This is utter B.S. First of all, in the last year I have been in or near Halifax 3-4 times and never seen another e-cig user or found a vape shop despite numerous efforts... is it that they already have an undisclosed ban on opening vape shops?

What do they mean by "not displaying" electronic cigarette products? Does it mean you'd walk into a vape shop and only see closed cupboard doors unless you ask to see what they have?

I can agree that never smokers would be reluctant to have people vaping next to them in restaurants and stores and banning vaping in certain places makes sense in that regard. Keeping vaping in check with comparable smoking restrictions also makes sense in that regard, but no flavors? When did they ban all the extra known (carcinogen) chemicals in death sticks???? How would that keep us from putting in the flavor ourselves?

Up to the last time I was in downton Halifax, there were more smokers outside of bars than downtown Montreal without even checking the population ratio... BT seems to have too much influence out there.

I don't have a twitter account and stay away from social medias, but I did fill in the poll.

Yes, Just like tobacco

I treat vaping with etiquette, The ban applies at the retail sales level. The way the legislation is written the only flavor allowed will be Menthol. I don't see how they could stop us from making our own juice. Hmm, someone will steal this idea, A bottle of glycerin/PG and an array of flavor concentrates, Drip, Shake, Vape.

i just ordered my first concentrated nic eliquid from the u.s., if it goes through i place another order asap that way when they change the rules in ontario i'll be diy'ing my own ejuice.
imho i dont think we can stop the govt idiots from proposing legislation against vaping, they are not going to listen to us unless its big pharma doing the talking and since pharma companies dont have a vested interest in vapers i highly doubt dr's will stand behind us

Good luck with the nic liquid. From what I hear it's usually stopped by Canadian customs.

petition signed.

If you need any evidence that these people have no idea what they're talking about, all you have to do is take a look at the fact that they consider "tobacco" and "menthol" to be distinct flavors, and that they think these are the only flavors adults like.

I foresee menthol being added to many juices in the future.

"You can't sell that flavor"
"But, it's Boba's Bounty, with Menthol!"
"Oh, okay then, carry on."

Actually, I got clarification today. Only unflavored juice (VG/PG) will be allowed in Nova Scotia. Not even tobacco and menthol flavors. Technically nicotine is not allowed by Health Canada either.

Here is what I put in the comment of the petition (as good as I can remember since I clicked before copying the text):

Electronic cigarettes helped me quit smoking. Flavoring is what helped me reduce my nicotine content. Without flavor, is it likely that people would not be able to reduce nicotine intake.

In this day and age, we need to move on to help people quit smoking and electronic cigarettes have a proven success rate well over 50%, while other means have a success rate well below 50%. So far there are no proven side effects to electronic cigarettes, while almost every other means have multiple known bad side effects.

Here is a link to the NS Gov info page on the legislation. Click the links on the page, you can see what little research they cite.

That's crazy. I will post to my fb and twitter, not that I have any kind of following, but I'll try to get the word out to who I can, I do have some gaming friends in the North.

Organize the Nova Scotians, we'll organize the Mainers. We'll form a power block and take New Brunswick from both sides, split it down the middle and Nova Scotia can double it's size and become the 51'st state with ecig bans forever prohibited from it's constitution. Acceptable collateral damage will be limited to the uppity French Canadians who can speak English but pretend they don't. They aren't good for either country.

Blame us as much as you want, but Quebec is much more tolerant and open to e-cigs (so far at least), likely because of it's French background.
