I'm trying to find him the best possible option that's available to us so he'll like it and stay off the ciggies. Also, I want him to use it for more than a week!
