MarkSkylark, all I know is that some flavours don't work well with plastics. Unfortunately I don't know which ones, that's why I always choose atomisers with glass over plastic.
I think your choosing a Non-tobacco/Non-Menthol flavor for your friends is a wise choice...
Cigarette smokers only have two choices...Tobacco or Menthol...and few (if any) smoke for the "taste"...
After 50+ years of smoking...I filled my first tank with Fruity COPYRIGHTDMCA...switch flavors constantly...and have never chosen a Tobacco/Menthol flavor...
So what kind of flavors don't work with plastic? I've heard of darker juices, coffee, chocolate, whiskey, even some tobacco flavors causing coils to burn out/dry hit (oxidize?) faster, but never heard of any problems (reacting?) with plastic.
There are some flavors which can destroy plastic tanks. Discover which flavors are known to cause this, watch a video of a tank melting using one of these flavors, and see a picture dictionary of safe products to use if you enjoy using these flavors.
Basically cinnamon (especially the red hot variety) and many of the citrus flavors produce a chemical reaction with polycarbonate plastic (clear plastic) which can cause the plastic to crack or melt. Frosted or opaque plastic usually indicates the plastic is made from polypropylene and is completely resistant to breaking down with volatile flavors.
